Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley plus a chill in the air .
Today , usual routine bus trip to Bicester , have a good reason as I need a new Sim Card for my mobile , did not realise that my current one had time expired ,so it will be a new number etc , otherwise usual shop and chat to those I know.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 5°C and sunshine predicted.

I woke up at 4am with a blinding headache and painful arm, after my vaccination yesterday. I am not complaining, the discomfort is worth it.
The problem was not being able to find the venue, despite using the sat nav. As we say in Glasgow, we were going roon aboot the hooses, with no success and an impatient toddler protesting loudly.
All we could see was what looked like a church, with Jesus Saves! banners, fluttering in the breeze..
It turned out to be a former church, converted to a community hall.
It also housed a food bank and a hairdresser's!! It was stressed to me that the appointment was for over seventy fives and the immunocomprimised only. The person in charge was extremely efficient and thorough, going through my medical notes, checking that I was happy to go ahead. She gave up, when I started listing all the medication, I was allergic to! I would have been there all day! Surprisingly, it was exactly twenty six weeks since my previous vaccination.
The hub was surprisingly empty, with lots of staff on duty, the uptake must have been low..

We then set of to the coast, where we had a very unhealthy lunch. It was delicious!
It was sunny but cool and BabyD indulged in her favourite pastime of collecting stones and stopping to say His to everyone we passed. DH was getting rather impatient!!! 🤣
She is a cheap date!
A walk around the charity shop and visit to our favourite bakery, with orders from family to action, made for a pleasant day.

We are trying to teach her to share (she is very territorial) and I asked her to share her ice cream with Papa. She did indeed share, but from my tub, while hers remained intact. When her tiny tub was empty, she decided that I should share with her
and proceeded to dig into mine!

As usual, she did not want to go home and just as we were battling to get her into the car seat, bribing her with treats (shame on us) , we realised that she needed changed. In fact she had to be stripped naked. I do not know what the nursery are feeding her on a Wednesday, but someone needs to have a word with the chef!!
She was in a defiant mood and totally unco-operative. We were parked facing the sea, with all the doors open, to fumigate the car and this excited, stark naked toddler, was jumping up and down, shouting, the sea, the sea!, much to the amusement of passers buy.
After DH jammed my already painful hand in the car seat, I decided we are totally incompetent and useless, as grandparents. 😉
While we were there, the nursery phoned to say that the were taking the children on the train to the coast. They are very brave!

Fortunately, we had planned our route home, to avoid a double journey. I brought keys to DS's house, so we could let ourselves in. To our relief, DIL was already home and shortly afterwards, her mum visited, so we had a good catch up.
The journey time would have been halved, if DH hadn't blatantly refused to listen to me or the Sat Nav. I knew lots of short cuts down country roads, but he was having none of it.😡

Today, I need to go to Silverburn, I am dreading it, it is the school holidays and I don't like children. 🤣
I also need to make Mars Bar cake for the party tomorrow, so yet another busy day ahead.

Sallyforth, enjoy your break, you need it. Good luck to all with building work going on and a virtual hug for all, who need it.
Have a good day folks.

Blethered not bothered. Dear me

Kalu Fri 11-Apr-25 07:58:46

Good morning all. Mostly cloudy until,4.00pm with temperatures rising to 18deg. In Glasgow

Car problems this morning. My car wouldn’t unlock early evening and my efforts resulted in the alarm going off. Thankfully it eventually stopped but I dread trying to open it today. DD1’s partner who knows all there is to know about cars will be here later to hopefully solve the problem. 🤞 Failing that I will call my breakdown service.

My thoughts are with you both FGT.
Sounds like a great catch up baubles and stilllearning I quite understand how time flies when enjoying a good blether.
I hope it’s not too long until you feel fully recovered Blossoming

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle where it is about 3°C.
It will be the same as yesterday I guess...will warm up to around 15/16°C but be too chilly to sit out because of the easterly breeze.
I'm off into town shortly on various necessary errands and then it will be back to boring admin. That includes getting some travel insurance. I'm puzzled at the wide range of quotes between different companies for the same trip and medical conditions. Some, I suspect, don't want the business.
Later, I may pop one or two more plants in if I feel up to it, otherwise, just a bit of watering in of seedlings, my peas are popping up now....best peas are straight out of the garden into the pot!

Do have a good day everyone.

Gingster Fri 11-Apr-25 08:06:13

Good morning all ☀️.

Thoughts with you Fgt 💐.

Dh and I seem to be getting into our new routine and yesterday went well. His oldest pal came to visit and they had a nice ‘chat’ for an hour. That’s long enough as Dh gets very tired. I sat in either them to keep to conversation going.

The chiropodist was due between 3.15 - 4.15, so at 2.45 I took the dog around the block for a quick walk, threatening Dh not to move from his chair. I arrived back to find chiropodist half way through his treatment. 😳. Dh had got to the door with his frame and also answered his mobile with notice of his alarm being delivered.
Considering he has a lot trouble with speech and walking he did very well.
I was mortified that I had left him alone. 😱.

A quiet day today.Dd and gd will come and sit with her dad/gaga and Ill potter and get some jobs done.

Enjoy the day as much as you can 🌱

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞🌞Northampton, wall to wall blue skies. Yesterday was similar, and I got all the.bedding dry on the line.

Was busy in the morning vacuuming and tidying upstairs and then did the staircase, which I hate doing. Will have a quick whip round downstairs this morning.
The cattery owner contacted me in the morning asking would the cats go in a day early (at no extra charge), so they were picked up yesterday evening. I felt so guilty as I had to use subterfuge to get them into their carriers - still, needs must. The house seems very quiet this morning.

Picked up my Turkish lira yesterday, then got a few supplies in for this evening when the family will descend.

Am dropping my keys round to my neighbour this morning; she has also invited me for coffee, so we shall have a good gossip before my holiday.
I may pay a flying visit to Sainsbury's to change a top I bought yesterday. Then will probably start packing.

Wishing FGT2 and her DH all the best for scan day, remember them well and then waiting weeks to see the consultant for results. May the sun shine on them today.

Morning all from a sunny S E Essex, it’s meant to reach 23°

I have the 10yr old and The Imp, so it will be a visit to one of the local parks for a couple of hours, they are definitely outside boys

DH and I will go down to one of the Turkish restaurants for dinner tonight, (we have so many within a couple of miles)

FGT2 I shall be thinking of you and your DH later 😘

Granmarie 🌸🌸🌸

Marydoll I so look forward to your morning novellas 😹

Enjoy your day whatever it brings 🙋‍♀️

GrannyGravy13 Fri 11-Apr-25 08:15:21

Gingster it sounds as if you are doing a Stirling job of nursing your DH 🌸

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 11-Apr-25 08:23:15

I’m so pleased to hear of the good steady progress your husband is making Gingster.

harrigran Fri 11-Apr-25 08:26:29

Good morning from a slowly brightening NE.
Yesterday was a mild day but I was only outside briefly.
SIL came and took me shopping, he has a bad back after his long train journey the day before.
We got one or two things sorted and he is going to try and get a bulb for my fridge which has been without light for a week.
Today my friend and I are going out for lunch, at last her DH is well enough to cope for an hour or two without her.
Thoughts are with FGT and her DH today.
Have a good day everyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 11-Apr-25 08:36:06

Morning from a sunny S Hants, perhaps the last one for a while, so bedding to wash and towels.
Yesterday was stretch class and walked home in the sun, but still a chill in the air, I’ll need to water again tonight, the ground is so dry.
Tesco delivery this afternoon and pub tonight.
Enjoy your break Sallyforth much needed.
Well done your husband Gingster he’s very determined.
Thinking of you both later today FGT x

Roofer is here making a start on our leak. Too much to hope he will be finished before the rain arrives, I fear, but have my fingers crossed. It took three men three hours to erect the scaffolding so I suppose it’s unlikely that one man can complete the job in one day.

Quite a lot of good news of the thread this morning; Marydoll has brightened the day and we all have fingers crossed for the FGTs. We will have to make the most of the sunshine as it looks as if our spring will revert to winter next week.

hollysteers Fri 11-Apr-25 08:39:25

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Started yesterday with a walk through the sand dunes on a new route. It’s a very big area and I’m trying to get more exercise.

In the afternoon to optician for my contact lens check up. My optician is very attractive, a silver fox. A pity he only sees me without my usual eyeliner and mascara 😁

Art this morning and a Gilbert and Sullivan performance tonight.
Thoughts to FGT and all with worries 🌺

mamaa Fri 11-Apr-25 09:24:26

Lots to read today, nothing much from me to add apart from the GC will be descending later today ( aged 9 and 6) until Wednesday- then it’s the other Grandparents turn🤣 we’ll be lying down somewhere in a darkened room😉
Hope the lovely day is enjoyed as best as can be, and thoughts to FGT and Himself re this afternoon’s appt, and all with worries or other issues.
Good to read that Mr Gingster is doing so well. x

Blossoming Fri 11-Apr-25 09:30:52

FGT. Good luck with the scan, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the best outcome x

Gingster I hope your husband continues to improve and makes a good recovery x

Apologies if I missed anyone’s news but my concentration and energy are both running low 🌹

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 11-Apr-25 09:41:24

Thank you to everyone who holds us in their thoughts today. Scan time is always an anxious time, then the two week wait for results in the clinic. I always have a little chat looking at my mum’s photograph before we go. Daft I know, it’s just that she loved him too and it gives me courage.

Taichinan Fri 11-Apr-25 09:42:39

Good morning all, and it's back to the cold wind on the Angus coast after a scorching (by comparison) day yesterday. We have tai chi on the beach tomorrow morning and then after that the weather is supposed to be breaking. Oh well, all good things have to come to an end!
I'm off to Perth this afternoon for an early dinner with DD & Co. I don't drive in the dark so it is just so lovely to be able to do this again - I didn't put the lamps on until 9pm yesterday and I'll be back home again well before that.
My thoughts are with FGT today, and it's good to hear how well gingster's DH and Blossoming are doing with their recoveries.
Enjoy your much-needed break in Spain this weekend Sallyforth and the few days of respite from early mornings Bella.
Enjoy your day out today Madeleine.
DGD3 has got her car back from the repair shop after the contretemps she had with a deer last week. What a mess it made! I take great comfort from the fact she was obviously driving sensibly at the time, otherwise she'd not have kept to the road as she did. I had a similar experience a few years ago, so I can sympathise with her about how unpredictable deer can be - and with the damage they do. My trusty old Volvo sported a dent in its roof ever after. DGD was driving something flimsier.
Anyway, all's well that ends well and I'm off to give my kitchen its Friday clean.
Enjoy your day in the sun again everyone x

Stilllearning Fri 11-Apr-25 10:31:24

As usual late to the party. Really lovely day yesterday with baubles, I do enjoy her company.

It’s good to hear that your DH is making determined progress Gingster long may it continue.

Thoughts with you both this afternoon FGTs.

Good also that you were able to be on the platform to welcome your DH Ash, he must have been delighted.

DD4 picking me up at lunchtime to spend the weekend with her which will be really nice. I’m also catching up with a couple of other friends who live in her small town so hopefully a pleasant couple of days ahead.

I didn’t realise your op had been cancelled Grandmabatty, that’s rotten when you were ‘geared’ up for it. I hope it’s not going to be long before it goes ahead.

Wishing everyone a good weekend x
