I was married on 7th April in 1969. What a contrast in the weather then and now, spring was so late that not a daffodil was out. Today after a chilly start it’s been like summer.

May I suggest that you don't actually need to see a doctor about poor appetite at the moment. You are grieving and this is normal. Eat what you feel like, when you feel like eating. Complan is useful for times like this. At least you are well nourished if you can manage that a few times a day. Your appetite will return, but obviously,if it doesn't, then yes, you should speak to a doctor.

Madeleine your day out sounded so lovely. So pleased you can drive again and visiting the places you love.

Two of our local hospitals have wards closed with norovirus and covid. Lots locally also suffering with a nasty flu.

I’m sorry to hear of others struggling today and thinking if you all sending healing vibes. Life does throw out its challenges and this thread is a comfort to me and many others I am sure 🥰

Good morning from sunny East Lothian. We only have three more days here, then heading south again. As usual I have not done everything I aimed to do in DD’s garden, but I have emptied one of the three compost bins and will continue weeding today. There is compost to mulch the beds with and DD is planning to buy some bags of bark. I hope that will mean that she can get by with the short periods of gardening that she can manage (in between loading the washing machine and preparing meals for two very active, nearly 17 year old boys!).

DH and I enjoyed a stroll in the sunshine yesterday with a university friend who has returned to Scotland after spending her working life abroad. It is a big adjustment for her but she seems to be settling in happily.

Gingster, it’s good that your DH is home. I wish you both strength to manage the challenge of recovery. I hope you can get some support too. As people always say to carers, you must look after yourself.

Bright sunshine, bitter wind so will leave the garden to the gardener when he comes later. Nothing essential on the cards today so will let the day unfold though a sort out of shoes might be a good idea - nowadays nothing feels really comfortable so have decided that I have developed old lady’s feet, not a good thought.

Norovirus is nasty*fgt*. I’ve had it twice and hope to avoid a third! No harm seeking advice. Try not to worry though. X

Good morning from a sunny but frosty Angus coast. I've had a very restful weekend with good night's sleeps, so last night I didn't drop off until after 3am. I don't feel sleepy though so I'll be able to catch up with everything if I put my mind to it. If. 😉

I've no news at all from here - life just goes quietly on. There's no news from DGS1 with his Leukaemia, so that must be good, and DGD3 is back home again after her visit to her mum and now has to both chase up the repairs to her car (necessitated by an untimely meeting with a deer) and become accustomed to having to catch buses again for a while.
So glad you have your DH home with you again gingster.

I'm glad your biting beasties have had their fill grannyivy and gingster. I haven't had any of those, but I did discover two enormous, but thankfully very sleepy, wasps, one on my bedroom window sill and the other at the foot of the stairs. I have no idea from whence they came but have to assume there must be bykes under the eaves again. Oh the joys of a country life

Himself has just Googled (not something he usually does to be honest) and thinks this is Norovirus. Highly contagious (that fits). Day 4 for him with watery diarrhoea (apologies for any of you reading whilst trying to enjoy breakfast). I thought it was coming too but apparently not always. I suggested we ring the doctor for him but he’s showered put on clean pj’s and said wait for tomorrow. I said let’s reassess at 2pm. Compromise reached as funnily enough he looks well now reading the newspaper on line. 🤷‍♀️

Marydoll sad to hear that you're feeling so unwell today. Take it easy with a little bit of pampering perhaps. A nice soak in the bath and whatever you feel you can eat. Rest and get well.

Oh dear FGT, sorry to read you had a painful night. Hope you're feeling better this morning. A quiet day would seem to be best for both of you today to recoup your strength.

On the subject of GP appointments, my DD called my surgery as I've been finding it difficult to eat after my sister's death last week and she was worried about me. She was told I would have to see a Dr about that and the first appointment is May 1st. I'll try harder to sort it myself.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s gloriously sunny again. Last night I had the most awful stomach pains from 8pm till 1am when I could finally get comfortable enough to sleep. Regular doses of paracetamol took the edge off. I lay there worrying what it might be (health anxiety) and wishing in the wee small hours for the days when you’d ring your own doctor and an on call would do a home visit. Those days are truly behind us and it’s so sad really. 111 now and a taxi to the nearest A&E I suppose, maybe 15 miles away. Rant over. A very quiet day for us as Himself’s bug flared again this morning. If he’s not better tomorrow I’m ringing the doctor.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a sunny , dry, bright but cold morning in North Yorkshire. You can still see frost on the grass in shady areas but it is gradually going.

As it goes ~"Take what you want -- and pay for it!" Well that is true for me today. I am really struggling to move about and full of aches and pains, and thought I saw a tortoise rushing past me!! Still it is worth it for the lovely day I had yesterday and so today will be simply trying to get a bit of order from the chaos and generally plodding through some jobs here as and when I am able.

Yesterday was a lovely bright day and there was a garden open near where I lived in the East Riding. So it took me quite a while to get everything together but made a picnic up and filled my new thermos - which says it stays hot for 24 hours , and then it looked rather stupid the amount of clothes I shoved on the back seat, but started off with warm trousers cashmere jumper etc as it was decidedly chilly. Drove down through York and on and in just those few miles there was more green on the hedges and some blossom out. Very cheering to see. Enjoyed all the countryside and got to the garden about 1pm. It was an NGS garden that I have visited before, so I enjoy looking at the changes and they also had hardy plant stalls there. I was pleased to see many people on the stalls who I knew, and was very strong willed in NOT buying any. First time ever I think. But have no greenhouse or cold frame here and need various things sorting in the small garden I have before I can begin to plant. One rather salutary thing was they have a lake there, and the last time I visited was able to walk round. Couldnt manage it this time. Still I take my binoculars to look at the back of borders etc and was able to look at things through them but a bit depressing to compare how much I can manage now.

Anyway the weather improved greatly and so I drove off down a little road to a quiet layby and did a quick change to t shirt and summer trousers. Then drove to visit my grandmothers grave and sit up on the hill and have a coffee. Was delighted to find the grave covered with the muscari, that I had previously planted and it was a little sea of blue and green. Over time I have tried various plants there and this has been the best. From there I drove to where I used to live and had a general look round and then let the traffic die down a bit and drove home. So it was a day of pleasure and memories and a day to hold onto when it is wet and miserable .

GrandmaBatty What a horrible start to your day. Hope things have improved by now. Have you got an old cracked plate or cup you could crash with great vigour on the floor to get rid of some frustration?

Good morning from a bright and sunny N. Bucks.
I’m loving this weather and have spent most of the last three days gardening. I’m no expert but do like it to look tidy.
Everything is starting to to look nice and green and now just have to wait for the colours to arrive. Yesterday we helped DD2 with her garden, she has just moved house.
No special plans for today. DH is playing golf. I shall potter. Maybe make a fruit cake and perhaps take myself out somewhere pretty with a picnic lunch .
Hope those who are ill or have troubles find some ease. A good day wished for all.

A brief good morning from me, I have been up half the night coughing and trying to clear my congested chest. My head is pounding and I have just woken up, so unlike me to sleep this late.

It is 2 degrees and very sunny.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where this morning’s light frost is just beginning to melt in the sun. I had a sleepless night and thus am late on parade today. My plan was to get to the gym early but that has gone out of the window and by the time I get there it will no doubt be busy. What happens in between that and a GP appointment late afternoon is a blank page at the moment.

Good morning from Sunnyside northwest coast. Enjoyed the sun yesterday and spent time in the sand dunes at the bottom of the road. Had to remove layers it got so hot. There has been a lot of clearing in the dunes, which are very overgrown and parts don’t look very pretty, but I’m sure the conservationists know what they are doing. With some classical music playing, it is like a walk in the paradise gardens and no one about.

The front and back paving were jet washed, a long FaceTime with my sister in the south and that was the sum of the day. We would still be talking now if she hadn’t extricated herself…
The only annoyance was trying to photocopy a painting for Easter cards. My printer/photocopier is driving me nuts.

Good morning all from the Black country overnight frost but the sun is now shining bright in a clear blue sky.
DH has his covid jab lunchtime and we have a carvery booked for later.
I heard yesterday my youngest brother had run the Berlin half marathon he did it in 1hr 40mins not bad for a 59yr old at that age I would still be running now.
Schools break up Friday here but don't think we will be needed for any child care.
Susan hope you feel better as the day wears on.

Pleased to hear your DH is home Gingster. Would it be possible for him to sleep downstairs for a while - that’s what we did for DD2, until she was able to shuffle upstairs on her bum.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle where the car windscreens are lightly frosted up once more. It is 0°C.

It was a gentle day for me yesterday, recovering from the mildish effects of my covid jab, not the barely sore arm but the buzzy head and wobbly balance. It's passing so I will plough on with the usual laundry and cleaning this morning and hope for a walk or some gardening this afternoon.
I started a new book on my Kindle yesterday, one of my freebies from Amazon. I don't think I'll be getting emotionally involved with what, so far, is barely a page turner.

Good Morning from Durham, similar weather here - looks lovely, but barely above freezing.
Usual coffee with a friend this morning and as I still have DD2’s Little Dog here, I’ll have the afternoon at home and a decent walk with him later. Work is supposed to start on the roof this week, but has been postponed 2x now. A neighbour having the same work is running out of patience and may cancel. It’s holding up other work I have to organise too.

Good morning all - sunny and chilly here in Essex.

Dh was discharged yesterday after tests on steps and making a cup of tea 😳.
He’s delighted to be home but life will be difficult. He has walking frames, toilet frames, meds and physio and occupational therapy at home.
I struggled to get him upstairs as he was tired and couldn’t really lift his legs.

He’s still asleep and has had a good night so we’ll await the day.

No more bites here either Grannyivy.
