Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and feels milder here in brackley .
The usual routine bus trip to Bicester meet people I know , tempted to call into the Bakery cafe in to town before I go and get a sausage and bacon bap to eat whilst waiting for the bus.
I will do Scampi and chips in air fryer before settling down to watch some cycling on TV.
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Hello all from the middle of the Atlantic. Flew out to Dom Rep on Tuesday to join Explorer2 for repositioning cruise to the Med.
Presently on day 2 of 7 seadays- yesterday we were in Antigua- v hot but lovely.
Next stop Madeira.
This weekend marks 12 months since my husband had his aortic valve replaced- never thought we’d be able to holiday again at one point in the last 3 years, but very grateful, thankfully here we are.
Many of you were so lovely and calmed my anxiety last year when I posted about his condition and the op- another example of GN doing its stuff so well and I’m very grateful for it.
Won’t be able to read/ or post much as limited access to wifi- bought a package but can’t be on it for very long at a time and have to remember to log out after each session or else it’s keeps on going…
Kind thoughts to all, and I’ll try to keep up now and then with your busyness. x

“We’ve approved your application and your passports are waiting to be dispatched” message just received! But will they arrive in the post tomorrow for our flights on Sunday? 😂

Close to the wire! If they arrive Monday 🤞 we will book Jet 2 flights forTuesday morning instead and just go for a week to our happy place instead of the ten days we’d planned!

hollysteers Fri 21-Mar-25 09:55:00

Good morning Mick and all from 15C Sunnyside sand dunes northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday and a free standing parasol arrived which I will put together this morning. I’m not so keen on sitting in the blazing sun these days. FaceTime with old soprano friend who has been in Thailand with her new boyfriend and we will meet up soon.

DD still here and we go to the Ivy this afternoon to meet up with DS for a meal to celebrate my birthday next week. Sadly DGD can’t make it, so I will meet her for a meal separately next week.

Forsythia from the garden.

Sallyforth Fri 21-Mar-25 09:24:43

Marydoll so sorry to read that your condition isn't improving at all. I'm trying to imagine toothache all over and it sounds absolutely dreadful, yet you are always so stoic about it all.

I'm sure having fun with Babydoll helps keep your spirits up. Hope you have some relief today. flowers

luluaugust Fri 21-Mar-25 09:24:24

Susan hope your op goes well

Grammaretto Fri 21-Mar-25 09:11:30

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny again! 🌞

My dear lodger is moving out tomorrow and having a fish supper with me tonight. I shall miss her and she will miss the sunny flat.

I heard yesterday that my planning application to build a house in the garden has been refused but we may re submit. It's all
up in the air.

Lovely photos of sunny Glasgow Marydoll 😎
So glad you found your mum Susan I hope your op goes well.

What a fright you must have given Oldd, Ash . So glad the problem was discovered and fixed. Endocrinology is fascinating!

Hoping for a sunny day for most of us. I trust noone on here has been caught up with Heathrow being closed.

harrigran Fri 21-Mar-25 09:06:14

Good morning from a sunny and mild NE.
Yesterday my delivery arrived at 10 am so I could get on with jobs without fear of missing the doorbell.
Watched another two episodes of Ten pound Poms, love the fashion and music.
Nothing worth watching on TV tonight so might resort to netflix.
Sorry to hear you have been in hospital Ashcombe hope you feel better soon. I have ever used salt in cooking or at the table, I always thought it was healthier to restrict it. You live and learn.
Have a good day everyone.

Taichinan Fri 21-Mar-25 09:01:02

Good morning all from the Angus coast. I've just looked at my weather app which shows a day of wall-to-wall sunshine - it has just omitted to factor in the coastal mist! Oh well, it's been such a lovely week.
Sorry you've been so poorly Ash. Like you I have always understood that too much salt is bad for you, but hadn't realised that too little is also bad. I hope you're feeling much better now.
You're explanation of the inevitable chaos caused by the closure of Heathrow is very interesting Madeleine. A logistical nightmare!
I hope your mum will have no more hospital stays for a while Susan. That was communication mayhem!
Glad your mum is happily settled in her care home Grandmabatty. It's good it is so close to you.
There's nothing much happening round here just now. It was a very small tai chi class yesterday for some reason, and afterwards I came straight up home instead of popping into the shops so that I could make the most of time in the sun. I'm glad I did because this mist today shows now signs of lifting! Never mind, all good things must come to an end I suppose.
Enjoy your day everyone, particularly those of you meeting up with old friends. I too had that quotation in my old autograph book Liberty.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 21-Mar-25 09:01:01

Safe journey Sar53 are you going over the bridge to your other daughter ?

Have a wonderful time xx

Good morning all. A perfect spring day in Glasgow with a hazy start and the sun breaking through.

What a glorious day yesterday spent mostly in the garden as I had an enforced stay at home day waiting for an unspecified time for a delivery which arrived which arrived at 4.00pm. Being such a good day it wasn’t any hardship spending the day outdoors investigating all that is springing back to life, deciding Which plants to move, cut back or replace. Still so pleasant at 6.00pm, I enjoyed a chilled rose al fresco before dinner.
A Waitrose shop at some point today followed by a trip to the hairdressers.

Sorry to hear you have been unwell Ash, I am pleased to hear your DH is there for you.
Have an enjoyable weekend Gingster as you catch up with dear friends.
Good to hear your mum seems ok Grandmabatty. I’m sure you could have done without having to put your brother in his place though!
More good news to hear your mum is now settled back in her care home Susan. A great relief for you. Look after yourself post surgery and hopefully you recover quickly.

Best wishes to all for a good day

Marydoll Fri 21-Mar-25 08:27:34

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 6°C. I awoke to a beautiful sky at 6am, now it is very cloudy.

Afh, sorry to hear you have unwell, but glad to hear you are on the mend. My friend did exactly the same as you and also ended up in hospital.

GMB, I'm pleased to hear your mum is settling in.

We had a full on day with Babydoll yesterday. The Park was full of people out enjoying the sunshine. She loved the company of all the other children at the swing park and spent a lot of time shouting at the ducks and swans, because they wouldn't come to the edge of the pond.

As the morning went on, I noticed she was becoming redder and redder in the face and it was not due to the sun. She was so cross and defiant. Poor papa was getting so frustrated. 😂
A visit to the garden centre, where she somehow managed to put a toy windmill in the trolley, cheered her up. I am the grandmother of a shoplifter. blush
Don't worry, I paid for it! DS couldn't stop laughing, he said the she did same with them, but it was duly returned to the stand!

It wasn't until we returned home and I stripped her off, to cool her down, I saw she was covered all over in a rash, which looked very much like scarletina. 🙈
She spent the rest of the day running round in her vest and nappy, she was burning up. Despite a dose of Calpol, she was hyper, exactly like her daddy, who was a very poorly child, it makes me love her even more, she is a clone of him.

It is her daddy, DS2's birthday today, I hope they can still celebrate. DIL said BabyD, slept for eleven hours solid. She loves when we have BabyD, it is the only day in the week, she sleeps all night! 😂

Not much planned today. I am really struggling to move, the lack of biologic l medication is taking its toll. Think toothache, all over your body.
I must phone my GP, mouth still really painful even after the fourth batch of meds and the two lesions on my face are not responding to the cream.
However, I can't face another trip to the surgery, so will wait until Monday.

Gingster, have a great weekend.

Wishing you all a pleasant day. The sun has come out, so I may manage into the garden.

BlueSapphire Fri 21-Mar-25 08:26:15

Good morning everyone from a grey and cloudy Northampton. Yesterday was so glorious! Most of the morning was spent tidying up and putting away after my wine evening, and the dishwasher was stuffed.

Popped into town after lunch to the bank, then got a few veggies off the market stall, stocked up on birthday and Easter cards, and then bought more storage containers for the freezer.

I had a lot of tomatoes and celery left over from the wine evening, so decided to make soup with them; made a lovely batch of tomato soup when I got home, and will do the celery soup today.

Dance classes this morning, but will only do two instead of three, so that I can get back home and pay the gardener who is due this morning. I have messaged him with a little list of jobs that I would like doing!

After a quick lunch DD will pick me up so that I can go and watch her at her riding lesson; the stables are near here but set in glorious countryside, so I can admire the view while watching her in the outdoor school.

Then a quick dash back here so she can change before we set off to watch live rugby; a very important match against our arch rivals Leicester. It is sold out, so around 15,000 in the stadium and the atmosphere will be electric. A chance to see some of our internationals from the Six Nations!

Sorry to hear you have been so poorly Ash, and trust you have turned the corner now.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

GrannyIvy Fri 21-Mar-25 08:10:04

Good morning from a cloudy Cambridgeshire currently 9 degrees.

We had the windows open in our Pilates class yesterday and I sat and pottered in the garden in the afternoon in a pleasant 19 degrees.

Gingster have a lovely weekend away
GrandMattie your cakes sound so good, I can manage one but producing that assortment would floor me!
Ashcombe sorry to hear you have been so poorly and good to see you posting again

Today I am being Mrs Mopp attacking my DD2’s housework then head gardener tidying in her garden and then it is school pick up.

Hope no one is caught up in the Heathrow chaos oh my goodness what a nightmare that will be for so many.

Happy Friday to all. Have the best day possible

Liberty Fri 21-Mar-25 08:01:31

Good morning from a sunny Bradford where I stayed last night with my brother and SiL after spending the afternoon with my sister who has just moved into a nursing home because of ill health.

We had a delicious meal in a city centre Indian restaurant last night where the portions were enormous…my vegetable biryani would easily have fed 3. Luckily P&K helped me out.

I’m meeting my school friends later for our weekend together which will be such a special and enjoyable time. We have enjoyed our friendship for 2 years less than Gingster who I hope has a wonderful weekend with hers.

Like all my friends I had an autograph book as a young child and I remember one of the entries written which I must say, at the time, didn’t mean much to me….but I value it now. “ Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver, the other gold.”

Hope today is a good one for all.

Grandmabatty Fri 21-Mar-25 07:59:01

Glad your mum is back at the care home Susan. Hospital and care home communication isn't great, is it? I've realised that already.

Susan56 Fri 21-Mar-25 07:55:54

Good morning from Shropshire where another sunny day is forecast.

Good to see you back Ash but sorry you have been so unwell.

Glad the move went smoothly and your mum seems settled Grandmabatty.

Well mum is back at her care home.Obviously nobody thought to tell us🙄Unfortunately I won’t be able to visit her until after I have had surgery and a few days recovery but the home are very good at phoning with updates.I am so relieved she is back there. The staff were very happy to have her back too.

The garden is looking good after DH’s hard work.Today I hope to go shopping which isn’t my favourite occupation anymore but needs must.First I am waiting for someone to collect some items I have sold.

Have a good day everyone🌻

RosieandherMaw Fri 21-Mar-25 07:53:12

Good morning from N Bucks where it is grey and misty, but with luck the sun should burn that off.
Haven’t we been spoiled this week with the lovely weather?
I’m being taken out to a belated birthday lunch by a good friend who was away last week - dare I admit it’s my fourth in a week? And I’m out again tomorrow?
It will be a bowl of Kelloggs Cornflakes after this shock
Or back to bread but no dripping.
I hope the many ills and worries which beset so many of you abate and wish everybody a pleasant day and weekend.

EkwaNimitee Fri 21-Mar-25 07:51:47

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright, cloudy-ish Carlisle. Rain later today I believe. I've actually had to do a little watering of new plantings.

Yesterday's early trip to the dentist showed up no problems but, as I said to him, disaster usually strikes at the least convenient moment.
It was straight home after that as I was expecting an early delivery of wine. Then the Tesco delivery man came early, he'd got his slots the wrong way round and, finally, my radio, due late evening, arrived whilst I was cooking dinner. As usual, I realised I'd hung onto the previous one too long, the new one gets all my preferred stations and has presets.

In the afternoon, I finished scarifying the lawn, what hard work that is! It resulted in gratifying amounts of action recording on my smart watch though so I rewarded myself with yet another hot cross bun....

Today, I collect my new glasses and hope the new prescription will prove ok. Then it's home via M&S food hall where I shall probably treat myself to something I shouldn't.

I'm sorry to hear of your health problems Ash, low sodium sounds unusual. I'm very sparing with the salt myself...only added to potatoes and bread dough but my levels are ok. I hope you're fine from now on, including that hip.

And have the best possible day everyone.

Sar53 Fri 21-Mar-25 07:39:19

Good morning from the Essex coast. A little cloudy at the moment but I believe a warm day is forecast.
I'm off for a long weekend to see DD2 and family. I haven't seen them for ages so looking forward to catching up.
Sorry to hear you have been unwell Ash, hopefully you are now on the mend.
Have a lovely weekend Gingster.
I have lots to do before I leave at lunchtime so I'll wish you all a happy and peaceful weekend xx
