Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and cold here in brackley this morning.
Plans for the day I am tempted to get the bus to Bicester ,as there is a restaurant near shops which has a good name for fried breakfasts , tempted to try ,as I feel I need to line my stomach with fatty food it may improve my health.
Health wise OK ,
Take Care,
Mick
Oh Marydoll you made me laugh as always! Sorry to hear of your shopping frustrations though.
Gingster I’m delighted that your husband’s scan gave you some reassuring news. I hope he makes steady progress going forward as it must be a worry.
hollysteers I’m sure I’m not the only nosy curious poster wondering who your celebrity cousin is!
Good morning (just) everyone from south Manchester where I’m late on parade. I’ve been minding L’il Miss and am home now. We went to the play park it was so sunny. ⚽️ for the Boy Wonder was over in Warrington (they lost).
Himself has a stomach bug so stayed home in bed and he’s not coming with me this evening to babysit. I shall drive myself over and back tonight. L’il Miss was amazed that I drive (ha!). Off to read the thread now …
Good morning all from a longstanding lurker! I just wanted to agree with Grandmattie. I started getting ‘bites’ but it turned out that I am allergic to the casings which carpet beetles shed, called woolly bears! Carpet beetles are quite active in the spring. We had the house fumigated and now try and keep on top of the dusting - try being the operative word as I am not a fan. They are quite common but some people react to the casings unfortunately.
Good morning all,
Lovely sunshine here at the moment.
Greyduster I’m sorry to read about the loss of your friend - such a shock for you. 💐.
For those with bites…
It reminds me of a time DD‘s girls had what looked like bed-louse bites. A visit from the council pest chap said it was carpet bugs. A fumigation was done. Problem solved.
Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Art yesterday morning and good company as always.
DSon came over later and we went to see my pop singer cousin on tour. A full house, we had complimentaries and I was so proud that he had done so well. His banter between songs is worth a visit alone. I owe him a lunch. My aunt would have been so proud too.
We had a meal beforehand in a new restaurant to me of my choosing. A little more expensive than my recent forays, but crisp white tablecloths and a good stroganoff.
DSon here today and on repair duty😁 broken specs, bathroom lights etc.
Thoughts to Gingster and all🌺
Good morning everyone. Yesterday's grey cold start turned into a beautiful, sunny warm afternoon, so there's hope for today's grey start 🤞
I believe in many of the old sayings Mick. There's one - a little of what you fancy does you good - so I hope that as I type you are tucking into a tasty fry up! Not to be repeated any time soon if course, so savour it!
Enjoy your day out Madeleine - though I doubt you'll be needing the swimming costume today 😉
Marydoll!! It's odd how some days nothing goes right.
Monk it's amazing what they can do these days, isn't it. That distance monitoring of your DH's condition is fantastic and it must be very comforting to know it's not only there but actually being monitored.
Gingster I'm so glad your DH is improving gradually and is comfortable in his new room.
I hope the source of the insect bites is soon discovered grannyivy - the down side of good weather. It's still too cold for them here, but that's what usually chases me away from spending too long by my little pond.
I have nothing planned for today, but there's lots of this and that requiring my attention and which I shall nibble away at quite happily. My gardener and his apprentice grandson will be here shortly, and the washing in the machine will soon be ready to hang out, so off I go. Enjoy your day 🌞🪻🌷🌱
I agree aggie I like to see what I’m getting but I do an o line shop twice a month and order things like potatoes and heavy milk cartons etc, then twice a month I can walk round and buy fish and other small bits. I go to a butcher separately. Last time in my online shop I received Crunchy Nut cornflakes instead of ordinary ones and fear I may now be hooked on them!
Good Morning everyone from a sunny cool Co Armagh
Seedlings are getting leggy ! Not enough light on my windowsills , but too cold in the greenhouse
Marydoll I like to see what I’m buying , I’ve never had online grocery shop , I’m sure it would save me a fortune !
I can’t drive , so to get out of the house and driven to a big shopping mall was my weekly treat , I can never understand how any one hates shopping , well except clothes shopping , or shoe shopping for 6 children !
Hoping for a lovely day for all xx
Morning from South Lanarkshire, very cool but blue skies appearing. there was a very chilly wind again yesterday but I am fortunate that my back garden is quite a sun trap and I enjoyed the afternoon sitting out and later in my garden room.
I feel guilty when I read about all you green fingered ladies working so hard but I did enjoy my book and chatting on the phone!
Mass yesterday morning was an absolute treat, the primary school were there as it was the last day of term and their singing was lovely. A group of about twenty children were in the choir loft and sang two of the hymns in parts, I was so glad I had made the uphill trek to get there!
Gingster and her DH in my thoughts.
Youngest DD will be here for a quick breakfast this morning (mum’s scrambled eggs😊) after doing her monthly Parkrun with her Sands group which is fairly near here and later I am meeting friends for our regular lunch and chat. We may discuss a coach trip to Ireland.
Wishing everyone the best weekend possible.

Marydoll what a dreadful shopping experience. How about doing the food shop online and going to TKMaxx for your outing. 🙂
This week I’ve had to resort to online food shopping. I really miss browsing around Lidl but I’ve had to be realistic about what I can manage physically, especially when DH is in France. The problems I have with mobility stem from an event with a heavily laden Lidl trolley last November.
This week I had a grocery delivery from Asda which went well. The young man arrived 15 minutes early and unpacked all the items on to my kitchen worktops, making it easy for me to stow them.
It reminded me of the pandemic days when such deliveries or Click and Collect were a regular feature of life!
Gingster sorry to hear you have bites as well. I changed the bed linen on Wednesday but wondering if I should do it again. Let’s hope no more bites for either of us Also do hope your DH progresses well and will soon be home.
Glammagran how strange. I guess I won’t find the culprit.
Good morning from a dry NE where the temperature will remain in single figure.
Did the bare minimum of housework yesterday and spent the rest of the day binge watching the first series of Black Snow.
DS and GD will come this afternoon after GD has finished her shift at the charity shop where she volunteers as part of her DOE award.
Have a good weekend.
Marydoll thank you he is asymptomatic and gets no pain, before his bypass he was told his heart was like a light switch would just stop no warning hence the need for ICD after the bypass.
Sorry you had such a stressful time shopping hope for a less stressful day today for you.
Marydoll what a horrible experience for you while shopping! Sadly, my brother's raison d'etre is to cause angst. 😂
Morning everyone from a bright and sunny S E Essex.
Local shop first thing, then I really must get to grips with the ironing pile, hopefully I will find a film to watch whilst doing it.
Oh Marydoll all I can say is only you could have a shopping experience like the one you have described, not sure if I should laugh or cry?
Gingster sending you (((hugs))) you and your DH are entering unknown territory, pleased you have such a supportive family close by.
Grandmabatty take it easy 🌸
Marydoll I’m sorry you had such a stressful time. No the wonder you feel exhausted on top of everything else.
Sending hugs to all who are struggling.
I’m feeling full of woe is me but I need to get going and stop wallowing in it!

I do online food shops, but because Asda was so near the surgery, I thought I would go.
I hadn't factored in DH's landscaping project.
Monk. I hope you DH is O.K.
GrannyIvy how very odd. I too was bitten on my legs in March for 2 consecutive years and never did find out why. I never went outside with bare legs at that time of year. I hope you find the culprit.

The sunshine is a joy but the wind is vicious so anything out of doors will need sheddable layers, but it is so nice to be outside after what feels like a long winter. No plans for the weekend but I must visit my neighbour with dementia to see if she is still giving the nursing home hell. Meanwhile I am admiring a garden full of blossom and welcoming spring - for the moment, at least.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 6°C.
Warning, novella alert. Feel free to scroll on.😉
A huge thank you to Kelly at GNHQ, who yesterday deleted the very unflattering picture of my neck, I posted. My eyes were streaming, when I woke up, and I was having trouble seeing.
I really have turned into a stupid old biddy.
Yesterday, I struggled to get going after my busy day with BabyD and was out much later than planned.
My body is protesting at the lack of biologics, you never know what you have until it is gone.😉
I didn't think they had been effective, but I now realise they actually were lessening my pain..
Unfortunately the day was was rather problematic, a catalogue of disasters.
After visiting the surgery, I went to Asda, which was nearby. I spotted healthy looking large acers, which DH was looking for, to fill the space in the garden, where the trees had died.
I phoned him to ask if he wanted the small or larger ones. He chose the larger ones, because, we probably won't live long enough to see the small ones grow tall enough.. I asked if he wanted one or two, he decided we needed six! I then realised that along with the two plum trees I had bought, there was no room for my grocery shopping and two trips were required.
DH was of course resting at home, because he was exhausted after his day with BabyD.😉
I was already tired by the time, I went back in to do the grocery shopping .I always use self scan, because I struggle to unpack the trolley and pack the bags. All went well, until I started to pay.
I had already called over the grumpy assistant twice, because the terminal was acting up.
Just as I went to pay, the till crashed. Yet again, I called the assistant over, she was not happy.
Nothing she did to sort it worked..
You will have to go to a manual checkout, she said. I explained that I physically struggled with manual checkouts and I had already been held up.
She responded with, Nothing I can do. I was absolutely fuming at her attitude, 😡😡😡😡😡
The shop was so busy and I was feeling tearful at my feebleness and lack of stamina.
A customer pointed out a new till opening and actually helped me with my trolley, only to find a young man pushing in front of me. He only had one item, so I said nothing.
This was not a good move. He had picked up beetroot, but it had no bar code. Repeated calls for a price check fell on deaf ears. Ten minutes later, we were still waiting.
Eventually, it was my turn, only for the till to break down, halfway through scanning my goods. 😭
This was the last straw.
The supervisor was so rude to the poor assistant, asking her what she had done to break the till!!!!
I decided to go to customer service to make a complaint, only to be told no-one was available, but someone would phone me today! 😡
I couldn't work out how to get outside, the way out was blocked by mountains of toilet rolls. Back through the dreaded self scanning area, my receipt in my hand, to prove I was not a shoplifter.
I eventually got to my car and feeling a bit breathless, decided to sit for a while.
It was then that I realised that I had forgotten to pick up an urgent prescription from the instore pharmacy. It couldn't have been all that urgent or I would have remembered it. 🤣
Back into the store for the fourth time,. I am sure the security guard thought I was a shoplifter.
My plans for a visit to TKMaxx were ditched, I am not that foolhardy, but I did need to go to Home Bargains for an essential item, (my mini bottles of Prosecco!), I am allowed one glass of wine and this is my treat.
Unfortunately, the bottles wouldn't scan, either with the scanner or manually inputting the bar code.
A very long queue built up behind me. I apologised to everyone, but said that I was not leaving without it! 😉
Poor DH was beside himself with worry at my lengthy absence. There seems to be a problem with the phone signal in that area, so I could not contact him.
I have come to the conclusion that some people lead charmed lives and others ( me) have more than their fair share of ill health and attract disasters on a regular basis.
I must have been very wicked in a previous life!! 😉
Today I have a meeting about the parish fête, I am responsible for the Wheel of Fortune, a huge money spinner. (Note the pun.)
Then Vigil Mass tonight, another busy day ahead.
I hope to read better news of Gingster's husband.
Sending hugs to all, who are struggling.
GMB, I hope your meeting with the Registrar went well and Your brother is not causing too much angst.
Have a good weekend folks, whatever your plans. The sun is just breaking through, hopefully another sunny day ahead.
Good morning from a sunny Black Country, where it has been lovely the last 3 or 4 days!
Busy day yesterday. Took Mum to Memory Cafe, then lunch in Wolverhampton and a mooch around the town.
Today I think I will clean the windows and surrounds. I do it twice a year whether it needs it or not!
A worrying time for you both Monk but it seems the Hospital are keeping a close eye.
Wishing you all the best day possible
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and misty. Hopefully that'll lift soon. Whywhywhy I hope you get to the bottom of the headaches. Kalu I hope you feel better soon. There's nothing worse than a cold when the sun is shining! Brook enjoy your weekend with your dh.
Yesterday I picked up the death certificate from the surgery then visited my library which was teeming with wee people doing an Easter activity. In the afternoon, I went to the registrar and mum's death was registered. The registrar also did Tell us once with me and sent it off, which was really helpful. When I got home, a cousin of mine had sent me a beautiful bouquet. My adrenaline then stopped working and I couldn't face making anything to eat. I also felt a bit dodgy because of the after effects of the shingles jag. I was telling dd who promptly ordered me a curry. She's a star.
Today I'm out for breakfast with a good friend and her daughter. We'll meet at the usual garden centre. It will be nice to do something non funeral related. This afternoon will be housework etc, then the rest of last night's curry. Have a good day all
