Good morning from sunny East Lothian. We had a good drive up from the south coast on Wednesday/Thursday. We stayed overnight in Harrogate and spent Thursday morning there - visited the Pump Room Museum and bought some Yorkshire rascals in Betty’s (a mix of fruit ones and gooey ones) to take to DD and family.

It’s lovely to see the family ‘for real’, not via a computer screen. DD has just replaced her mobility scooter with a new electric wheelchair. She is still getting used to it but it promises to give her more independence.

I am so sorry to hear of your sister’s death, Sallyforth. It’s lovely that you had such a close relationship but that makes your loss even harder to bear 💐

Also sad to hear of your Mum’s death Grandmabatty. You were such a loyal and caring daughter in spite of the difficulties of your relationship 💐

Blossoming, hope your health continues to improve 💐

And Marydoll, you deserve some respite from your many health problems - why is life so unfair?

Jaxjacky, that seems a very nasty bug your DH has. Would your GP be able to prescribe something to settle things down? Hope he feels better very soon.

I am required now to help put up a shelf and coat hooks on our landing so better sign off. Hope all who can, enjoy the sunshine.

karmalady

Good morning from s somerset, sunny, warm and windy today

I need to rest my right hand today, I overworked it as usual. I spent hours on my plot yesterday morning, met some more people there dug weeds and planted broad beans

I cannot knit today as the needles are like small matchsticks, nor should I spin, I could sew but that depends on the actual wind chill outside, if it feels chilly then I will machine sew.

I ordered a wax hand bath which will be delivered today. It is arriving today and will help my hand recover more quickly

Reading today and total relaxation for me, too windy for cycling which does not hurt my hand so I will include a walk into my morning instead.

Have a good day

I hope the hand bath works for you. I had one a while ago and it seemed to work brilliantly, with the pain easing in the warm wax, but when I took my hand out, the pain returned within half an hour. Not the fault of the wax bath, obviously! The other thing I disliked was the ridiculously long time it took to warm up. To summarise: I would never buy or use one again.

Just popping in to wish Blossoming all the best and thoughts to Grandmabatty Susan and all with worries.

mamaa Wed 02-Apr-25 10:18:30

Phone was off for most of the day as we were travelling back from our holiday so sorry for late catch up.
Sending my late condolences to grandmabatty and get better soon thoughts to those unwell. 💐
I was a #lazygran ala FGT style, yesterday because when finally got home, we ordered a chinese for dinner and decided that technically the holiday wasn’t over until today- so unpacking is about to commence. x

dustyangel Wed 02-Apr-25 09:32:57

Good morning everyone. Belated condolences to*Granmabatty*. I’m glad that you are being supported by your daughter with the very many necessary tasks there are to do. 💐

It’s very windy here this morning but not yet raining. With luck the weather should improve at the end of the week.
I’ll read through properly and catch up with you all later.

GrannySomerset Wed 02-Apr-25 09:10:46

A very mixed bag of posts this morning, so healing thoughts to many who are having a hard time. Lovely sunshine but a vicious wind yesterday and today looks similar. I have singing this afternoon and local history society this evening so need to get organised. Hope the day is better for all those unwell and worried.

harrigran Wed 02-Apr-25 08:51:13

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Yesterday's dental appointment was fine, no work needed. I was in and out before my appointment time.
Today I need to sort out some financial business and then I am free to do whatever I want.
Get well soon Blossoming.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 02-Apr-25 08:48:48

Oh Blossoming that’s not the news we wanted to hear dear lady. At least you are feeling better now. Such a shame your delicious fish lunch did a two way trip Marydoll. Mind you your busy day ahead puts mine to shame. You never stop. I’d be resigning from the church duties and just attend services now as a parishioner - but then I’m #lazygran. Sar53 good to hear your teenage granddaughter is home again. You can drop your shoulders down now from beside your ears. 👏

Jaxjacky Wed 02-Apr-25 08:39:49

Morning from a sunny S Hants, there’s no rain in the immediate forecast and it’s needed, not like the wet Spring last year.
Blossoming sorry to hear you’ve been so ill, I hope you will be home soon 🌹
Good news on your granddaughter Sar.
MrJ is entering day 5 of whatever bug he has, up twice in the night, nothing bland he's eaten will stay put, not even dry toast, he’s miserable, understandably.
In his place I went to watch our grandson and his football team win their league last night, happy faces.
Safe travels today, that’s you FGT 🙂

Good morning from Cambridgeshire.

💐 to all those that are struggling 🤗

I am off walking again this morning with DD2 so it will be a brisk fast one 😬 All this exercise and dietary meals is exhausting me! I’m sure however (hope) I’m going to feel fitter and (maybe) thinner in the long term!! I may just have a lazy afternoon though (lazy gran) as no childcare but the garden does need some attention but there is always tmrw I guess and should be warmer tomorrow. I don’t like this chilly wind we have currently.

Have the best day possible everyone 🙏

Good morning from a sunny but chilly Co Armagh
I’m all ready for our trip out , the bus leaves at 9
Thoughts with all the poorly 🕯️

BlueSapphire Wed 02-Apr-25 08:13:49

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, wall to wall sunshine 🌞 again today, so I got up early and sorted out some cruise clothes to go in the washing machine.

Had a lovely walk yesterday afternoon with the group, and then sat out in the garden with my book and the cats when I got home.

I had made a huge batch of veggie chilli in the slow cooker yesterday, had one portion for dinner and now have six more portions for the freezer; they have been chilling in the fridge overnight.

My covid jab this afternoon then need to visit the post office as the dress I had ordered from Roman was not right for me. Perhaps I shall see something in Milton Keynes tomorrow.

Hope all those feeling poorly get some respite soon, especially poor blossoming in hospital.

May the sun shine on all today.

EkwaNimitee Wed 02-Apr-25 07:55:15

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.

Yesterday was really warm and sunny so I abandoned much of my inside jobs and went out in the garden. In the morning I mowed the lawn then crawled around tidying up its edges. In the afternoon, I planted a new little conifer, not such a quick job as it meant dealing with the clayey part of the garden so a largish excavation was needed. Then I decided to move another conifer. In between it was coffee and a book out in the sun. However, similarly to karmalady, I now need to rest the right hand, I have strained my dodgy thumb joint again.

Today, ironing and bathroom cleaning plus some necessary admin, then it's reading catch up time.

I didn't realise you were in hospital Blossoming, best wishes for a speedy recovery and I hope you're home soon.

GG13, thanks for the mention of English asparagus in M&S. I'm in town tomorrow so must go and check it out. I can never get enough of it, so much better than the imports though I indulge in those most days too.

I wish you all a pleasant day if possible.

Liberty Wed 02-Apr-25 07:54:47

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk. As I have an all day Teams meeting,I Shan’t feel much of the sun directly today. Hope to get outside during the lunch break.

So sorry to hear you are in hospital Blossoming but hope that the lovely view you describe is helping to sustain you.

Hope today is a good one for all especially those unwell or with worries to cope with.

Georgesgran Wed 02-Apr-25 07:51:55

Good Morning from Durham where it’s going to be another fine, sunny day, once the gloom has cleared.
Thankfully my leak was repaired first thing Monday, so it’s an opportunity to sort out the contents of the airing cupboard while the floor dries out.
Today, a chap is coming to price replacing my shed roof - no time given, so sooner rather than later I hope, although I’ve nothing scheduled for today.

💐 all who need and deserve them.

Best wishes to all. X

grandMattie Wed 02-Apr-25 07:50:27

💐💐💐💐to MD, Blossoming and any others fell they need a virtual hug.

Annapops Wed 02-Apr-25 07:47:45

For Marydollthanks, and others who are feeling unwell. I hope some solution is found to free you from the discomfort and pain you are enduring.

Annapops Wed 02-Apr-25 07:45:12

Good morning from St Moritz. A stop over before continuing our rail journey across Switzerland. Yesterday the Glacier Express lived up to all expectations. The views were indeed magnificent and the climb both exciting and nerve wracking. I loved it, especially high among the snow layer watching skiers and cable cars go by. I've never known eight hours in a train pass by so quickly. I didn't dare or desire to close my eyes at all.

Today more trains as we travel on to our next destination and prepare for our cable car and cog wheel train journey on Thursday.

Condolences to Grandmabatty. I am sad to hear of your loss and thankful that your DD is alongside you to help and support. Sending thanks to you both.

FGTI hope you continue to enjoy your happy place and are able to return again soon.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

Susan56 Wed 02-Apr-25 07:42:27

Good morning from Shropshire where another sunny day is forecast.

I had my stitches removed yesterday and the wound is looking good so moving in the right direction.

I am hoping to go withDH to take DGD to her dance class later.

My thoughts are with Grandmabatty and Sallyforth.

Also hoping Marydoll, Blossoming and all unwell see some improvement in their health🙏🏻

Have a good day everyone🌻🦩

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 02-Apr-25 07:41:15

Good morning everybody from Málaga where it’s another gorgeous start to the day. I’ve stripped the beds and put the new washer on. These sheets will be dry by lunchtime and we don’t call a taxi to the airport until 3pm. I’ll wipe any shelves and ledges with a damp cloth, sweep and mop so it’ll all be fresh for our next visit, which we hope will be in May. 🤞

I just stood at the front door now and the scent of the pine trees from the mountains is gorgeous! I will miss this.

luluaugust Wed 02-Apr-25 07:33:34

Good morning from a sunny W Kent.
Best wishes Blossoming
I went to my Bank hub yesterday for the first time, it is in a local hotel now. I think I managed to sort everything out
Yesterday afternoon I had my Covid jab at a local pharmacy. The lady doing it asked me if I had been behaving, I said I hadn’t and an hilarious five minutes ensued. I had her life history, she had come to this country in 1971 as a midwife and then health visitor. I don’t know what the waiting queue thought!
Today I am drinking tea with a DF.
Thinking of all those who are unwell or have a difficult day ahead

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a sunny still but very cold looking morning in North Yorkshire.

I am feeling very weary but pleased and grateful to be getting back to a life. Yesterday there was plenty needing to be done but was in such a bad way physically that I knew I couldnt do much . So rather than sit here being frustrated I awarded myself a day off, stuck some bits in the car and joy of joy went back up to Swaledale. It felt so lovely to be able to drive through the countryside to all the places I love.

So went up through wensleydale but on the quieter route through Askrigg, stopping at the little parking place I know where you are by the clear beck with a bridge over it. Stood on the bridge watching and listening to the water and hearing the birds.

Then on over the buttertubs and up to my special place. Got the binoculars out and managed a little walk stopping to look around. Wonderful, as it had been so long since I was able to get there and had wondered at times if I ever would get back.

So today meeting a friend for coffee at a near by garden centre, but will be very strong and not buy any plants. It is too cold to plant anything out and havent got a greenhouse or cold frame here so nowhere to keep them safe. Also I need to get someone to dig out the buddleia that they chopped down and do a bit of planning for flowers for the borders. We are very late here not a sign of any leaves on the tree at the back yet, and have daffodils and some lovely magnolias out in the town, but dont know if they will have been frosted last night,

Then this afternoon need to catch up with some housework and a bit of ironing and then off to the whist drive tonight. What an exciting life I lead!! I am carefully ignoring all the news at the moment. I just want to enjoy remembering yesterday and how much the day lifted my spirits.

Wishing you all a day that goes well

ginny Wed 02-Apr-25 07:26:52

Good morning from N. Bucks where at we should get sunshine as the day goes on.
DH is off to golf and has just delivered a cuppa to me. I’ll enjoy that and then get going.
Two kitchen cupboards to sort out today and an outing to arrange for our WI.
Lunch in the garden hopefully and then craft club this afternoon. I can relax there as someone else is leading the project today.
WI this evening , all about cheese, hopefully some samples too.
Wishing all a good day .

Redcar Wed 02-Apr-25 07:15:19

sar56 good that your GD is home from hospital, I hope she’s recovered now and will be able to back to school soon.
fgt safe journey home this afternoon.

Marydoll Wed 02-Apr-25 07:15:04

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 3°C. Blossoming, I got a shock, when I read your message this morning. I have a full on morning but will catch up with you later.

Such sadness on this thread yesterday, GMbatty and Sallyforth, you are in my prayers.

Yesterday started well, both sets of spectacles fixed and new ones picked up, special order made for the safe keys and a delicious fish lunch.
It went downhill after that. We stopped off at Morrisons on the way home and I began to feel unwell. I just wanted home, but DH is such a fouterer and kept faffing about, choosing beer!
I barely got in the door, when I was violently sick. I then fell asleep for ages. What a waste of a beautiful afternoon, I had planned to work in the garden.
I am thoroughly fed up with my poor health. This has become the norm, rather than having days of respite.

We have two school runs today and a drama club drop off. After dropping Dollie off, we are popping into DD's, which is just around the corner, to admire see her new bathroom. I phoned her to say that we were in the independent fruit shop and did she want anything. She was looking for blood oranges ( I thought she was attempting to make marmalade 😉), it was in fact for her gin! 🤣
Also, I have a funeral to attend and boxes and boxes of palms, candles, altar wine etc to check and unpack.I shall look for a friend to assist.
It is going to be a busy day!

Borrheid, it is the funeral of the mother of one of our former classmates, Diana, whose parents were Italian.

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans. I mush dash to make Dollie's Scotch pancakes, I am aiming for a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Trip Advisor review. 😉
