Whatever your thoughts on Tommy Robinson this article by Lizzie Webb in the Conservative Woman makes interesting reading.

No I don’t read all the posts, but the ones I have read are just listing all Tommy Robinson’s failings. Has he raped vulnerability young children?
No.
Yet all I read is how awful he is.
What about the men who raped these children? where’s the posts saying how revolting they are and we need their type like we need a hole in the head.?

Well that’s sorted then.
The police don’t care, the local council didn’t care, and I doubt anyone on this thread really cares either.

So let the abuse continue.

I don’t think you actually read anything anybody else says Kandinsky, you just go on ploughing your own furrow.

*A 2024 report on child sex exploitation in Rochdale from 2004 to 2013 found that there was "compelling evidence" of widespread abuse, and that Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Council had failed to properly investigate these cases, leaving girls "at the mercy of their abusers". While there were successful prosecutions, the report said that the investigations only "scraped the surface" of what had happened, and that many abusers had gone unpunished*

This is why we need people like Tommy Robinson.

I think you will find that people like Maggie Oliver who worked tirelessly to bring these offenders to justice and gave up her job as a police officer because she was so frustrated with the lack of progress are needed. Robinson is a criminal with a long list of convictions, he worked with thugs in the EDL, defamed a Syrian boy in his video and was found guilty of defamation in a court of law. We also need people like the makers of the excellent docudrama Three Girls and the makers of a documentary which followed the work of the officers of West Mercia Police who worked to bring a case against grooming gangs. As far as I am concerned we need Tommy Robinson like a hole in the head.

I don’t agree that we need people like ‘Tommy Robinson’ , I believe that we don’t need people like him.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is a violent, tax evading football hooligan, bail-breaching, head butting, common assault inflicting, racist, conspiracy theory promoting, Putin supporting, Russian money seeking, passport faking, Covid rule breaking, convicted fraudster, journalist stalking supporter of people who post Gas The Jews videos.

That's exactly what we don't need!

Nazir is a saint in my eyes. To go against your own community took some balls.

Iam64 Fri 21-Mar-25 12:25:23

Tommy Robinson has absolutely no positive characteristics. The people who first saw the gangs he’s focussed on were social and health workers, teachers, police officers, the girls/boys and their families.
Three Girls the tv drama had a great impact
The two men who helped change things for the victims and successfully prosecute offenders were Keir Starmer and Nazir Afzal at the CPS

More reading for nanna as to Tommy Robinsons history. You wouldnt welcome him to Oz, thats for sure.

No, he'd be turned back at immigration because of his criminal record.

Churchview Fri 21-Mar-25 11:30:05

For all Musk's support of Tommy Robinson they won't have him in America either. Not just because of his criminal record but because he tried to use someone else's passport the last time he flew there (in order to hide his criminal record).

nanna, you clearly haven't read the whole thread as regards who actually made a difference in the prosecution of these offenders, and havent lived through it in the UK, so I shall repeat what I wrote earlier to avoid going round in circles:

"The article in the O/P says,

"It is ironic that it is Robinson who, more than anyone else, has consistently investigated and championed these ignored girls".

This is rubbish. The brave men and women who actually fought on the ground to make sure the issues were brought to light from 2014 onwards and continued to do so consistently who made the difference, who made it happen.

One such was honoured on a thread on GB news in GN (collecting money). Looked at the racism issue full on as did many. I've just googled a whole number of reports on those who were involved and

Tommy Robinson doesnt get a mention. Words not actions are easy

He's jumped into the issue for political reasons backed by Musk (who has more political reasons).

Allira Fri 21-Mar-25 10:45:21

I have MIL's somewhere but they're broken, she must have clutched them once too often.

Not that she was a pearl-clutcher, she was more outspoken and forward-thinking. Perhaps she tore them off in a rant about politics!! 😀

I think I’ll get grandma’s pearls out from the safe. I feel like a good clutch 🪭🪭

I’d be concerned about abuse of teenagers from any group whatsoever. It sounds to be a very racist thing to differentiate, ViceVersa

That's Tommy Robinson for you!

I just don't understand how this man receives any credit. Everything he does seems to be self-serving.

I cannot believe he cares one jot for anyone!

ViceVersa Fri 21-Mar-25 08:23:16

Well it’s good someone’s concerned isn’t it.

He's hardly the only one! And as has been pointed out, he's a total hypocrite (as well as a convicted, violent criminal) when there are abusers among his own supporters.

I have no idea who or what this Robinson man is but if he is calling out abuse of young teenagers that can’t be bad. Sometimes you need to see the wood and not the trees.

Maybe you should do a bit of research then. He's only concerned about the abuse of teenagers by 'certain groups'.

I find Conservative Woman utterly bizarre.

StoneofDestiny Thu 20-Mar-25 22:32:22

*I just find it interesting and useful to read widely about people in the public eye.
That way I don't make the mistake of singing the praises of convicted violent criminals on opinion sites*

Amen to that. I think some on here could do with enlightening themselves about the racist thugs masquerading as moral and law abiding reformers.
