A boring day thread

A slightly boring day here of cutting back shrubs so we can see the wood from the trees! We uncovered a flowering cherry that we didn’t know was there and I’m hoping it will grow now. Our backs are aching now, we have overdone it but have a sense of satisfaction and a job well done. We lifted some large bags of bark and that really did our backs a bit so resting after showers while watching Tom Hanks on bbc1.

That's not at all boring!
It's productive, well done.

I can have many boring days, from being a very lively person, my 24/7 caring has really impacted on my life. BUT this is the way it is.... I have deliveries by Morrisons or Tesco, so shopping is sorted. I love reading and friends keep me supplied with suggestions for books. Sometimes I sit here and think I'm bored but really I could probably do with a nap! To keep my energy going. I could find something to do, a very small garden to look after, organise some friends to provide support so I can go out for a couple of hours once a week, and I have just organised a 4 night holiday while a friend who will stay with my husband. We met when we were 17! First holiday for 4 years. It is not bliss, but it is what it is. Also I am finding that little pleasures as' avocado on toast, mushrooms on toast etc for breakfast just mean a lot to me. I have to say my husband is a wonderful patient. So I have it easy. I do look at how hard it is for other people. I love photography but not able to do this as I used to... but I still try. Plus I do have a network of friends who will be there for us. We are so lucky. But I still get in the doldrums, at 74 I expected more life, but that has not happened... and I have to go with it.

Yes a very good win! Not a boring day as we were at a reception on the Tames to watch the race, plus the other 3. All won by Cambridge!

Whiff thank you, so kind. I chose to move to the nursing home, rheumatoid arthritis from toes to shoulders, through the Covid lockdowns I had to live off Liquid food, no meals on wheels, no carers available. Was to have replacements hip and knee but Covid brought long delays.
I decided enough, my younger daughter and son in law had a barn renovated into a bungalow for me but I wanted to stay near my grandchildren, the three in full time employment but I had promised their mother, my darling elder daughter I would care for them.
I chose a nursing home about 20 miles from them, a private
nursing home and I am happy here. Staff are great , nurses, carers, kitchen , laundry, gardeners all . The gardens are beautiful, many activities.
I was born and attended school four miles from where I live now, feel I have come home

Anniebach sorry to hear you are in a nursing home . Hope they are looking after you and there are things for you to do . And the food and company is good.

I think days that seem boring or mundane are part and parcel of life. We can’t be busy, occupied and on the go all the time (and I realise for some, being on the go is no longer physically an option).

Usually, I’m quite content to be doing the mundane and some of the things I enjoy doing would, perhaps, be boring to others, i.e. “busy doing nothing”.

Having said all that, there are times when I feel totally fed up with myself and “bored” and can’t motivate myself to settle to anything at all - when I feel like that, I could scream. Again, though, I suppose feeling like that at times is quite normal.

Today, I’ve not done very much at all, been to church, done a couple of squardle puzzles, written a few Easter cards and come on here. If there’s anything of interest on the tv tonight, I might watch that 😁.

The Boat Race I mean. Used to love watching that!

Oh I missed it!

I got all my summer clothes out on the spare bed with the intention of getting rid of what I rarely wear. Wearing 20% of your clothes 80% of the time sort of thing. I popped downstairs for a cup of tea and then indecision, apathy and procrastination kicked in. I read my book instead.

I'm not happy today. It's not going to be a boring one. I'll not say more than that.
However, I was amazingly happy and smug yesterday when I discovered how to order a Nectar card. I can hardly wait to access the astounding bargains that will open up to me.
