The Day That The Rains Came Down

At last - the thirsty garden needs it, we've been watering the pots so it's very welcome. Let's hope it will dampen down any wildfires too.

But, of course, it's the first day of the school holidays!

If only we could turn it on overnight and off in the day-time.

Zilch here! Promising some overnight. Need it -ground is bone dry like dust.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 14-Apr-25 17:08:52

None here either!

Allira Mon 14-Apr-25 17:12:55

Actually, although it seemed heavy and promising for half an hour, it's brightening up again now!

Nope nothing.

It waited till 4.30 here and it’s fine again now. The schools here have already been closed for a week, so the children have enjoyed at least one week of good weather.

WWM I think we're forecast rain tomorrow and Wed, then at the w/e.. fingers x'd

Our schools went back today so the holidays have been unusually fine. Quite often the start of the holidays brings on snow!

Rosie51 Mon 14-Apr-25 17:34:22

No rain for me today although the sky is quite dark and rain is promised later tonight. Our schools have been off last week too so they've had one good week and two decent weekends. I've enjoyed the quieter roads, much less traffic.

Although it’s cloudy now, there is no rain yet. It’s forecast for tomorrow, but only showers. The garden desperately needs a good soak.

Schools here have gone back today and then close for the Easter weekend, so closed Friday this week and Monday next. It seems silly to have the 2 weeks prior to Easter as the main holiday rather than incorporating Easter into the spring break like they always used to do here.

Not all schools in nearby LA’s have followed this pattern, and are incorporating Easter weekend into their 2 weeks break.

Gosh, I’m only in mid Wales, and we haven’t had very much at all yet. It keeps coming over threatening, then we get more sunshine instead. It’s pretty windy though.

We've had rain all day here in Scotland (South of Edinburgh) but we had a glorious week so I'm not complaining. The kids have another week's holiday.

We had an absolute monsoon for about a quarter of an hour yesterday I literally only had to cross the road from a car to my house and got soaked to the skin and had to run through inches of water on the road it was whizzing down in about an inch or more depth Then as suddenly as it started it stopped I opened my back door and there was about 2 inches on the path outside very unusual

Very little here and we are having to water pots etc. Fortunately we have several water butts full of the wet stuff and having sandy soil it soon dries out again.

crazyH Mon 14-Apr-25 18:18:48

It’s very dull here in SW

Georgesgran Mon 14-Apr-25 18:20:04

Not a drop here in Durham. The water butt is empty as the roofers had to empty it to move it.

SueDonim Mon 14-Apr-25 19:07:14

Second week of school hols and the weather has changed to April showers. My garden was so dry I couldn’t even dig it yesterday so I’m grateful for today’s rainfall, even if I’ve had to wear a coat again!

JamesandJon33 Mon 14-Apr-25 19:07:37

Casdon Supposed to be horrendous tomorrow. We always get the rain first ☹️

We are wet in the north west -and the fog wants to sit on my after our latest walk.

Iam64 Mon 14-Apr-25 19:31:26

Really! I’m 12 miles north Manchester. It’s been very cold, especially this morning with some cloud but mostly bright skies.
No wonder we all talk about the weather 🌞

Whitewavemark2 Mon 14-Apr-25 19:35:42

It’s bound to get colder as I changed the duvet to the summer one today.

MiniMoon Mon 14-Apr-25 19:44:49

We were promised rain in Northumberland but haven't had any. There might be some overnight, or so we are told by the local weather forecast.
Here's hoping.

Iam64 Mon 14-Apr-25 21:01:48

Mollygo - we’ve had a downpour now- gatdens very thankfully
