Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,dry and cold here in brackley at the moment.
Today the usual routine with a bus to trip,to Bicester , have a chat with those I know.
Mobile phone wise booked a appointment with a local EE/BT store to get them to put new sim card in and start the top up.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

oh no GrannyIvy, I wonder if it could be bed bugs, they hide in corners, under matresses and by skirtings, could have been picked up anywhere, even from cloth bus seats. Do you wake up with the bites or do they appear when in a different room?

Bedbugs are attracted to warm bodies at night. I had the bites overnight after staying in student accommodation, when on a course. Horribly itchy

GrannyIvy Mon 14-Apr-25 08:10:03

I’m just looking at bug bombs now as my sister used one successfully when her cats had infested the house with fleas. I always worry using things like that tho 🙈.

Good morning from Nerja not far from Malaga. The weather has been a little disappointing with spells of heavy rain. The sun is just up and it's looking bright out there.

Yesterday was lazy after the chaos which is Manchester airport at the start of school holidays. My friends have been close to me and my sister since childhood, so some tearful memories, but also some laughter at things we did as teens, e.g. screaming at the Beatles' arrival at the airport!

They bought fish and prawns from along the coast where it was landed, and I don't think I've ever had seafood like it.

Have a good day everyone. Kind thoughts to all with worries and sadness.

GrannyIvy Mon 14-Apr-25 08:07:21

Getting to the point I will try anything😂😂 Not heard that one before though!!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 14-Apr-25 08:06:56

GrannyIvy you can buy bug bombs on Amazon, they have various options, and the ones used by DD on her flat after purchase were effective.

Grandmabatty Mon 14-Apr-25 08:02:43

GrannyIvy I've heard people put their bedding in the freezer to get rid of biting insects. I'm not sure if that was just a story though. It's worth trying.

Another here who is looking forward to lots of cruise photos this week (10 days?) … I’m happy to go ‘virtually’. 😁

Good morning all from a sunny Black country, NannyJan we have had no rain seems to have passed us by.
General tidying up and I have one more wardrobe that needs sorting might make a start on that.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Grammaretto Mon 14-Apr-25 07:54:03

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Back to cold and wet.
I have just hauled my overfull wheelie bin out to the roadside. I do hope it will be emptied. I feel for the poor folk of Birmingham.

I forgot to ask my Helpers to do the work but they don't appear until midday.
I held a work party here yesterday to clear my studio. The helpx couple brought us down tea and cake.

Exercise class this morning. Not on a beach. I should stick to the boring thread!

Glad you're getting that phone sorted Mick

Hope everyone has a really good day.

EkwaNimitee Mon 14-Apr-25 07:50:26

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp Carlisle where it has been spotting with rain.
Yesterday's forecast rain didn't happen, it was mostly a bright sunny day but with a very chilly wind so no sitting out.
I went for an early walk and was surprised at the chill of it.
I'm walking faster now but keeping within the same pulse range as before so must be getting fitter. Don't think trekking the high mountains is ever going to happen again though!

Today's tasks...break the back of the vacuuming and laundry followed by an afternoon on the computer and some reading. I'm re-reading some old tomes with a view of passing them on to the charity shop.

Have the best possible day everyone.

Good morning from a sunny Cambridgeshire.
Yesterday I dustbusted the bedroom looking for the little biters and all clean bedding again but woke this morning with two new bites!! Today the lounge will get a good do. There seem to be a lot of those little gnats around at the moment so wondering if they are the culprit!

Thinking of Gingster and her DH and hope this week will see progress and be easier.
Sending best wishes to all those struggling 💐

Gingster Mon 14-Apr-25 07:47:06

Good morning all and it’s sunny but feels chilly here in Essex.

DS2 and family enjoyed their weekend at our seaside cottage. The weather was beautiful for them and they enjoyed their weekend at beach and even saw a seal (a rare highlight).
The neighbours rushed up to them with kind wishes for Dh and said how they’ve missed us being there. 😳.
They haven’t spoken to us for 5 years since we spent 10 weeks during lockdown there, and they disapproved! 🙄.

Today we have the Physio coming and later on the Stroke Nurse.

Brother and his wife visited yesterday but after an hour Dh told them he was tired and they beat a hasty retreat.
Being a ‘not very sociable’ man , it gives him (Dh) a valid excuse to get rid of people 😂🤣.

Happy cruising Bluesapphire and Glammagran. I’m very envious - we love a cruise.🛳️. Send pics and ‘take us with you’ .

Take care all and enjoy the day.🌱

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 4°C sunny (yes it’s gorgeous here) and will be 15°C with possible showers. We have no plans. Himself just said ‘a whole new day, untouched’. We are enjoying TIB courtesy of Himself. School holidays for both of ours I’m sure we will be seeing something of them during the week. Mind you the Boy Wonder is starting ‘seeing his mates’ for a game of footie in the park opposite. They really do grow up so quickly. He will be 13 this summer and it seems like yesterday when he wanted to play at grandma’s! L’il Miss (8) still does of course. Yesterday I got a message “can I come to yours?” 😁 she doesn’t know her iPad is linked (sensibly) to her mum’s phone. Monitoring in a good way. Of course I replied “sure if mum says yes”.

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy, cooler and windy, no rain

Still full moon effects for me, full moon yesterday, I slept fitfully again

The `new` milk/cream probiotic ferment has worked very well, I just had some on my breakfast, delicious. It takes 24 hours to stabilise in the fridge, to become creamy. Now I have two different lactobacillus species in separate pots in the fridge, also frozen as starters. Tomorrow evening I will combine both species, add milk/cream and prebiotic then ferment for 36 hours. One species is to colonise the small intestine with many advantages to the body, the other will colonise the large intestine to help sleep, both are excellent for the microbiome and hence the immune system

Taichinan, lovely beach photo yesterday, group energy would have been very calming

Yesterday not as `planned` I managed to order the last 5 large bags of real peat-based compost from the manufacturer and they will store in my garage this week. I tidied and made room in there yesterday. That stuff was like gold for the local gardeners. and I will use it carefully, it should last a few years

A trip out for me today, to source a compost called sylvagrow, there are good comments about that one, not so about rubbish westland. The stored westland in my garage is only fit to spread on my plot beds

I need to stretch my back, lifting heavy compost bags compresses me, makes me even shorter

Have a good day

Good morning all. A damp start to the day in Glasgow due to heavy rain and hail mostly overnight.

My outing today is a visit to the dentist early afternoon apart from that, Possibly a Waitrose visit for a few bits and pieces.

Have the best day possible all.

brook2704 Mon 14-Apr-25 07:25:22

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and much cooler Inverness, there’s not much sun in the forecast today
Hope your dad gets his appointment soon Pantglas and it’s soon sorted
I’m off to the gym this morning and then the DGC are both coming to stayover tonight. I’ll need to for in a trip to Tesco too to replenish the fridge
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

luluaugust Mon 14-Apr-25 07:19:50

Good morning from WKent where it is sunny at present. The cleaner is coming this morning and I have a pile of ironing so not very exciting. Looks like another quiet day
Best wishes

RosieandherMaw Mon 14-Apr-25 07:19:48

Ah but was there a donkey @ Grandmattie ?
I remember one processing round our church many years ago and it was beautifully behaved!
Good morning all from N Bucks. Sunny but I understand it will be cooler.
Somewhat surprised by the rain yesterday, I suppose I shouldn’t be, April showers and all that.
Book group today -I hastily had to reread the book (Kate Atkinson ‘s “Death at the Sign of the Rook” and actually enjoyed it more than first time round - so win-win.)
Quick trip to the PO first though to return a Seasalt cotton jacket, nice enough, but I just don’t need it now I see what I have got from previous summers)
Wishing you a pleasant day and Holy Week - how the year is flying past! 😱😱😱

NannyJan53 Mon 14-Apr-25 07:06:53

Good morning from a brighter Black Country, where it rained yesterday afternoon and overnight.

Meeting up with Cousin and Aunt at lunchtime, at a pub local to Mum. Mum, SIL and Brother are joining us. Not seen my cousin since October, before she started her Chemo, so looking forward to a lots of chat.

Photo's from DGD4 from her ski trip to Canada. She is having a ball!

Wishing you all the best day possible

RosesandLilac Mon 14-Apr-25 07:04:54

Good morning, it’s sunny here at the moment in south Glos, the rain hasn’t yet materialised.
I got all my washing line dried yesterday 👏, cleaned and tidied through the house so all’s done at the moment.
I will take the dogs out shortly then I need to look for a few bits in my craft room- I had a tidy up recently and can’t find anything! That’ll keep me happily occupied for a while before I start another pastel drawing.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

GrannyGravy13 Mon 14-Apr-25 06:58:20

Morning everyone

Wishing Bluesaphire and Glammagran a wonderful cruise 🚢

I am on granny duties today with the 10 yr old and The Imp, no plans will go with the flow.

Have a good day 🙋‍♀️

Good Morning from Durham. A bright, sunny start but changing to cloudy and windy later.
I’ve been awake for hours, after weird dreams about the Army! As a nervous patient, I’m very apprehensive about seeing a new dentist this morning. It was to be just a checkup, but I’ve just lost a chunk of tooth. My old dentist took early retirement at Christmas - I’d been with him for 30 years. A friend is taking me, saves using my car, (as recommended by my garage) as it can’t be looked at until 25/4.

Lots of GNs taking flight or ‘setting sail’ these days - enjoy.
💐For those feeling below par or looking after others who are.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday was a roaring success! We sold over half of the honey. Such an early start though and I was in bed by 8.30 pm.

Our cleaner is here today and our gardener. I have shopping to do and a present to buy for my great nephew in Australia. I bought him a toy bulldozer the other day but realised it would cost a fortune to post so took it back.

This afternoon is the monthly craft group. We are meeting at a different friend’s house. My friend over the road who usually hosts has a severe case of shingles - and she’s had the jabsad

Have a good day everyone.

Sar53 Mon 14-Apr-25 06:50:29

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast. The rest of the week isn't looking so good.
We've had a nice weekend catching up with friends culminating with a lovely roast yesterday.
Have a good day everyone xx

Grandmabatty Mon 14-Apr-25 06:48:06

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and slightly wet. Dark clouds above. GrandMattie I hope you can get a nap at some point today. Ash thank you for your good wishes. Has the headache subsided now?
Yesterday we had family breakfast and it was lovely. The boys were really well behaved and ate prodigiously. We raised a teacup to mum. Mum and dad started the breakfast once a month club years ago and insisted on paying. It was a way to keep in touch with family. In the afternoon, I didn't do much. Dd came round with washing for me to tumble dry, so I'll finish that off today.
This morning I will definitely need to go to Aldi. My remaining milk had gone off and I've no bread left. So a quick trip there. Then I'm meeting a friend for brunch in town. Later today, dd will pick up her washing and is dropping off dinner. A fair exchange! Pulled pork and cheesy mash, I believe. I will continue to read my library book which I'm enjoying very much. Have a good day all.
