Good Morning Saturday 29th March 2025
(55 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its daylight and its a dry start here in brackley.
usual routine today with a bus trip to Bicester ,shop and chat to those I know .
return a snack lunch and then a Chinese take Away later after a afternoon of cycling on TV.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick
Taichinan beautiful
It’s gorgeous Taichinan.
Thank you Jaxjacky, I'm thrilled with it!
Another stunning bouquet Tauchinan
Eclipse? What eclipse?! As usual when there is what I call 'a sky event' we have a thick blanket of grey sky! So disappointing, but never mind. Good morning all.
Eclipse not withstanding, it's been a very jumbled-up morning here with updates from DD and DGD1 in Amsterdam, making arrangements with DGD3 for tomorrow before we all meet up in the evening, a conversation with DS2 about 'something' he expected to have been delivered here yesterday but wasn't (arriving today) and a blether with Lovely Gardener and his grandson in the garden (where it was freezing). All lovely of course, but I feel quite discombobulated!
As I didn't get much sleep last night I think I shall be giving up on today anyway - my brain and body seem to have become detached from each other. So the bare basics it is - tidy kitchen and a ready meal from the freezer for later which won't untidy the kitchen again with a spot of reading between times, and no doubt the odd period of shut-eye. I shall also settle down and read through the thread, which I haven't had a chance to do yet.
So have a lovely day everyone - I've no doubt there'll be a few flower deliveries!
Good morning from a dry and cloudy midlands.
Had a lovely birthday. DH surprise just wasn’t funny but I went along with it.
Quilting today and out for a late birthday meal with eldest son and family. Also early Mother’s Day treat. Just wish my estranged daughter would get in touch. Sad.
Good morning mick and all.
I hope you all have a good day. It’s fine outside, a bit breezy but not so much as yesterday by the looks of things.
I’ve not read all the posts yet, but will have a catch up shortly. I did see those beautiful flowers though, Ash. How lovely they look.
I’m hoping to do a few garden tasks today all being well.
Take care folks.
Good morning from South Lanarkshire, chilly as usual, mind you it is March! You’re brave Grandmabatty, putting away your warm dressing gown!
Lovely flowers Ash and feeling stronger, that’s great.
I’ll bet you were as nervous as your DGD grandMattie, glad she did so well.
Llfl is your pen name Mary Berry?😊 Your cakes sound amazing, my mouth waters just reading about them.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend and good health, family here and I only have to do my ‘signature’ scrambled eggs for breakfast tomorrow👏
Good morning Mick and all. I almost didn't turn out on parade this morning, but I'm here. Thank you for all the kind wishes! To MaryDoll, who always finds time to send good wishes to others despite her health problems - right back at you! No idea what is wrong with me, I think I may need a good shake! Or as my Dad used to say, 'a rub down with an oily rag' perhaps!
My DGS decided as I wasn't well enough to pick him up that he would come by bus. 3 hours criss-crossing around Cheshire! Poor lad. He likes to come on Fridays when the two of us have takeaway and a film. Wasn't much in the mood last night, but he was fine about it. Very concerned though as he doesn't often see me like this.
Have a good day out and about whatever you have planned. Kind thoughts to those unwell and with worries.
Good morning from a dull still Co Armagh, no chance of seeing the eclipse
I’m up early , practising for the hour change 🤣
My tomato seeds are a disappointment , one variety (my favourite) has only one showing , the other variety, from Lidl all are growing , but I’m not too sure if they are as nice
Cucumber and basil are cluttering up the spare room window sills , but it’s too cold out in the unseated greenhouse , roll on warmer weather
I’ve washing to do , wonder if they are as bed will survive for another few days , I can strip it ok , but putting on that fitted sheet is getting harder !
I have lovely flowers and cards to look at and lunch to look forward to tomorrow
Wishing all the best day they can enjoy x
Off to London to the theatre with D3 today. Spent at least an hour last night going through the wardrobe, trying and rejecting things to wear.
Sunny but cold but will it be cold in town? and London so possibly not my usual jeans. Winter is actually much easier.
I am reminded of a scene in a film from years ago when the woman character surveyed her wall to wall wardrobes and announce “Nothing to wear as far as the eye can see”
But hey why do I care- nobody’s going to be looking at me as my Mum used to remind me
A pleasant day and weekend to you all.
Play the piano, got a dodgy P key on my laptop.
Good morning from a dry but cool NE.
DS and GD will be visiting this afternoon, always lovely to have her lay the piano while she is here. Incidentally it was the piano's 50th birthday on Thursday, it is a beautiful instrument and has served us well.
My sincere condolences Granmarie
Good morning from County Durham.
A busy week wallpaper stripping the hall and staircase in preparation for the walls to be skimmed. We've worked really hard on them, plasterer not due until late spring but we can live with the place prepared until then. Living space next on the list.
Tomorrow we're off to Switzerland, flying to Geneva first then our rail journey through the alps to follow. Packing today for a seven day adventure. Fingers crossed connections arrive and depart on time.
DGS3 is 10 years old today and he's been taken to Potters World. This super excited little boy was only told his destination yesterday when the family took their seats on the train to London after school. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of their weekend away.
I too have fond memories of visiting Malta Bella. I agree with others, you are indeed very lucky to live on such a beautiful island. My children were introduced to snorkeling there and have never forgotten the experience in that sparkling clear water.
Wishing Marydoll and others feeling unwell some relief today.
Good morning from a bright if chilly N. Bucks.
DD2s house move went well yesterday until she actually got into the house. When she viewed it she said it was very untidy and messy but it was very upsetting to find it absolutely filthy. We don’t think any housework had been done for months.
Especially hard when hers had been left sparkling clean.
Anyway 5 of us set to and by evening it looked a lot better but still more to do today. DGS1 ( her Nephew) will be joins to help as well. So another busy day cleaning and providing sustenance.
I haven’t read through the posts yet but hope you all see some sunshine and have a pleasant day.
I am shocked and saddened to hear the sad news from one of our lovely Glasgow grans, Granmarie. 🙏🕯
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bright sunny start to the day.
Such beautiful flowers Ash
I had a busy full on day yesterday so today I’m looking forward to a bit of a rest, but first we’re going out to a local garden centre for breakfast. I think we’ll probably come back with plants so that’ll be this afternoons jobs sorted
Enjoy your day out corner and everyone else out and about today
marydoll 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 6°C, with cloudy skies.
Sallyforth, I hope you are feeling better today.
What beautiful flowers, Ash! The postman delivered cards during the week, but I will keep them until tomorrow.
Well, yesterday didn't turn out as quite as planned. DH was surprised that I actually managed to get out in time, to catch the bus to the village. Then it was downhill after that! The bus failed to turn up, so I messaged DD to ask her to check the app. She said it was definitely on its way, then it was only two minutes away, then it disappeared into thin air.
By this time, I was frozen and said to DH, we will get the bus along to our own train station and meet DD in town. No bus came. I have come to the conclusion that there is a Bermuda Triangle in our area, which is sucking buses into a vortex.
We started to walk, or should I say, I hobbled to the station in the rain. Just as we got to the station, two buses arrived and the train left, when we were halfway up the path. 🤬
Not a good start to our adventure.
However, we did have an enjoyable Chinese meal, but because I can't eat much, my family had a feast, with my share! 🤣
As we were slightly early, I was allowed a look around Princes Square, lusting after the beautiful goods, while DH and SIL spent time in the whisky shop.
I was keeping my eye out for you, Kalu.
It was heartening to see Buchanan Street thriving once again, so many shops were affected by the pandemic. However, it was so busy, I felt a bit overwhelmed.
Afterwards, we went back to the village pub, for a couple of hours. I wasn't feeling great, but my family were none the wiser. We were having a pleasant time and I didn't want to spoil it.
Friday night is our night for watching several episodes of our favourite foreign crime series, it never happened. I was so tired, when we arrived home I went to bed and that was without having had a drink!.😉
Today, I have the parish bulletin and website to deal with, before going out early to unpack and check a huge delivery of candles, incense, palms etc. My protégé, the young sacristan will kindly assist me.
The PP was horrified at the cost. It is an expensive business, being religious.🤣
Lovely to hear the doings of those on holiday. FGT,, DH used Fuengirola as a base, when golfing in the Costa, I did love the market up the road.
Pants, I hope the weather improves a bit for you.
Unfortunately, I have not had any contact with my GP, despite leaving messages on Monday and Wednesday. I have resigned myself to the fact, that no-one has a solution and no-one actually cares. I am a nuisance!.
Like steroids, biologics are miracle drugs, until you start experiencing side effects, then they become the work of the devil! . My mouth just won't heal, but I have become used to it. 😔
I wish you all a pleasant day, enjoy your outings and birthday greetings to all who are celebrating. Why, why, why, enjoy your time with your family.
For those struggling, virtual hugs.
Good morning from a chilly but bright Black Country.
Another busy day yesterday. Two hour walk with u3a Walking Group, then coffee in cafe. Then onto Mums to take her food shopping.
DD's this afternoon for an early Mothers Day afternoon Tea. Then we are off to DS's Sunday for lunch. Not very often I see him on Mothers Day, so couldn't turn down the invitation. DD is off to her MIL's Sunday.
I really fancy visiting Malta, any recommendations where to stay would be appreciated.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Morning, bright sun in S Hants, Happy Birthday Mrluluaugust 🎂, enjoy your day out madeleine.
We have a houseful, daughter and grandchildren still asleep, MrJ, who felt fluey last night, is too.
Yesterday was definitely chilly, I nipped to the M&S Foodhall to pick up a dessert for tomorrow, my daughter is cooking a roast, went for a walk and cleaned downstairs.
Today is newspaper day.
Beautiful flowers Ash

Good morning from a bright sunny Suffolk. What a difference the sun makes to our day! We’ll have a quiet one today with the usual dog walk,a Waitrose delivery this afternoon and some time reading in the summerhouse.
DS and tribe are dropping in tomorrow for a light lunch and I’ve promised the DGC a lemon drizzle cake and flapjacks to take home so I’ll probably make those this evening.
Hope today is a good one for all.
Good Morning from Durham. Grey, windy and feeling cold again. Quite unpleasant out.
DGS2 was having an iffy day yesterday - tiring and I was pleased to get home! These outings are costing me a fortune - but can’t take it with me?
It’s a day of rest today, although I have Little Dog here, so he’ll get me out and about.
💐 SueD and Grannmarie
Best wishes to all. X
Thank you all for your kind words re. DGD. She’s not quite 15 so it took a lot of courage to do her solo.
