A boring day thread

I spent an awful lot of last week watching paint dry in my little summerhouse…does that count as boring? 🥱

Done the washing, hoovered , kitchen cupboards sorted and wiped over. Now I’m painting the fencing in the garden and a break for a hot chocolate!!

I'm at the hairdresser's waiting for my highlights to do their thing. I was a bit bored till I remembered that I had earphones with me and iPlayer on my phone. Now I can watch some progs my hubby isn't interested in. Win-win!!

My turn to bore you all to tears! But really I am going to tell you of a great achievement. I was about to engage in a spot of floor washing when I found I had no cleaner for my scooshy mop. Normally I would shout 'Eureka' at this discovery, but today I decided to press on. My knees, at the age of 83 have a strong aversion to actually kneeling, so I engaged a tai chi squat called a don you and cleaned the floors by hand with a cloth!! I now have an aching back - but my knees are absolutely fine - and a feeling of smug satisfaction that will last me many days. Now how's that for boring?

I have washed my bedding and hung it to dry. Now I'm staring out the window at the clouds wondering whether to risk a walk. This may go on for some time.

Piles of ironing, I've let it build, some cooking, trip to the gym to exercise, I don't enjoy it but mindful of 'use it or lose it'. Quick in and out of there when it's quiet. All interspersed by 'Escape to the Country' when I'll have a Hot Cross Bun, which constitutes the highlight of my day today, which should qualify in the boring stakes I would have thought.⁰

I read your post AnnieB, just wanted to add so glad you are happy in your new home, I don't think you were before. The surroundings of lovely gardens sound very nice.

That's enough excitement for one day!!

I should carry on decluttering. There might be some very interesting treasures to be found at the backs of drawers and cupboards.

My day is riveting, and I have a spare bedroom if anybody would like to join me. I am about to return my wheelie and small food bin to their rightful places, as they have been emptied.

This pm I may sit outside with a coffee and watch the weeds grow.

sue421 I could have written your post especially how simple things like a tasty breakfast is so satisfying.

Like you I’m very grateful for the help and support I do have for my husband but sometimes I do miss the freedom to just pop to the shops for a pint of milk whenever I run out. However I accept this is part of my life too and I wouldn’t have it any other way at present.

Morning Anniebach it was lovely to read about your nursing home. I'm so pleased for you that you are comfortable there and able to enjoy your days. I have clear memories of how difficult life was for you during lockdown. And like me, you were newly bereaved of a beloved adult child. Thinking of you. Sending you a hug.

Anniebach that sounds a lovely situation where you are and it's good to know you're happy there - and near your grandchildren.

I have very mixed days and sometimes the same sort of day is what I want and at other times I am bored by it!! So , my first problem is besides other things I have a very bad back, and can wake up intending to do something but end up struggling just to get through the day and nothing I want done. So if I feel ok and the weather is good I ignore the jobs and go out while I can.

So then a day like today is not boring, just about doing what I can manage and being pleased no one else can see the mess here! The excitement of the day today is a choice between managing to get all the pots washed dried and put away, so that the kitchen looks tidy , and trying to do some filing and throwing paperwork away. Here I have managed to do quite a bit, but you wouldnt think so if you saw the room, it looks no tidier than when I started.

I am also quite pleased with making a dinner using up lots of bits and pieces and clearing space in the fridge. Have you fallen asleep yet with the tale of my boring day?

You can tell how boring my day has been when I tell you that I’m excited right now because it’s raining! 😂

Yes a very good win! Not a boring day as we were at a reception on the Tames to watch the race, plus the other 3. All won by Cambridge!
