Good Morning Everyone,
Its a twilight start here but its dry at the moment here in brackley .
Usual routine bus trip to Bicester , to shop and meet people I know.
Return get some Fish & Chips from close shop, and then relax watching cycling on TV.
My health is OK,
Take Care,
Mick

A cheerfully sunny morning so the first half of the day looks promising though the forecast suggests rain later. Am off to have coffee with an old friend so a very chatty time ahead. Otherwise nothing planned so will let the day unfold.

Grandmabatty Fri 28-Mar-25 07:59:51

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and wet. Ginny I hope your daughter's house move goes well. GrandMattie I always think the acoustics in a church make a lovely sound. Enjoy the concert. Ash it's good to hear you are getting out a bit more.
Yesterday I worked in the school library and was boiled alive with the heat. It's centrally switched on and off so I had to thole it. Then later I nipped to dds to share her pilaf she'd made. The boys weren't there as they were still at their other grandparents. Once back home, I remembered to put the bin out but got caught in a fearful downpour. Everything I wore had to be stripped off. My jacket dripped all over the floor.
Today I've woken early after a bad night. I was up at half one having a cuppa. I then woke before six but lay in bed reading. The rain is more showery but still heavy in bursts, so no gardening today. I'll get housework done and maybe the food shop I need to last me through the weekend. Dd will call in later to pick up her laundry - just call me widow twanky. I won't be going far in the heavy rain anyway. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey and windy Carlisle. A showery day is forecast. I'm glad it also rained at bedtime, heavily so. The garden needed it.
Yesterday was quite pleasant weather-wise but, being a tad off-colour, I confined my gardening activities to watering an ericaceous feed around my camellia and rhododendrons. It's more trouble keeping plants happy in this garden than the last one where I just put things in and they grew lustily in spite of being regularly blasted by salty southwestern gales.

Today I'm still wobbly but planning to nip out into the countryside to visit the garden centre and replenish my fresh veggies on the way. Then home to an afternoon of reading.

I hope you all have a pleasant day.

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow.

Lovely to see Scotty pop in yesterday.

I know it is a case of the pot calling the kettle black, but GM, it is no wonder you are tired, you are so busy. No point in telling you to slow down, I suppose?
That is strange about your PC. It is usually quite easy to get into PC system, remotely, if you know how.
I initially misread it, I thought the engineer couldn't unscrew it! 🤣

BabyD was in top firm yesterday, she is extremely nosy a people watcher and had a ball.
It was the correct decision to go to Braehead, we had torrential rain yesterday.
Mr MD, a man who loathes shopping, was unusually compliant and even bought some new clothes. 😂

BabyD was so excited a going to McDonald's, a rare treat. I had a notion for a burger and DH was happy, if it meant I ate something. An error was made in the order and we ended up with extra food at no extra charge.
We were a bit wet, having got caught in a deluge, just getting from the car to the restaurant. BabyD was so indignant at getting wet, that she told everyone who passed: Knee wet, papa hair wet, Ga Ga wet. This was all done in a very loud voice, while pointing outside at the rain and stroking papa's wet hair. Then she started complaining that a baby was making too much noise, despite her being a prime example of a fish wife!
She kept everyone entertained. 🥰
DIL, messaged to say, baby was so tired, she refused her bedtime story and immediately fell asleep, unheard of.
She wasn't the only one, DH and I crawled into bed very early.😂

Today, we are off out for lunch with DD and SIL. They have already suggested, what I should order, for I won't be able to eat much.😉 My loss, their gain.
A cunning plan has been hatched. Rather than walk (I couldn't do it) and go over the muddy, boggy field, we are getting a bus to their village and the train to town. Later, we will go back to the village pub for a Guinness for DH. A proper day out.
DD and I fancied a Bellini in Grand Central, but the menfolk say it is only for posers and the beer is not to their liking , are digging their heels in! 😂
I have been advised that there will be absolutely no shopping.🤣

Enjoy your holidays all. Hugs for all, who need them.

PS, I have heard nothing from my GP. 😔
Obviously I have used up my NHS allowances and he hopes, I will stop pestering him and just go away. It is not a dental problem, but a medical one, so a dentist can't really help, apart from suggesting some pain relief. It is linked to my RA meds.

Morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire. I’m sorry to read about the loss of your friend and neighbour baubles. Her husband keeping a lighted candle in the window for her is very moving, I have never heard of that tradition💐

I too am attending a funeral this morning, not however a close friend, just respect for the mum of two of my daughters’ friends. The girls spent as lot of time in our house when they were all teenagers and they are all still close now.

Lovely flowers arrived last night from my Connel family and for once I have managed to ‘arrange’ them to show them properly. Artistic I am not and am envious daily when I read of the talents of so many on here.

Sun peeping through the clouds so I will ‘arise and go now’, wishing everyone a good and peaceful day with relief for those in pain.

Grammaretto Fri 28-Mar-25 08:07:53

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's raining steadily and feels cold.
But at least my cold is getting better after a day of rest sloth .
I shared some family records with
my siblings.

I battled with a faulty heating system. My lodger reported a broken washing machine and my kiln didn't turn itself off so is stuck at top temperature. That's 3 things but there are probably more. 😞

Malaga sounds perfect FGT. 🌴
🌞

Sorry about your friend Baubles.

I hope everyone has some joy today.
Wait there's the sun. 🌞

NannyJan53 Fri 28-Mar-25 08:08:11

Good morning from a bright Black Country, where it rained overnight. Forecast is sunny for today though.

A wonderful walk yesterday with my fortnightly Walk and Talk group. Along the canal to a fisheries lake and a cafe. There were about 20 of us and the sun was shining, it was like a summers day!

Another walk this morning, as it is my u3a's monthly Walking Group walk . Then after onto Mums to take her food shopping.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

whywhywhy Fri 28-Mar-25 08:08:38

Good morning from a damp and wet midlands but it’s forecast to be sunny later.
I had a fabulous birthday yesterday. Lots of cards and presents and pampering.
Another surprise awaits me today from DH.
Sending you all love and hugs. Xxx🤗🤗🤗

Kalu Fri 28-Mar-25 08:44:27

Good morning all. Although rain is forecast at some point, it is a beautiful sunny morning in Glasgow but unfortunately a chilly wind is still with us.

I managed to find a gap in yesterday’s deluge for my hairdressing appointment plus a parking spot next to the salon.
Today I am meeting up with friends at 2.30 for lunch at Glaschu but before that I will have a look in the Levi store for a pair of straight leg denims, 501s, I bought my first pair 60 years ago! Time permitting, a look in at a couple of shops in Princes Square.

Hoping a smooth day is ahead for all.

Jaxjacky Fri 28-Mar-25 08:47:02

Morning, damp after rain in S Hants, yesterday we had a mere glimmer of sun in the late afternoon, my Gardner weeded thoroughly and we decided the lavender can stay another year. My stretch class was good, it incorporated some balance work which I must practice at home.
That’s glorious NannyJan I can imagine a lovely walk.
A walk in less salubrious surroundings for me today, Tesco delivery then my daughter and two children are staying tonight. We’ll only have our grandson in, granddaughter working in pub and daughter with my son’s fiancée are participating in karaoke, not inherited from me 🙄
May anyone feeling poorly improve today, including Susan recovering.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. The builder arrived at 7.30 and DH has a Drs appointment so I feel I have done the day already. I actually have to fit some shopping in as DB is arriving tomorrow.
Upsetting at art yesterday as one of our ladies has had a bad fall, onto her face, in the garden. One lady painted a quick card to go to her.
Best wishes

weenanni59 Fri 28-Mar-25 08:55:23

Good morning everyone from a wet and windy Ayrshire coast .
I am looking forward to meeting some friends for lunch today. I had planned to go for a walk this morning but I’ll give that a miss and do some overdue housework instead .
I hope you all have a lovely Friday 😀

hollysteers Fri 28-Mar-25 08:56:57

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday tidying up and memorising songs.
Off to art group soon and my pianist friend is coming over tonight, we will have my belated birthday meal and he will stay overnight as he lives fifty miles away.

Thoughts to all as always and a little card I drew🌺

Ziplok Fri 28-Mar-25 09:11:26

Good morning,
A bright but breezy morning, with an occasional shower. It feels a bit cooler today, so I’m pleased I got a few jobs in the garden completed yesterday.
Not sure what my plans for today are yet, but I’ve a couple of indoor jobs to do, so will do those then it’s a wait and see, I think 😊.
I hope you all have a Good Friday.

monk08 Fri 28-Mar-25 09:30:43

Lovely photos NannyJan if its local DH will have probably fished that fishery, they are inclined to pick ones with onsite cafe.

harrigran Fri 28-Mar-25 09:33:55

Good morning from a sunny but windy NE.
Spent all day doing laundry yesterday, managed to get it all ironed too.
Had a ready vegetarian meal for dinner, couldn't face standing in the kitchen for another hour.
DD rang at 10pm after the day celebrating her birthday. She is off to Prague for work on Sunday.
DS sent me information about GD's school, she is at an exceptional girls independent one but in the new academic year they intend to be co-ed. We are a family where all three generations attended single sex schools and I am not convinced it is a good idea.
Sorry to hear about your neighbour Baubles, I too light a candle every night and place it in front of a photo of DH. I place a photo of GDs next to him because he loved to spend time with them.
Have a good day.

NannyJan53 Fri 28-Mar-25 09:40:09

It is called Bells Mill Fishery [Monk]

Taichinan Fri 28-Mar-25 10:03:21

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's a sunny and windy March day on the Angus coast - but with cloud building to the north-west. The washing will be hung out notwithstanding!
It seems to be a day for mis-reading posts. I too thought grandmattie was talking about her marmalade socks Sallyforth, and after Greyduster had told us about all the baby frogs in the pond I thought she said the school was having an insect day, so she wasn't needed!
DD and here DD1 (aka my former DancingDGD) are as we speak winging off to Amsterdam for a weekend of 'mother and daughter bonding' as part of her 21st birthday present. DD is one of those people who always manage to find exciting and 'different' things to do wherever she goes, so I know they'll have a wonderful time. Like you RosiesMaw yesterday's stabbings in Amsterdam gave me pause for thought, but these episodes of wickedness seem to be prevalent these days. If you want to be completely safe you wouldn't set foot outside your own garden! Anyway, DGD3 and I are meeting them for a Mother's Day dinner on Sunday evening to hear all about it - and I've just had a message from DGD1 to say they've landed!
Anyway, the clouds are amassing nicely so time to hang the washing out before it starts to rain 😉😂 Have a good day everyone, whatever you choose to do.

monk08 Fri 28-Mar-25 10:42:30

NannyJan just asked DH his club have fished the canal there but not the fishery, but he is considering it for a midweek contest when there are less members fishing.

Sheian57 Fri 28-Mar-25 13:57:35

Hello from sunny Manchester. Got up at 6.30 and attended an online mass at 7. At 7.30 went out for a lovely walk along the canal with my dog, taking in the wonderful birdsong. Back home st 9 and ate breakfast. I then tackled my wardrobe to put some winter clothes away and then cleaned 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Had lunch at 1 and thinking of doing a bit of ironing. So I feel I have made the best of the day. It's chippy tea tonight. Have a good weekend all.

Cateq Fri 28-Mar-25 14:32:45

Good afternoon from a cold, wet and windy East Dunbartonshire. We’ve had a few hail showers today, with some very heavy showers. The birthday balloons I picked up for my DGD2nd birthday almost took flight when a gust of wind caught the bag as I was trying to fit them into the car.

mabon1 Fri 28-Mar-25 15:00:21

I thought twilight was evening time, not morning.

Grandmabatty Fri 28-Mar-25 16:17:40

Twilight is:
the soft glowing light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon, caused by the reflection of the sun's rays from the atmosphere.
From the Oxford dictionary. Therefore could be either morning or evening

kittylester Fri 28-Mar-25 16:24:12

Well done GBatty

Nicksmrs46 Fri 28-Mar-25 16:35:24

Sounds like a lovely day for you Michael and the weather is going to be kind to us 🤞. Enjoy your fish and chips , we’re having some later !
