Well, looking up the official statistics, I see that South Africa comes out worst for violent crimes as a whole, followed by Central American countries and the top of South America.

Jamaica is the worst fort for homicide.

Costa Rica came out badly which really surprised me because I felt so safe there and wandered all over the place without a care.

The UK does badly for violent sexual crimes but is relatively safe otherwise.

A man we came across last week ( a lecturer) who had lived in Africa,India and South America told us he regarded the UK as by far the most dangerous country of the lot for random attacks and violence. That really shook me, things must have really deteriorated if this is the case. Perhaps Harry has a point.

I agree. He went with other veterans from the Invictus Games Foubdation to visit a charity there whih helps wounded service personnel.

There was no fanfare or publicity until after they had left.

Yes, he does support injured servicemen and women but did he think about the irony in complaining that the UK is too dangerous for him to visit, yet then flies off to an ongoing warzone.

He visited a clinic, he was not on the frontline.

I do not know if he had armed protection in Ukraine, I googled and could not find out.

The bottom line is that he felt safe doing something he is passionate about.

Him feeling "safe" seems to make no objective sense - other than Harry wanting UK taxpayers to fund him - he wants the perks without the work.

In the last year Harry has had no problems travelling to countries considered dangerous by most
- Ukraine
- Nigeria
- Columbia
- Jamaica

But he claims that he cannot come to the UK because his life is in "danger"
- yet he turned down bespoke security arrangements - but happily accepted royal security when he came to see the King last year after the cancer diagnosis (and handy for him to meet with his lawyers for one of his multiple court cases as a settlement was announced the same week)
- Harry turned down offers of secure accommodation in Royal residences - Buckingham Palace, St James and gave up Frogmore rather than pay rent.

So on Wednesday his lawyer was arguing at the Court of Appeal that the UK was too dangerous for him to visit and his life was in danger (despite Harry sitting in court while his lawyers argued it was too dangerous for him to be there)

....and the next day he jets off to a war zone ?????

Apparently Harry made a trip to Ukraine today to visit war victims as part of his ongoing work.

I would like to say, ‘Good for him’ but his court case in the UK is costing the taxpayer upwards of £500,000 because he doesn’t regard us to be a safe country.

The Raven decision was that when he visited the UK his security would be assessed in the same way that any other prominent visitor would have their security assessed and provided as necessary.

That would take into account any risk from heritage and service, so I can’t really understand what more he thinks he should have?

But apparently it wasn't.

That is the crux of the case.

Thanks FGT. Palliative care can extend life well, as mr FGT is finding, thankfully. Mr I was told palliative care only. It means they can’t cure it. Sadly some of the treatment than did shrink tumours caused lethal side effects. We remain thankful for the efforts made at the Christie and the care Mr I received

There are no winners here. A family schism hurts all concerned in different ways and to different depths I imagine. Harry is doing his best as is his father and older brother. They will muddle through life, perhaps overlapping, perhaps not.

It’s just really sad to witness as owing to their status and degree of public interest, it gets played out on the world stage.

Most families are able to keep their business under wraps and just share what they choose to.

Harry made his choice. He must lie in the bed he chose as far as I’m concerned. With choices come consequences and his perceived lack of security was one such. That said he’s wealthy! Very. He could visit and pay for his own security no problem but I think he’s dug in now and sees this as a matter of principle for a royal born Prince.

He seems a mixed up lad. He didn’t want to ‘be royal’ anymore and to some extent I can sympathise. But he can’t cherry pick. It’s like you can’t be a little bit pregnant. You’re in The Firm, or not.

I was hoping there might have been some reconnection by now, especially with his Papa’s cancer condition but apparently that’s not shifted the dial any so his feelings must be pretty concrete by now.

He has a beautiful wife, gorgeous children, a stunning home. I wish he could be happier with all the blessings he has in his life and I just hoped (the reason for the thread) he could maybe be magnanimous towards his family by now. Say ‘sorry’ perhaps? It would go a long way and someone has to make the first move.

Sadly he’s not there yet.
I hope in time, given his Papa’s palliative chemotherapy treatment, he doesn’t leave it too late.
Thereby would lie regrets that could not be put right and I think his mental health is fragile enough.
Missing the boat would make him a very bitter man I think.
