New Soop Kitchen in her absence
(1001 Posts)soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.
I love Tenby, but haven`t been for several years, sadly.
neine I’ve never been to Tenby, it looks beautiful and your site sounds idyllic. Fingers crossed for your Annulments.
llfl your tree peony looks lovely, I’m not very good with peonies, tree or the shrub kind. There was one in this garden when we moved here 40 years ago, it’s still alive, but only just and rarely flowers. I need to take better care of it.
sueD I hope your DH’s chemo goes well.
Enjoy the rest of the sunshine if you have it.
Gentle hugs for Yia and all ^you lovely lot* in need of comfort.
Our dear friend of fifty plus years has been on our minds since she was told that the treatment she's been having for the cancer she is suffering from (due to exposure to asbestos) has badly affected her kidney and liver. The treatment has now ceased. She lives in southern England. So many miles separate us. She is a delightful person. We have shared countless happy memories. Many of you will appreciate the feelings that we are dealing with.
Thank you for the lovely photographs. I trust that you will all be enjoying the sunshine.
Hi to all kitchen pals, hope ever is enjoying the beautiful weather as much as possible
We arrived safely in Mexico City last night and my brother picked us up from the airport. It’s was an 11 hour flight from Heathrow and we’d already flown down from Inverness so it was a very long day. We’re just recovering this morning, our little friendly hotel is like an oasis of calm in the centre of a very chaotic and busy Mexico City. Thank you for all your kind wishes, it means a lot when others are thinking of you ❤️
It’s only 9.30am here so just going to meet up for breakfast soon and then see what the day brings.
SueD a struggle ahead but I’m sure you’ll both get through it together. Your DGC sound exactly like mine! 🤣
Gorgeous pictures neine thanks for sharing
Soop ❤️
That’s sad news for you soop.
I have baked myself an apricot and almond cake today for my birthday on Saturday. It’s a girls meeting tonight to sort out some fundraising plans, so there will be snacks, cake and fizz. Since then I have been pottering in the garden. The sweetcorn and runner beans are planted, and most of the French beans. There are two empty canes, due to a snail I the greenhouse but replacements have been started.
There have been rats ( more than 2
) playing close to the house today. The bait box has been filled …
Time for tea - we don’t normally eat till at least 8 but people are coming at 7.
Hope everyone has a good evening
Sad news of your friend, Soop. I'm so sorry. Sending you a hug. ((()))

So sorry to hear about your friend, soop sending you lots of love.
We love Tenby neine - enjoy. Good luck with your annulment.
SueD, jmi'm sure you will be in all our thoughts and you know that you can offload here if you need to.
Soop I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. Suedonim a big virtual hug for you. Brook good luck with the day ahead. Nannytopsy I can't abide rats! I hope you get rid of them.
I've just woken up from a two hour nap I didn't mean to have! I came in from the school library and lay on my bed to read and off I dozed. Tonight I'll finish the cottage pie for dinner. Then watch tv, if I can stay awake. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Sorry to hear about your friend soop it must be difficult to be so far away.
nannytopsy how alarming to have rats close to the house, I hope they take the bait. Apricot and almond cake sounds tasty, I hope you have a happy birthday on Saturday.
Have a peaceful evening everyone. It looks as though the hot weather is retreating! It was nice while it lasted.
Evening from a still very warm Yorkshire.SueD thinking of you and your oh.
Nannytopsy good luck getting rid of rats .
Soop sad news about your friend.
Spent a lovely afternoon yesterday with friends.
Hi all, how very sad soop memories must be running through your mind ❤️
I hope you can grab a sleep brook a long flight, I hope today goes well.
Tenby when I was 15 neine, I had a two piece, sat on a rock to have my picture taken by Mum, a precocious child!
llfl I have peonies in bud, the anticipation, at only a few years old they’re still stunning me.
Stretch class today did stretch me after a 2 week absence by our teacher, felt virtuous afterwards.
I’m going to loose another molar soon, basically I have rubbish teeth, so ordered Indian for dinner tonight before I have to wear the part denture I wear very sporadically on a more permanent basis, with a tooth added.
Boy was my dansak hot ! Running eyes and nose, I thought I was a curry hard nut - must be getting old 🙂
Sued hard road ahead, we have your back xx
We have the 10yr old here for his sleepover, first BBQ of the year eaten outside.
(((hugs))) to all our kitchen friends with woes and illness.
soop it must be difficult to be so far away from your dear friend.
Nighty night 🙋♀️
Good evening kitchen friends, it’s been another lovely sunny day here. MrB and I have been talking about ways for me to get more exercise. I’m doing quite well but still need to be pushed in the wheelchair when we go out. It really brought it home when we went to vote. The polling station is in the bridge control building, which is just across the road from here, but I am not able to walk to it. We have ordered a tri walker which will be delivered on Tuesday and should allow me a bit more freedom. I don’t think MrB will allow me to go out on my own just yet though! I hope the dry weather will hold on a little longer so I can try it out.
Have a lovely evening xx 🌹
‘Evening All’.
We’ve enjoyed our day. I bumped into a friend in the square on my home from the doctor’s (blood pressure perfect, bloods - results tomo) and we sat outside with a glass of wine, people watching and catching up for ages! Lovely to see her.
The weather is set to cool a little tomorrow. and will ‘only’ be 19°C. We changed over to our summer duvet for tonight. Seems so thin! But we’d been kicking the thick one off during the night so I’m sure it’s time!
Thinking of you two soops in your sorrow tonight and also SueDonim regarding the next phase of treatment for your husband. Hoping for a good response on it and not too many side effects. 🤞
Hello kitchen people.
Gosh it’s been hot today! It was hotter than this when I was in Australia recently but that was more of a dry heat. It’s humid here.
After voting in the local elections, OH and I headed off to Chedworth Roman Villa for the day. I’ve been before, but he hadn’t. It is a beautiful place and we had a good time.
I had an email from the RSC telling me that a Winter’s Tale is on in July. We had booked to see it in 2020 but COVID intervened. I booked tickets for matinee.
Sleep 💤 tight.
The kind thoughts are appreciated, thank you. Xx
I’m so sorry about your friend, Soop. It’s a bitter pill to swallow.
Brook, I hope your journey and the event all passes without any difficulties. I am sure your brother will be so happy to see you.
I think I’m the only person who has never been to Tenby! So many friends rave about it and how lovely it is but somehow it’s never been on my radar. Maybe one day. Some years ago dh and I embarked on a round the coast of the UK trip, in stages but we never completed it (thanks, Covid). Tenby would have been on the next stage. Clockwise, we’ve covered from Ullapool, round the top of Scotland, down the east coast, the south coast and round the West Country as far as Bristol. Wales was next on the schedule. I doubt we’ll complete it now, though.
I had a nice afternoon out with a group of friends. We met at a new friend’s house, in a glorious rural setting with views for miles all around. Tomorrow we’ll take our GS out somewhere then ds2 arrives early evening for the weekend, followed by dd2 on Saturday. We’re continuing dh’s Big Birthday celebrations - there’s no such thing as too much cake. 🎂
Sleep tight, everyone. Xxx
Dear Soop....hold onto your sentence...Countless happy memories...they will comfort you in the days to come. ♥️♥️♥️
Well I am afraid that today we have to take the bird feeders down. They are well used and give us tremendous pleasure but the sudden influx of rats is amazing. They were coming off the bank down onto the patio last evening and they are already out and about this morning. They are the thing about country living we don’t enjoy!
It doesn’t help that our neighbour runs a rabbit and Guinea pig sanctuary in her small back garden, which is full of cages and runs.
Love to SueD and family - enjoy the family weekend.
Nannytopsy, that's why I stopped putting out bird feeders. In my case, it was mice.
nannytopsy and grandmabatty I stopped putting out bird feeders because of rats, but my next door neighbour still puts out feeders near the house! I keep a close eye out for any that may wander into my garden.
If I put out bird feeders, it would be a running buffet for Milo and Ripley!
Hello Kitcheners another lovely day although starting to get a bit overcast.
Many thanks as always to all who commented on my A&E visit your very kind.I think your right Niene, this last year has taken its toll and your body can only take so much.I now have heart monitor and ultrasound booked for June.Very good that I’m being checked out.I love Tenby it must be glorious in this weather, enjoy.
I’m now starting to think about our holiday it’s a week on Monday and we both can’t wait.
Thinking of you SueD and pray that all goes well.My DH can’t have chemo but so far so good.🤞
Enjoy the sunshine everyone and kind thoughts to the Soops and all that need it.
Good afternoon Kitcheners, today has been a good day. It’s a beautiful sunny afternoon. MrB took me for a trundle down to the river, where we saw a pair of terns swooping and diving and a pair of shelduck taking advantage of the incoming tide to float effortlessly up to the dock entrance. The sun was so warm and pleasant, not quite as hot as recent days.
Now we’re home I have done half an hour on my mini pedaller, a compact useful piece of exercise equipment that takes up far less room than the large exercise bike did. It can be used on the floor to exercise my legs or a table top to exercise my arms. After all that I need a nap 😴. I’m listening to Morris West’s ‘Vatican’ trilogy at the moment, it seemed fitting given current events.
I’m sorry if my posts seem rather self obsessed at the moment, but there are some major shifts taking place in my life. I do read all your news and wish you all that you need in your lives. xx 🌹
BlossomingYour not at all self obsessed. You have gone through so much and it’s lovely to see you back posting.❤️
