Good morning everyone.

DGD3 was terrific company on Tuesday. She is having a week long course of swimming lessons which she is hugely enjoying so we took her along for that. We then watched the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in the afternoon. A long film at 2 hours 20 minutes but her attention never wavered.

Yesterday we had her brother. He is very different. We went to Tesco for some items and he behaved impeccably scanning all the items. He didn’t want to go out so we put the little net up in the garden and he practised scoring goals. He helped pot up some summer bulbs too.

Hairdressers today and then start packing for our cruise.

I’m glad the twins enjoyed their birthday party Bella. Best wishes for your cataract procedure today Grandmabatty. Hoping for a good improvement for your DH Gingster.

Make the most of the sun today if you can.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and brilliant sunshine. The forecast is good. However my forecast is far from sunny. My op was cancelled at the last minute! A doctor phoned at half five last night. Apparently I'm a priority. 🙄
Apart from that news, yesterday I got so much done. I contacted mum's bank and private pension provider then remembered the Office of Public Guardian and let them know. Of course, they all want documentation. I nipped to Tesco and bought Easter eggs and wee outfits for the boys. In the afternoon, I sorted the house to make life after a cataract easier. I even set the table for Easter Sunday lunch! Then the phonecall... The celebrant arrived promptly as did the family minus my brother who chose not to be involved. We spent two hours chatting about mum and dad. Dd got very upset as she was close to both of them. I struggled to sleep and was up with a cuppa at midnight.
Thank you all for your kind wishes for the op that now won't happen. I'll bank them until it does 😊. So today is an unexpectedly free day- no shopping needed, no housework or washing- and I will spend it in the garden I think. Chilli for dinner later. Have a good day all.

How unsettling gbatty as if you haven’t got enough going on, enjoy your oasis of calm today

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 2°C but will be 18°C again later. I’m loving this glorious weather to sit out in. I’m meeting our youngest daughter for coffee this afternoon. It will be nice to chat together on our own before she has to pick up L’il Miss.

This morning I’m getting the bus with a bag of groceries to call in on my stepfather. See how he is. Although we talk every day I thought he might be getting low on supplies and it’ll be good to sit and chat.

A quick good morning from a cloudy Suffolk where the 3 teens haven’t yet emerged( and probably won’t do for another hour at least.

DSinL has taken mugs of tea back to bed for DD1 and himself and DH is also still in bed,so just me and the 2 dogs downstairs. I’m enjoying the peace whilst it lasts.

Excellent Italian meal in a local pub last night and a visit to the beach on the cards for today, whenever it starts for all. A meet up with DS and his tribe tonight is on the cards and a meal together. He started a new job on Monday so didn’t want to take time off so we are travelling down to his neck of the woods.

Happy family times which happen rarely because of distances very much valued. Hope all have their best day possible.

Oh heck grandmab. Yesterday was quite a day for you. Hope today is less difficult. x

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Yesterday's theatre trip was most enjoyable, Paul Whitehouse took the part of grandad and uncle Albert.
Today I have a hygienist appointment but no other plans as yet.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's a glorious start to the day here on the Angus coast - instead of the grey cloudy early mornings we were becoming used to - and according to the display on my phone it is expected to be 8° warmer than yesterday!
Tai chi for me this morning, and then nothing else planned which is good -I've been so tired lately with poor nights' sleep that a day just basking in the sunshine and reading seems very inviting.
I haven't read the thread yet, so can't comment. I had a lovely lunch out with an old friend yesterday, the only one from days gone by left. Mind you, even she is planning a move up north this year - her son has moved to Aberdeen. Is the universe trying to tell me something, I ask myself
Anyway, must trot now to get ready for tai chi.
Thinking of all in sadness and poor health and wishing you brighter days x

Good Morning all from a bright chilly Co Armagh, it’s 2deg here
Yesterday got so hot that I retreated indoors and closed the curtains , left the doors open , but nary a breeze
Sister called , she is full,of ailments and fainted last week when she was out , I doubt she should be driving , poor woman
Mass this am , schoolchildren will be there , they are so fresh faced and well behaved
Hoping for a calm pleasant day for all xx

What a pest! Grandmabatty . You get yourself psyched up for nowt. And you still haven't had the cataract sorted! I hope you don't have too long to wait.
I actually cancelled my cataract operation. The receptionist sounded shocked! It was just too soon after my hip replacement, too early in the morning and a long way away.

I've not been given another yet. 😥

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
I cancelled my covid vaccination for today as my shingles attack has made me feel under the weather. Nevertheless I went along to the usual lunchtime recital yesterday and it was a consort of renaissance music, all appropriate for Lent. Very meditative, but the thought struck me that it would have been used for church services and on its own somehow unsatisfying.
Only five unaccompanied singers and one kept smiling and turning to her colleagues when she cracked her high notes, rather unprofessional.

Contact lens check up today, rather a bore and my life seems to consist more and more of health appointments. One of the joys of getting older, but better than the alternative.
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning everyone from a very overcast and cloudy Northampton, but sun is forecast by lunchtime.
A good thing as I have just stripped the bed, and the bedding is in the machine.
Once I have clean sheets etc on I plan to hoover the bedrooms and.stairs.

Was pleased with my visit to the hairdressers yesterday; I am growing it into a new style and it is at that awkward stage where it's neither one thing or the other. However a miracle was worked and I came away happy.

I cut the back grass when I got back, another task crossed off my pre-holiday to-do list. I need to visit a neighbour with my keys shortly - they have kindly agreed to keep an eye on things for me.

A visit to Sainsbury's this afternoon to pick up my Turkish lira, and to stock up with beer and wine; the family have decided to visit for a fish and chip supper tomorrow.

Hoping the day goes well for all.

Scaffolders have arrived, having not turned up yesterday, so life is noisy at present. Doubt the roofers will start before next week but realise that the scaffolding is something I will just have to put up with until it gets taken away. At least the fine weather is continuing though will probably be raining when work actually starts. If I sound grumpy, I am!

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a sunny bright but very cold morning here in North Yorkshire. It has taken me an age to creak up but now washer going full pelt and I am clean with washed hair and dressed. Still had to put swimming goggles on to make sure I didnt get water in my eye!!

Very busy in the town yesterday with children off on holiday and the market on etc. But it stayed cold and miserable all day and you needed warm clothes, coat and gloves etc., and it never improved all day. Was sorry for some of the stallholders who had brought pretty summer blouses and dresses etc, but with the change in weather everyone was well wrapped up and not lingering for anything other than the usual basics. I got basics and went to Tesco and saw a small pork joint with crackling. Havent had that for a long time and decided to get it and it would give me hot and cold meat for this weekend etc.
Then last night due to some changes I had decided last minute to go across to Lancashire to see a garden and may get a chance to meet up with son etc. So realized I needed to stay over rather than try to cram a great deal in one day.
After looking around on line came up with what looked a good place with an air bandb. Never tried these before , but it was in the right area, so slowly went through it all and seemed to be doing ok, but hit the buffers as dont have a photo of myself to add to it. Have always been wary of giving photos on the internet.
So there I was at nearly midnight trying to transfer the picture and couldnt do it. could have thrown the laptop through the window and the phone with it!! That is why this morning I am going to a friend who is more up to date than me, to sort it out. Well this will teach me to keep up to date with these things. So fingers crossed the place is still free today, and if it is it will be a useful one to have in my collection of places to stay.

So now am going to have to ask a neighbour if she can put pork in her freezer as my scranny little one is full and dont want to just leave it in the fridge. Have had to go through things and change plans, hence washer going as of course the clothes I want to take were in the linen basket etc. Ah well at least as I live on my own, if necessary I can leave a mess to come back to. Actually this will be the first time I have had a night away for a long time, so hope I shall sort it all out. At least the car has just had a service so should be fine.

Bellasnana Hope you will make the most of your little holiday and get up later and sit watching lots of tennis and eating just what y ou enjoy, and then be ready and refreshed when the family return.
Karmalady, Its a shame that your trip to Wells was so disappointing. Think we remember all the good bits and are rather sadly surprised by the changes. But it has made you appreciate your own lovely place more hasnt it .
I am trying to see it as a good shake up. My way was always to be prepared to change plans and go with the flow. Many years ago, it was planned to go to Sweden, then that was cancelled and I spent money on a rather lovely evening dress that I could also sing in. Then 2 hours later the trip was back on, and I got things together and got myself sorted and at the airport in 4 hours flat! Now simply going away for one night takes me ages, and am so slow. Oh well I am going , but with this weather it will be the back seat piled up with every kind of mac, coat, sunglasses etc etc and no doubt will still not have the right things!
Grandmabatty thinking of you and hoping all goes well with your operation today

Good morning all. Dry and sunny start again today in Glasgow.
Unfortunately a chilly wind to spoil such a lovely day.

I had a rubbish sleep last night and had two morning starts in one day today. My body is complaining loudly at doing too much gardening so that enjoyment won’t be happening, too chilly to sit out so I am left with mainly reading my book in the garden room. Poor me indeed! Aye, right.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Ziplok Thu 10-Apr-25 11:36:13

Good morning,
A lovely sunny day and it’s gradually warming up. A huge improvement on yesterday, which was grey and chilly.

I might venture into the garden after lunch and do a spot of general weeding and tidying. The bird baths need topping up too, as the birds have been enjoying splashing in them and flicking the water everywhere, so there’s hardly any left 😁.

I hope those of you who slept badly last night have a better sleep tonight.

Taichinan Thu 10-Apr-25 12:26:42

Grandmabatty so sorry your op was postponed.
