At last - the thirsty garden needs it, we've been watering the pots so it's very welcome. Let's hope it will dampen down any wildfires too.

But, of course, it's the first day of the school holidays!

If only we could turn it on overnight and off in the day-time.

Steady drizzle here in the SW now. When I went out for my usual dusk wander around the garden I grabbed the nearest hat and pottered around wearing pyjamas, slippers and a straw sun hat. Very glad we're not overlooked.

Really! I’m 12 miles north Manchester. It’s been very cold, especially this morning with some cloud but mostly bright skies.
No wonder we all talk about the weather 🌞

That explains it. We’re nearer 50 miles north of Manchester.
It’s raining in Nice too, sadly.

Bit of drizzle yesterday evening here in Bedfordshire. Nothing at all today and my clay soil is pretty dry. Some rain predicted for tomorrow and I am really hoping for some steady rain despite the school holidays.

It’s bound to get colder as I changed the duvet to the summer one today.

I nearly put my winter woollies away, all washed and ready to store.
Just as well I didn't, I'm wearing one today.

No rain here in North Leicestershire but I do love that song.

A golden oldie!

There's a weather warning for Wales and the West Country for tomorrow. The ground is so dry 🤞 there is no flooding.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 14-Apr-25 21:49:00

Still no rain here yet. Tomorrow late on I think for south Manchester.

henetha Mon 14-Apr-25 23:34:06

Some rain south Devon today, but not enough. But the forecast says more soon so that's good 👍 We really need it.

It’s remarkable how our weather varies so much in areas in close proximity. My son in law’s manager in Salford, 10 miles away, didn’t believe our cars were snowed in.

It is absolutely lashing down here in S E Essex, and has been for a fair few hours judging by the puddles on our driveway.

wonderful.. we had lots of rain overnight

Allira Tue 15-Apr-25 09:55:02

Nothing more here but some is promised for this afternoon - just when I'm going out!

It rained, hurrah, in South Leicestershire over night. Grey looking now so expect more.

The rain has just started here, gentle and hardly enough to moisten ground surface. Not enough for my almost empty large water butts. A few days of this and then a big deluge would be helpful. Sudden heavy rain on dry dusty ground is not good, it runs off

Air pressure has slowly fallen to 996 and is now steady. I don`t think there will be any nasty rain event, not in s somerset anyway

It felt too cool in the house today, I had turned the ch off. Stove lit at 8, it has a fan on top, the whole house is now cosy and the fire is dying down

I’ve had to do a lot of watering, esp. one bed that badly needed weeding - the ground was rock hard.
We’ve had a little rain, not enough though, but it’s bound to rain over the bank holiday weekend, isn’t it?

Of course it will! Remember the continuous lovely Easter weather and May Bank holidays in recent years? Yes that's right 2020 when we were all in lockdown. Typical!

And all I've had in London was a spit and a spot, desperately need some persistent light rain to give it a chance of soaking into my London clay.

Been pouring here since breakfast time . S W Wales

J52 Tue 15-Apr-25 14:23:34

Yellow weather warning for rain in Wales and Northern Ireland!!

Whitewavemark2 Tue 15-Apr-25 14:40:47

Steady rain all night, but looking today the plants under shrubs etc, were still bone dry. So it hasn’t penetrated.

Allira Tue 15-Apr-25 17:28:25

It's been a pleasant, cloudy but dry afternoon here.

watermeadow Tue 15-Apr-25 20:37:05

Well, it would be raining in south Wales, wouldn’t it?
Here in southern England we’ve had almost none for the last two months. The grass is as brown as late summer but still the trees are bursting into leaf and blossom.

nanna8 Wed 16-Apr-25 00:14:14

I wish we could have some rain. It is so dry here, everything is wilting and the ‘grass’ is just a brown mat. All our rain seems to have gone up north to Queensland. We had a 10 year drought back in the 80 s and it feels like that again.

JamesandJon33 Wed 16-Apr-25 06:51:49

Very wet and stormy night, in Carmarthenshire

henetha Wed 16-Apr-25 10:37:34

A huge clap of thunder last yesterday evening sure made me jump. And then all hell let loose, thunder, lightning, wind, heavy rain. I didn't sleep.....
