Watching Gardeners World, what a load of complete rubbish!
What do others think please or am I just ratty?? 🥴

I’ve read a couple of AT’s books and Jilly Cooper they are not.

I skimmed through the semi-raunch because the thought of Saint Alan of Gardening writing about rumpy pumpy was too much for my delicate state! 😊😚🤭

I hope Mrs Titchmarsh isn’t on GN.

shock

Poor Mrs Titchmarch!
Sorry Mrs Tich if you . 🤔

Mia9Poppy3

Nobody beats Geoff Hamilton, wonderful

Yes Mia9poppy3, Geoff Hamilton was a wonderful presenter and a proper gardener.
I loved his gentle demeanour & his clever, knowledgeable but practical gardening advice. He was also very easy on the eye too.
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of admiration for Monty Don & think that he is a nice, genuine person (unlike snivelling, horribly nasal, common Titchmarsh!
It's the content of GW that's changed over the past few years.
It's become pretentious & a bit precious. We don't all have acres like either Monty or some of the other massive money- no- object plots shown. (Flaunted!)😊
Keep Monty but please get rid of creepy Francis!.🤔

Why is Frances creepy? She seems an accomplished and pleasant young woman to me. Do you not even like her beautiful, gentle dog Ilovedogs22?

Washerwoman Wed 19-Mar-25 18:18:23

Alan Titchmarsh is common !In what way. What a comment. And why is Francis creepy? We're all different but personally I love Montys soothing voice and think Frances seems lovely.

"(unlike snivelling, horribly nasal, common Titchmarsh!"
Wow, so you don't like him then, "Ilovedogs22". Nothing to do with his knowledge of gardening but all to do with his accent and social class. "Snivelling"! How on earth does someone "snivel" on a gardening programme?

Allira Wed 19-Mar-25 19:57:01

Ooh er, common! How dreadful.

I think writing posts like that about people who have never done you any harm is somewhat creepy.

Churchview Wed 19-Mar-25 20:14:14

Alan's been friends with the King for decades. That makes him posh in my book.

Allira Wed 19-Mar-25 20:15:25

😁

Yes, he had been dining with the King the night before the late Queen died.

Something to tell your GC, I suppose.

“Well, The King and I were eating profiteroles…..”

🤐 Oh Allira, ignore me, my mouth runs away with joy of typing!
Yet, are we not allowed to speak freely? To express likes and dislikes equally?
I'm sure that worse things have been said on GN, far worst than .... ......common or God forbid creepy. 🤔

Allira Thu 20-Mar-25 11:30:41

common - sounded like a blast from the past!

Churchview Thu 20-Mar-25 13:35:57

"are we not allowed to speak freely? To express likes and dislikes equally?"

Yes of course. We are allowed to ask questions and express agreement or disagreement in return.

Hyacinth Bucket made me say the C word!
How very remiss of me but I still think Titchmarsh is a jumped-up little twit! 🤔

merlotgran Thu 20-Mar-25 14:05:15

Definition of ‘jumped up:

Somebody who considers themselves to be more important than they really are, or who has suddenly and undeservedly risen in status

I can understand the first bit might apply to AT but he has worked hard for many years, since his days at Pebble Mill, to become a successful presenter. If the powers that be didn’t like his style he wouldn’t be where he is now.

Mr Titchmarsh does snivel foxie48,
He's very nasal & whiny when he speaks. Gosh so many of you worshiping at the alter of old Titchmarsh
Unbelievable!😳

foxie48 Thu 20-Mar-25 14:34:37

"Gosh so many of you worshiping at the alter of old Titchmarsh "

Never been accused of that before, Ilovedogs22 tbh I can take him or leave him and as I said up thread I don't even watch GW! Now I am rather fond of Stanley Tucci and Italian food! I watched all his travels round Italy.

Esmay Thu 20-Mar-25 15:27:57

I was enjoying watching Gardener's World yesterday until a viewer's garden was featured .
I switched over .
I want to see professional techniques not amateur gardens .
It has become formulaic .

Churchview Thu 20-Mar-25 17:17:45

Better to be a lover than a hater Ilovedogs22. Much easier on the blood pressure.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 20-Mar-25 17:35:38

Yes Esmay, Gardener's World has sort of morphed through various incarnations with various presenters & topics of relevance over the years. Some good old standard pracical stuff & a smattering of inspirational magic.
However, of late there has been far too much really poncy & pretentious stuff featured!
Huge massive country piles & organic dells and grottoes & the like! In addition there has been lots of re-hashed ideas, which we all probably know anyway.
Gardeners World started to go downhill maybe 2-3 years ago & I no longer look forward to it each week, as I used to.
Ohh don't get me going on some of the presenters. Get rid of Francis and give Toby Buckland more airtime.🤔

Oh Churchview, a bit of fire in the belly never hurt anyone!
Also, I'm not a hater, I just can't understand why some TV personalities rise to the top, for no obvious, conceivable reason.
Such as the truly dreadful Mr Titchmarch.🤔

SparklyGrandma Thu 20-Mar-25 19:51:06

I’d rather have Carol Klein or Rachel de Thane as a replacement, if Monty is to leave GW.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 20-Mar-25 20:25:21

Defo Carol Klein, not Rachel ---whose name is not originally so posh?

Casdon Thu 20-Mar-25 20:31:56

What do you mean Ilovedogs22? Most women use their married name, so why is it exceptional in any way for Rachel to do so? You seem determined to make cutting remarks about virtually all the gardening presenters, I don’t know why.

Churchview Thu 20-Mar-25 20:47:32

I'm beginning to think that *Ilovedogs22" was unsuccessful in her application to be a presenter on Gardeners World.
