There seems to be a need for it!

Post here what you are doing, if your day is boring.

I, and some others, will still find it interesting.

Thank you crossstitchfan, and I’m glad your mishaps weren’t serious.

My washing machine has a facility that allows me to set it to start at a particular time, so the wash started at 6 am, done by 7. I was awake, just not up!

If mine had been blessed with that facility, I wouldn’t have had a problem!
Do you know, now, at the age of 79, I often wonder how I’ve survived so long when so many domestic appliances were a bit dangerous in years gone by. My grandmother, in the 50s used to air her washing by putting it in the oven on low. She would then invariably fall asleep! How she survived, I’ll never know!
I think the most dangerous thing I have ever done was trying to fish a bit of toast out of the toaster, where it had got firmly stuck. This was when I got married, in the 60s.
I used a knife! The toaster was plugged in, and on. Luckily for me, it started sparking and alerted me and thankfully, I did have the sense to turn it off at that point! Phew!

Did a wash load this morning, and now it's dry. I ate a sandwich whilst looking on Facebook Marketplace. Popping to the shops now.
Staying around home today, went out in the car yesterday and am getting over it.

The washing machine has just beeped to tell me it has finished the overnight wash. I’d better get up to hang the washing out. Then the major decision of the day - stay up, or back to bed with a book and a cuppa?
Will watch the boat race later.

I don’t want to rain on your parade but I used to do my washing overnight too until I came down one morning to a flooded kitchen and a very unhappy washing machine. After that, I always did the drying in the day.
Once, I put a load of washing in the drier and sat with my husband to watch a drama we loved called ‘London’s Burning’. Halfway through, I laughingly told my husband I could smell the smoke that I could see on the tv. To my surprise, he said he could too, and shot into the utility room where there definitely was smoke coming from somewhere! We turned everything off and called the Fire Brigade who came and said the drier was probably faulty.
They said that if we had carried on drying overnight, we probably would not have survived! So, be warned!

We went to the supermarket.

It was very busy. I bought DH a surprise Easter egg. He has to pretend not to have seen it (having packed it in the bag).

I’ve showered and dressed, eaten brekkie, a mid morning pastry, a light-ish lunch, opened the post, mainly bills btw and flicked round with a fluffy duster.Need a rest now.
Later I need to hide my Easter Eggs from DD’s who will be popping in sometime.I was given 2 from work colleagues and don’t plan to share them.

Sorted the cat's toy basket.
Explained that I was giving some unloved ones to the poor pussies who didn't have toys of their own.

Shades of my mother here and my toys as a child.

Well I thought I was having a boring day, until we went out to a local farm shop and saw these 3 drop dead gorgeous individuals. Not boring at all.

Then how dare you be on this thread 😂

Oreo Thu 17-Apr-25 15:31:11

X post Aldom we think alike 😁

Not even the layer I lie upon ,which is not exactly a sheet. But I don't seek a disreputable reputation by being more explicit.

The mind boggles

Allira Thu 17-Apr-25 15:20:35

Be careful of sheets that are not tucked in.
That way lies a trip hazard and possible fractures.

I speak from experience.

Aldom Thu 17-Apr-25 15:19:27

Caleo, my mind is boggling.
What do you sleep on?????
confused

I don't tuck in bedclothes any more.

What!! Not even the bottom sheet?! This deserves banner headlines as shock of the day. 😲😂

Hellogirl1 Thu 17-Apr-25 12:20:40

Taichinan, I assume the bag came through the letterbox! Filling the bag will be a sad job, because it will mostly be my daughter`s clothes, she who died in November. She would have said it was a boring job, lol!

Taichinan Thu 17-Apr-25 12:17:53

Just had a really really fascinating time. Took a boxful of bottles to the bottle bank and had to feed them one by one into an empty bin. Very satisfyingly noisy 😉

J52 Thu 17-Apr-25 11:50:35

Having a boring 5 mins. The rest of the day is busy and interesting.

Aveline Thu 17-Apr-25 11:46:52

Went to Aquafit class then coffee afterwards. Might just slump for the rest of the day.

Ziggy62 Thu 17-Apr-25 11:05:19

Oh should have said "slow walk with the dog"

Ziggy62 Thu 17-Apr-25 11:04:43

Had a plum and a hot cross bun for breakfast 😋 (well it is Easter), made the bed, slow walk round part of the village, sitting with cup of tea now listening to radio 2

Oh I love this boring retirement, might change the beds later, might not
