Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but cold and dry here in brackley this morning.
Today apart from meals I will be watching cycling on TV for most of the day which features a cycle race around the Flanders fields in Belgium.
Yesterday I decided to do my own all day breakfast fry up .
Health Is OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all, very late but nevertheless here. There's been a lot of family WhatsApp toing and fro-ing this morning as there often is on a Sunday and which is lovely.
As I was getting dressed this morning I thought it was strange that I couldn't find my favourite socks. The washing was up-to-date...... And then I realised - the washing was indeed up-to-date, but it hadn't made its way to the washing line! Oh silly me. Good help is so hard to find these days ...... But it's out there now, enjoying the sunshine.
I had such a sad shock yesterday. I had heard from the daughter of an old schoolfriend that her Dad had died. My friend herself has Alzheimer's so we haven't been in touch for a while - she can't write and I can't hear on the phone. Anyway, I wrote to her. Then yesterday another message from the daughter to say that she too had died, they had managed to delay her Dad's funeral and my friend and her husband are being given a joint funeral. That news was such a shock - but at the same time I couldn't help feeling how lucky my friend was not to have had to go through the mourning of her husband. Very conflicting thoughts, but honestly at the age of 84 ....... I was their Bridesmaid 60 years ago next week.
Grammaretto you were very much in my neck of the woods yesterday! Cold, wasn't it, certainly in Arbroath. I was through there yesterday afternoon so who knows, we may have seen each other 😉. Enjoy your Smokies.
Madeleine so glad you enjoyed your day out in your car yesterday. It must have been a much needed change of scenery.
I'm struggling to write this while carrying on a WhatsApp discussion with DS1 about the withdrawal of troops from Malta in 1972 (don't ask, but yes it did involve us!) so I am giving up. Have a lovely day everyone and keep out of that freezing wind. Best wishes to all the poorlies and poorly DHs x

I’m sure you know you only have until midnight tonight to pay for using the Tyne Tunnel madeleine45
However, if you have a Blue Badge and intend to use the Tunnel again, you can register your registration number and use the Tunnel free of charge.

Much, not muffins 😂

Good morning from a lovely sunny Cheshire. My DD and GS are here to keep me focused after the death of my DSis. Finding it difficult to eat, but know that I must.

Putting one foot in front of the other at the moment. My BiL has asked me to deliver a eulogy at her funeral and I have managed to laugh at some of the scrapes she got into as a child.

Hope Mr FGT feels better as the day progresses. Good news that Mr Gingster is progressing well. Hopefully Blossoming will be home soon. I always think you recuperate better at home.

Grammaretto Sun 06-Apr-25 09:26:33

Sending a get well message to Mr FGT. Great to hear that Mr Gingster is progressing well and hopefully that Blossoming will be released soon. 🤞

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; am about to sort out a bit more washing for my cruise. Very windy yesterday but the washing managed to stay in the line.

Very much enjoyed the film 'Mr Burton ' yesterday, definitely worth seeing.

No plans for today except to finish my library book which is due back tomorrow, only about 50 pages left out of nearly 500. Then I shall catch up with the weekend newspapers, and order some Euros for my holiday.

Have a pleasant Sunday, I think it is Passion Sunday today. Next week is Palm Sunday, then Easter the following week.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a sunny dry but definitely chilly morning in North Yorkshire.

I noticed the cycling was on in the radio times and thought you would be watching Mick. Yesterday went quite well, but took me ages to get the car sorted out and remember what I wanted with me. The back seat looked ridiculous as I had a variety of clothes from macs to jumpers and t shirts to cover all eventualities, but in actual fact was glad that I did take it with me. The promised warm weather did not arrive but it was dry, and so was glad of coat and gloves etc. It certainly gave the car a good run out as it was up past Morpeth. I enjoyed the drive and to see the signs of spring everywhere, although very creaky and wondered if I would manage walking round the garden. I take my good binoculars with me, They were bought mostly for birdwatching, but are also brilliant in gardens. I can look along paths to see if I can get round somewhere, and are brilliant to look at that one plant right at the back of the border, which you cant see the name of. So I was glad of warm clothes, and luckily there were seats in various places so could do a bit of walking and a stop etc. The daffodils were lovely of course, and in a sheltered corner there was a beautiful magnolia, which had managed to survive the frosts. Two lovely bushes near home were sadly spoiled by the frost the day before.

So I had taken my picnic with me and the new thermos had worked well. My one problem today is that I went through the tyne tunnel, had money ready to pay the toll but no ,you have to ring up or whatever. It didnt give clear information before you went through the tunnel, which is annoying. So later I must find out how to sort this out. The assumption that everyone knows how it works and even has a phone set to pay out or whatever is annoying. There are more car parks now that you can only use with a phone. I get annoyed by the assumption that everyone has to have a phone or know what things cost etc.

Anyway pleased with my day, came in very weary, and started to bring things in to sort out, as plan to go to another garden today. Decided to sit and have a coffee before doing anything more and promptly fell asleep only waking up at 1am!!! So left the mess and hobbled off to bed. So am now sat surrounded by quite a mess, which I need to sort out and then going to another lovely garden, which is much nearer and not far from where I used to live as a girl. So shall combine visiting the garden with a little drive round old haunts. It is very cheering to feel able to get out and about a bit, and I am determined to make the most of the nice weather. The car ran well and so hope that the run has been good for it, I think doing a lot of very short runs is not good for it

Good to hear your husband is doing well Ginster and hope you dont have to spend long at the bus stops today.
FGT hope your husband soon feels better

Hope the sun shines on you all and that you have a good day

harrigran Sun 06-Apr-25 08:30:16

Good morning from the NE where the wind remains chilly.
DS and GD spent the afternoon and evening with me. GD spent a lot of the time doing her art homework but did find time to play the piano.
Today is going to be a quiet one and won't need to spend long in the kitchen as there are lots of leftover vegetables from yesterday.
Hope all poorly people are progressing.
Have a good day.

GrannySomerset Sun 06-Apr-25 08:27:42

Short morning service in our church this morning but no other plans other than the paper and the garden. This sunny weather is delightful but the wind is still very sharp so sitting outside is not an option. Hope today brings improvement for all those unwell.

monk08 Sun 06-Apr-25 08:21:01

Ginster good to hear DH is brighter and enjoying the hospital food.
Sorry to hear himself is unwell FGT .

EkwaNimitee Sun 06-Apr-25 08:20:53

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Carlisle where all the car windscreens were frosted up at dawn.

Yesterday I went into town, treated myself to coffee and biscuits before going for my covid jab. Unfortunately, it was Moderna not Pfizer so I'm feeling a bit wambly this morning. The last Moderna laid me up for a couple of days and I hope that won't be the case this time.
I also disposed of some heavy tomes in the charity bookshop, probably why I have a painful shoulder this morning! Plus a strained thumb from planting out in the garden later in the day. So....a good excuse for a lazy day today catching up with reading, there's plenty to go at.

Another unfortunate with a tummy bug...I hope your DH has a rapid recovery FGT.

And wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.

Grandmabatty Sun 06-Apr-25 08:17:29

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and sunny. Gingster I'm glad to hear that your dh is brighter. FGT I hope your dh gets over his stomach upset soon. Kalu that sounds wonderful and tranquil.
Yesterday was busier than expected. I got the bed stripped and the wash hung out early. Then breakfast with a friend and her daughter. She had brought me a 'goody bag' of things just for me. They kindly let me rant a bit. In the early afternoon, DD messaged to say come round so I did. I was delighted to see the boys who were equally delighted to see me. I came home after a couple of hours and my neighbour called in. She stayed for a cuppa. She also offered me her villa in Lanzarote next year for a holiday. They are incredibly kind people.
Today I will have to go to Aldi for food as I have the boys Monday and Tuesday. I expect I'll see my aunt and uncle at some point as they flew back last night from Spain.
One of the pieces of paperwork arrived yesterday while I was at dds. To open the lair, we required the address of the owner of the lair. That was my grandmother who died in 1939! It's a long complicated story but dad was brought up by a neighbour and not anyone in his birthday family. Hopefully the address on my grandmother's death certificate matches the one the cemetery has. We've exhausted all other possibilities. I say 'we' but it has been dd and me doing the work. My brother has been asked to get one certificate which is easily obtainable. I'm still not convinced he's made any attempt to do so. I'll find out tomorrow. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Sun 06-Apr-25 08:11:51

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is only 2°C.

Pleased to hear better news of Gingster's DH.
Blossoming, I hope you get your release papers soon
FGT, I had that awful bug at Christmas, poor Mr F GT.

Nothing is planned for today, apart from sending out some parish correspondence.
I am very weary and need to regroup!

Have a good day, everyone..

hollysteers Sun 06-Apr-25 08:11:47

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Another beautiful day and part of yesterday was spent in the sun in the garden with the washing drying, where I have a ‘hot spot’ and read a book on the Tudor court. DSon got on with a few jobs then left on his motorbike 😨 for his girlfriend’s house. Wish he would buy a car…

Long FaceTime with flying daughter and today I will brush the front paving and it will be jet washed. The cover has come off the egg chair too.
I did an online shop yesterday, a rarity, but I have been tired recently with so many outings.

Thoughts to Gingster and her DH, plus Blossoming and FGT🌺
Quick sketch I did yesterday.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Apr-25 08:04:07

Morning everyone from a bright S E Essex.

Our dishwasher broke yesterday, called a neighbour over who works for a white goods repair company, he took it apart and declared it would be cheaper to buy a new one, so we did £ouch!

A quiet day here at Gravy Grange, apart from cooking a roast later (7ish) I shall have a lazy day.

Thinking of you and your family Gingster 🌸

I hope himself recovers quickly FGT2 🌸

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday 🙋‍♀️

NannyJan53 Sun 06-Apr-25 08:00:33

Good morning from a sunny Black Country, with not a cloud in the sky!

Managed to dry 3 loads of washing yesterday, and weed the garden. The wind seems to have dropped so will be a warm one today I think.

May ring my friend to see if she fancies a walk to the Park or along the canal, as MrJ will be out on a cycle ride.

Hope your DH is feeling better soon FGT and pleased your DH is improving Gingster

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Liberty Sun 06-Apr-25 08:00:28

Good morning from a bright sunny Suffolk where I expect we have the chill wind mentioned by others. We’ll know when we take the little dog out for her walk.

We’ll have a quiet day at home today as the seaside will be very busy now the school holidays are here. We shall probably join the crowds later in the week when DD1 and family and dog arrive from Bristol.

Good to hear Gingster that your DH is brighter and eating well. No doubt the visits from your family are contributing to this and I’m sure they will be taking care of you as well.

Hope today is the best it can be for all.

Stilllearning Sun 06-Apr-25 07:56:11

Morning from South Lanarkshire, blue sky but bitterly cold here, a heavy frost on the cars but I expect it will lift soon.

A good yesterday chatting with friends and a quiet one today ahead. I need to do some meal planning, I’ve run down supplies in the freezer so that’s a task that needs to be done. DD2 will probably call later to hang a couple of pictures for me before they fly off next week to Gran Canaria.
I also have loads of boring admin looking reproachfully at me so after I get back from mass I will tackle some of that.

Wishing a good day to everyone, thoughts as always to those needing extra support just now.

kittylester Sun 06-Apr-25 07:54:36

Good morning all. North Leicestershire is brightening already. DH is doing lunch on his new barbecue so nothing for me to do apart from salads, drinks, the table etc etc.

A friend's daughter is also doing the Brighton marathon today. Hope she is OK as she hurt her ankle last week.

Yestrrday we took Easter chocolate over to DD1's, in Derby to sustain DGS3 and DGD1 as they have exams starting soon after Easter and are knuckling down to their studies - or so they say.

DGS is applying for degree apprenticeships. He has been offered 4 and is having a difficult time deciding which to take.

Have the best day possible, everyone.
