Oh dear I’m very late to the party today.,

DS2 stayed the night and we chatted over a full English together . Lovely to have him all to ourselves ❤️.

I then walked the dog while Dh cleared up. Roast chicken for dinner and a quiet afternoon - lovely. I’m expecting a new vacuum cleaner to be delivered so will, listen out for that.

Dh has a new I pad which DS set up for him , so he will ‘play’ with that and try to get to grips with it.🙄. He used to be a very clever man, now things defeat him. 😢.

Take care and enjoy the sunshine. Very chilly wind still but so warm sitting in the conservatory. 🌱

You are welcome karma. Honestly one of the best purchases I made.
Oops, Georgesgran. I don’t think your DH was the first to make that mistake.
Harrigran. Lucky you, I have to make do with listening to Mahlers 5th at home. One of my late DH’s favourites. Enjoy your concert.

Good morning from a sunny start in Wiltshire.

DD2 came round with the GC so SinL could dig out a tree root in their garden without “help” from DGS. They were highly excitable like they had eaten several tubes of blue smarties. I was exhausted by the time they left but at least they were able to get out into the garden for a while for the first time this year.

DGD2 aged 11, took part in a swimming competition in Windsor and won every one of her races.

The final rugby match for England resulted in a stunning win for them. Your team certainly had a lot of players there BlueSapphire. If France hadn’t won last night the 6 Nations title would have been theirs.

Parma ham wrapped chicken stuffed with mozzarella, sun dried tomato and sage for dinner tonight. Have a good day everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 16-Mar-25 09:58:44

A late Happy Birthday stillearning 🎂🥂enjoy the rest of your weekend

harrigran Sun 16-Mar-25 09:56:26

Good morning from a cool but dry NE, for now anyway.
Lovely afternoon and evening with DS and GD2, she had been off school all week with a nasty virus so it was kind of her to make the journey.
After dinner she played the piano, always a pleasure to listen to.

Today I am going to a concert, Mahler's 5th symphony and the London Philharmonic.
Have a good day.

RosieandherMaw Sun 16-Mar-25 09:50:08

Good morning from N Bucks where we had another hard frost last night.
Another full (ish) house- 2 daughters , 1 SIL and one GS plus, to Rosie’s annoyance, a dog. The 2 dogs get along fine usually, but another dog in the house in the night made Rosie very restless and I was up twice to stop her barking and waking everybody up.
The grown ups were up in Birmingham for their big sister’s 50th birthday bash but got the train back to me , I was babysitting GS and grand-dog. It worked well, all 3 have to be back in London before lunch so staying here overnight has made sense.
Phew! (Later)
They’ve all gone- Rosie is flaked out on her bed in the sun and I might do the same.
Sorry to hear of those of you with illness, pain or worries and I can only wish you what the French call soulagement - some relief or respite. 💐

Grandmabatty Sun 16-Mar-25 09:47:51

Stilllearning a very happy belated birthday to you. It sounds like you are having a good time

Stilllearning Sun 16-Mar-25 09:37:16

Good morning from cloudy South Lanarkshire, yesterday was so lovely, mild with sunshine and blue skies which was very obliging of Mother Nature for my birthday😊
I’m having a lovely weekend of family visits, phone calls etc culminating in lunch today at very good Italian restaurant which we are lucky to have to have in our small town.
A lot of reflection and a great deal to be thankful for.

Nice to read about your happy day yesterday Karma and to read about the painting tips which I may or may not utilise!

Impressive sweater whywhywhy, such talent on here.

Special thoughts to those with extra worries and wishing us all a good day.

BlueSapphire Sun 16-Mar-25 09:36:37

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, set to be.fine today, so have put some washing in the machine.

Wow what wonderful rugby yesterday, five of my Saints boys playing, and they scored four of England's tries. Specially pleased for young Henry Pollock who came off the bench in the second half and scored two tries; a prodigious talent at only 20 years old!

No such excitement today, alas, only DD-out-law popping down with younger DGD's new school blazer so that I can sew a badge on it; a simple.enough job, but one they can't manage!
I may also make some.sausage rolls for a wine evening I am hosting on Wednesday.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

brook2704 Sun 16-Mar-25 09:34:57

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s grey and cloudy here but hopefully sunshine later
A bit of a late start for me today, I was out until the early hours so I’m behind schedule this morning. I was at a friends 60th Birthday party, I really enjoyed it, dancing the night away and all good fun. This morning DS messaged at 9 for his regular Sunday morning video call so I jumped out of bed pdq and quickly got dressed. Now for a leisurely breakfast
I’ve not read the posts yet but hope everyone is doing ok, take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Thank you FGT2 for your reassuring message about your friend's heart operation. She's been moved to a room and we're thinking they don't want her to catch anything as the surgery may be imminent.

Thanks also to madeleine45 and Taichinan for your kind wishes for my sister.

She was quite cheerful this morning, waiting for 'permission to have a shower' as she put it! She was fretting that she didn't have any face creams with her! Typical!

madeleine45 Sun 16-Mar-25 09:01:11

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a cold bright still morning here in North Yorkshire. It was bright sun about half an hour ago but it has clouded over a bit but still looks good.

I rather overdosed on Rugby yesterday and sad , but not surprised at Wales ending. However it allowed me to absolutely abandon all plans for jobs and run the day round the rugby. There was much to enjoy and it does allow one to shout and clap and shriek at the tv without the neighbours sending for the doctors or the police!!

Sadly there are no great rugby fans around here. Where I used to live there were several of us and we sometimes had a rugby picnic in someones house and enjoyed the company and people to say how good or bad that was. Watching on your own is good but not quite as nice as with fellow enthusiasts. I shot off early to get my shopping and be back in good time. Whilst I was out, called for a coffee at Cafe Nero about halfway through the shopping. As I had gone out early, not a lot of people about. I had my Yorkshire Post, and I had a quick look at the rugby in the sports page, but dont really follow much more of that. So my little good deed was, an elderly gentleman, who I see quite often, as he takes his sons dog for a walk and then calls in for coffee, was sitting quite close to me. I asked if he followed sport and he looked a little surprised but said yes. So I offered him the sports section, which he was quite eager to take, and said that will set him up when he gets home with the dog.

So I am rather paying for it today , as my back is not good . Have managed a shower avoiding my eye of course, and am slowly getting myself going to make an effort today. Much to tidy up, I have to try and arrange some space in my freezer so that I can make up a casserole and probably some curry, but it is such a small freezer now. When I lived in Richmond, it was at the top of a hill and we could get snowed in at times. I had a great freezer about 5ft tall. If I needed to I could feed us all for a week, and with a couple of long life milks , which I dont normally like, could keep us going. It also worked well, that if my back was ok and I felt in the mood I could have a grand cook up and stick things in there. Here of course I can shop easily close by, but still feel frustrated by lack of room when I have a few bargains to cook!

So apart from some cooking, I need to get more books sort4ed and put on the bookshelf, get round to contacting some friends with email as this week has been all out of sorts, and fingers crossed plan to go out and at least walk round the flats if not a bit more. Several birds sat about in the tree today but no sign of any leaves, but there are a few daffodils to cheer the day in the garden. Then need to get my little chess set out and go through the things I learnt last week, and also find out where I have put my cards. At the womens group this week we are taking in cards and games, and I have offered to explain basic whist to them. I hope that at least one or two will know the names of the suits, or it might be heavy going. I was surprised to find so many of them didnt know any card games at all. We always played such games on winters evening when I was a child and of course when we were sailing they were great for the evening anchored up. I also plan to teach some of the simple patience games, not only for the women themselves but several of them want to teach their children . I think they are great for junior age children to improve their number skills and find something they can do that doesnt involve a computer!!

Well reading your posts, you all seem to have good ideas for the day and hope all goes to plan.
Sallyforth, I hope your sister hears soon about her operation and all goes well for her.
Karmalady, well done on your successful gathering and all your food went well. It is very satisfying when your plans come off isnt it?

Well, I hope that the day goes well for everyone, and the weather is kind to us. Enjoy whatever you are doing and it is great to be back to normal again on here (Fingers crossed!)

Taichinan Sun 16-Mar-25 08:58:00

Good morning all. After the most glorious day yesterday, today has dawned rather grey and listless on the Angus coast.
Sallyforth flowers and 🙏 for your sister.
Steep Hill in Lincoln is on my list of "favourite places on earth" Greyduster. My son and his family used to live in Lincoln and I used to walk along the canal from theirs to the city centre and then up Steep Hill, popping into the little art shops and with a very necessary stop for coffee on the way up. I couldn't do that now!!
That was such a lovely clan gathering you had Karma, thanks to your meticulous planning.
Lovely jumper whywhywhy, and happy birthday to your DH.
Yesterday was one of those 'perfect' days. We had our monthly 'Tai Chi on the Beach' and, after the freezing weather of the previous week, we all waddled along clothed in layer upon layer of warm clothes, woolie hats and gloves. But the wind had dropped and the beach was sheltered from the breeze coming off the land, and the warm sun was shining, and there was soon a pile of discarded clothing beside us! As usual we repaired to the Pavilion for tea and sticky buns - and it was too hot in there too!
When I got home I found that my lovely gardener had been and given the lawns their first cut of the season - what a beautiful smell that is! He had also, as promised, spray painted a pair of blue metal chairs. And as a surprise he had made me a new "benchlet" using the wrought iron ends of an old bench. He really is the kindest and cleverest of men and a true treasure of a gardener!
The previous day I had a visit from DGD3, her friend, and DD's Daft Dawg. Said Daft Dawg is a now aging but no less daft Red Setter. She is the most beautiful dog to look at ......... The rest will remain unsaid 😉. But she's much loved by us all. Anyway the girls had come to walk her on a beach near me (not the tai chi beach) which is accessed over high dunes. I walked with them up the board walk from the car park, but declined to join them on the precipitous 30ft-or-so descent to the beach and instead was happy to watch them from the view point. How I wish I still had the energy though!
Anyway, it's been a lovely weekend this far and I'm going to enjoy my Sunday doing nothing!
Have a good day everyone and may all the pain and worries shrink in the warm sunshine x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 16-Mar-25 08:56:12

karma GN at its best eh? 😁

GrannySomerset Sun 16-Mar-25 08:54:05

A beautiful, cloudless morning means time in the garden today; no other plans but will walk up to the village for a paper so plenty to read. Sunday can be a long day.

Good morning from 3C sand dunes northwest coast.
Just a quiet day yesterday and DD driving up from the south this morning. She then joins her childhood friends for a birthday. She is here for nearly a week which is nice.

Lovely photos today and birthday greetings to Mr.WWW.
Thoughts to all🌺

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 16-Mar-25 08:44:42

What a wonderful view Pantsglas on your paper run!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 16-Mar-25 08:40:43

Sallyforth the 80th party meal last night was for our friend who had open heart surgery this time last year after a wait (with 2 cancellations) of six months. I hope your sister fares as well. 🤞

karmalady Sun 16-Mar-25 08:40:23

ooh thanks for that too Georgesgran, I`ll empty the shed, I have small gaps in my shed walls so I will take plastic and tape to cover the inside wall, one at a time. So glad I saw your post about the gaps

Marydoll Sun 16-Mar-25 08:39:12

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 2°C

Lovely to read such positive posts today. Whywhywhy, what a lovely sweater.

We had a productive morning yesterday, trying to get thee garden back in order, but it is going to take ages, due to the significant storm damage and resulting repairs. More of the same today.
Last night we were out in the dark, removing all the dud solar lights. There were at least twenty, some quite large.
It got me thinking how bad they are for the environment,

Georgesgran, your post made me laugh. The problem here is, DH thinks he is an expert at DIY, but I know he isn't and I am usually left to clear up the resulting chaos . Yesterday, in amongst the bushes, I found a jar full of turps, with a paintbrush in it. Going by the gunk and decaying leaves, it had obviously been dumped lying there since the beginning of time. 😡

I also had a busy time at church, another flood, but this time a badly leaking radiator, in a rarely used room. It turned out that one of the sacristans alerted the curate on Friday, that a repair was required, but he never bothered to tell the P?P.
To make matters worse, no-one thought to turn off the leaking radiator or wrap a towel around the pipe. Grrrr! I spend more time troubleshooting repairs, than being a sacristan.

We have also a football Derby here today and DH is going to DS1's for lunch and to watch it. I am so relieved that I have not been invited, as I sometimes am. I will relish my empty. and the peace and quiet.
I saw Dollie at Mass last night she has scootered down, but was reluctant to scooter back. Her parents insisted on walking back, but she managed to persuade papa to drive here home!
On Friday, I discovered that DH has an function to watch USB videos in his new car. While waiting for her parents to return, they sat in the car watching videos of Dollie as a baby. A lovely bonding time for them.😍

I have a notion for making beef stroganoff for dinner, whether I can eat it, is another matter. My mouth is getting worse again, yet another GP visit required. I have no idea what is going on and I suspect neither has he.

Enjoy all your activities today and thinking of those, who are unwell and struggling.

Good morning from a frosty Black Country. The heating came on in the night!

Sorted out the clothes I need to take for our trip tomorrow. Just need to pack the suitcase now. We are only taking a 10Kg case each.

Happy birthday to Mr Whywhywhy

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s a beautiful but cold and sunny morning. Alexa tells me it’s 3°C.
Rising to 9°C later.

We plan to see our Yorkshire Lass and her husband for coffee late morning, pop into the larder for my stepfather’s small list of needs then pick him up to drive over to his favourite pub in Glazebrook, near Warrington. I think he enjoys the run out - he doesn’t chat much in the car just enjoys taking in the passing scenery. So much nicer for us all on a dry, sunny day!

Jaxjacky Sun 16-Mar-25 08:15:34

Morning from a sunny, frosty S Hants, it was similar yesterday with a bitterly cold breeze, I don't saunter on my walks in this weather
Our French friends were happy yesterday with the 🏉 lots of online banter and allez les bleus, onwards to the next time.
I’ll sow some more seeds today, it’s pleasantly warm in the greenhouse - these will come into a spare bedroom, tomatoes, cucumber and peppers
I might venture to the country park later while MrJ goes to watch our grandson play football.
Lamb for dinner, half a shoulder going in the slow cooker

Good morning from a sunny but cold Essex coast.
This morning the boys are playing in a rugby festival so I am going with DH to watch. We are then going on to a 70th birthday gathering for tea and cake.
Later this afternoon is the cup final with DH's beloved team playing. I'm looking forward to watching it with him.
Enjoy Sunday everyone xx

Good morning from a sunny, frosty W Kent. A lot of walking yesterday resulted in a better sleep but I can’t do that every day. Today usual chat to DB and some pork chops for lunch. After a suggestion from a friend I have discovered ‘Unforgotten’, I know very late to the game, started from Season1.
Happy birthday *Mrwhywhywhy’
Best wishes all round and I also found the Lincoln Imp
