Its dark and wet outside here in brackley this morning.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and damp. Thank you all for your kind words. They are very much appreciated.
Yesterday I went to Aldi and stocked up. It was a lot cheaper than when I have the boys! Then I met a friend for brunch and a blether. The afternoon brought sad and welcome news. My son, who has not been in touch with any family for over three years, contacted me and his sister, asking if we would see him. Both of us replied immediately, so I saw him at dds house for the first time in all that time. It was bittersweet. He apologised for his behaviour and explained why he had lost touch. As I suspected, he has been mentally unwell and shut himself away from everyone. He still isn't well, but at least the death of his grandma made him reach out. I hope he feels able to attend today.
So today. The forecast is for showers so I'll take a brolly. Dsil is picking me up and the day will unfold.
Happy birthday to GrandMattie. I hope you have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 6°C. It doesn’t feel like it with no sun and it has rained during the night. I have a mani/pedi booked at the salon this afternoon, I think I’ll just go for a classic Frenchcant remember the last time I asked for that. Drinks this evening with our neighbours at their ‘6 o’clock club’. Lovely and always great to chat and have a laugh together, so good for our well being. Don’t they say ‘laughter is the best medicine’?

Gingster Tue 15-Apr-25 07:53:00

Good morning all and yes it’s raining here in Essex. Lovely for the garden , not so lovely for the children’s school hols.

Yesterday was another busy one- physio and stroke nurse. Both excellent ladies. They gave Dh a good session and he was very tired for the rest of the day. Physio says he’s very strong - arms and legs but still shuffling while walking with his frame. Speech comes and goes. Early days and baby steps!

Today Dd and dgd6 will come and I can either shop or dog walk. DGD will probably want to come with me.

Grandmabatty thoughts are with you on your sad goodbye . 🙏.
GrandMattie happy birthday to you and your gd. What a lovely day you had together 🎂.
An end of an era Ash but you’ve had a great time for nine years.

I hope all poorlies feel a bit better today and those who are ‘down in the dumps’ feel brighter.🙏 🌱

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, wet and miserable Carlisle.
Yesterday was grey all day and rain started in the late afternoon. The garden needed it so I'm not complaining but the gloom certainly affected my mood so, after a busy morning, I hunkered down with a book which finally ended up on the charity shop pile.
Today, a planned visit to the museum this morning, a good way to spend a wet morning. There's an exhibition by a rag rug artist. My rug making was once confined to Readicut but it will be interesting to see what can be done with rags!
I also have yet another prescription to collect and may be tempted into a certain chocolate shop seeing as Easter weekend is coming up...
This afternoon, the re-reading of another candidate for the charity bookshop and more holiday research.

Happy Birthday to you and your DGD grandMattie.

And I hope all goes as well as it can on these occasions, Grandmabatty, a sad day for you and yours.

Good morning from a wet Essex coast.
Thinking of you today Grandmabatty 💐.
Happy Birthday to GM and her DGD. It sounds like you had a lovely time yesterday.
Not a lot going on here today so I'll wish you all a pleasant day xx

RosesandLilac Tue 15-Apr-25 08:08:08

Good morning from a sunny spot in south Glos, at the moment, it looks like the patio is slightly damp.
A lovely walk yesterday past BlueBelle woods and along field tracks, bigger dog was off lead the whole time with tiddler scurrying around investigating every thing, on her longline. There were wonderful cloud formations, quite stormy looking at times, and big open views.
I spent several hours in my craft room, looking for a few items unsuccessfully 🙄 but at least I now know what art materials I have!
I took the two dogs out together later, not the cleverest idea I decided halfway round (!), so I won’t do that again! It’s fine until you meet too many off lead dogs, then mayhem ensues!
Today I’ll take tiddler to the village for a walk, I need to go to the post office, bigger dog has her walker.
Then DH is out for lunch so I don’t have to cook!! Salad for me 😋
I’ll do something arty later, enjoy the peace and quiet 😊
Thinking of you gBatty 🤗

Good morning from a dull Suffolk with rain predicted later. As the days get longer,so do the time we seem to stay asleep in bed!

I’m meeting up with a dear friend for coffee and ,her wish, cheese scones. She’ll pick me up on our way to our nearest town so a lazy start to the day for me. We’ll probably wander to a favourite pub for lunch as we haven’t seen each other for nearly a month so lots to catch with.

Today seems a happy day for some and a poignant one for at least one of us. I hope all have the best day possible whatever experiences lay ahead.

madeleine45 Tue 15-Apr-25 08:25:24

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey still morning , but looking like we can expect rain soon here in North Yorkshire.

Another frustrating start to the morning, am struggling and managed to drop a dish on the kitchen floor which of course smashed into lots of pieces. Not even swept it up yet. Worse things happen at sea, as they say, but still annoying. I am longing to bo swimming as that helps me quite a lot but because of my eye, not allowed to yet.

Yesterday I did at least manage to fulfill my huge engagement list by putting my prescription in and travelling to Thirsk for fuel and coffee etc!! I then did have a little detour through the countryside home, and it was lovely to see the greening hedges and the daffodils. So have enough food in etc, and it will definitely be a day at home, plodding along as best as possible I may discover the remote control which has disappeared who knows where.

A very happy birthday to grandMattie and her grandaughter. Oh to be so young at 77.

Thinking of you today Grandmabatty and hoping everything goes as you want it to.

Karmalady You definitely deserve a quieter day today after all your efforts in the garden yesterday. You will remember your great efforts when you eat your first asparagus from there. Hope they all settle in and grow well for you.

Hoping that today goes as well as possible for everyone, take care of yourselves

Blossoming Tue 15-Apr-25 08:30:10

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire,

I slept so well last night, I am now sat up in bed drinking water. MrB has gone to the supermarket for the weekly big shop, so I will wait until he’s back to supervise before I have my shower.

Thinking of GrandmaBatty today and hoping all goes smoothly.

Happy Tuesday 🌹

Taichinan Tue 15-Apr-25 08:35:02

Good morning Mick and all. It's an April Showers day on the Angus coast and feeling a bit chilly.
A sad day for Grandmabatty today flowers
Happy Birthday grandmattie and your DGD. Doesn't time fly when you're not looking! I'm glad you had a lovely day together yesterday.
I have good news of my DGS1 - the chemo seems to have done its stuff and he doesn't need to go back for another check-up for two months. It's still very much 🤞days, but such encouraging news.
Tai chi day again, so I'm off to get ready. I know all the holiday makers will have a wonderful day and I hope all the rest will too, whatever you're doing x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 15-Apr-25 08:45:03

So good to hear of the reunion with your estranged son yesterday Grandmabatty. Thoughts with you all today for the funeral service.

Ashcombe sounds a sensible decision re your static and what a positive thing to think as you locked up, no regrets just gratitude.

And to our grandMattie I wish you many happy returns of the day dear lady. I can imagine why you feel emotional. Poignant memories I expect.

Sallyforth it’s good your happy memories of your late sister made you smile. She’d have liked that. Those memories will comfort you in the days ahead.

Kalu Tue 15-Apr-25 08:49:57

Good morning all. It’s a wet grey day in Glasgow with no respite from the chilly winds, it’s not a pleasant day.

My thoughts are with you today GB. A difficult day ahead for you. 💐
Happy birthday GM and many happy returns of the day. 🎂
Good luck with your scan Susan.

A few bits of admin at some point today, otherwise, there is always plenty to do indoors.
Just a whisper, I don’t want to tempt fate but I am on day three without the need for pain relief. 🤞sciatica is almost gone.
I too need some dental work and have an appointment for a dental scan tomorrow.

Best wishes to all for a good day especially to those of you with sadness and worries.

Jaxjacky Tue 15-Apr-25 08:57:55

Morning, sun is out in S Hants, but we’ve had rain overnight, more due later.
Many happy returns gMattie good you had a lovely day with your granddaughter - special 🎂.
Grandmabatty a tricky day ahead and a rollercoaster with your son, thinking of you 🥀
You sound happier whywhywhy 🤞
Voluntary phone yesterday was oddly busy, a fair few calls, but not for lifts, followed by an evening of quizzing with laughter.
Cleaning, washing and other tedious stuff today

Good morning everyone from a brighter day somewhere off the NW coast of Spain. Quite a lot more movement on the ship overnight, but again not unpleasant, and everyone is tucking into a Full English or similar! It was quite nice being rocked to sleep, but rather awkward clinging on for dear life while trying to have a shower!

Had a lovely hot stone massage yesterday morning, then a manicure and pedicure on the afternoon.

No plans for today - probably sit and read, and I may go to a talk after lunch.
Glad rags on tonight, as it's formal night.

Wishing you all a good day. Happy birthday, GrandMattie 🎂🎁

Ziplok Tue 15-Apr-25 09:09:07

Good morning,
Very overcast and chilly here, with rain (which we do need) forecast.
Thinking of you and your family today Grandmabatty.
It sounds as if you had a lovely day with your GD grandMattie. Happy birthday 🥳.

RosieandherMaw Tue 15-Apr-25 09:27:29

You may not read this until it is all over, but special thoughts to Grandmabatty.
To honour your Mums life with a fitting ceremony and (I hope) that one thing that mums value over everything having the whole family together is the perfect rounding off of that long life.
TBH I got quite cross at another thread a while back dismissing funerals because wile everybody is entitled to their opinion, these “rites of passage” are , to me, an essential part of the fabric of our lives.
I hope it all goes smoothly and that there will be many reminiscences, smiles and hugs along with the tears.
A Happy Birthday to GrandMattie and your DGD. I too turned 77 last month and often wonder how I got here. That said, I am jolly grateful I have, and have no intention of “going anywhere” fir a bit!
Rain overnight, cooler and fresher, but that’s England in April.
Kind thoughts to you all.

hollysteers Tue 15-Apr-25 09:30:43

Good morning from a damp northwest coast sandhills.
I had my covid jab yesterday and have the sorest arm ever. The arm has never bothered me before. I think the giver was practising on me, she seemed to take longer than usual. Last night I had difficulty undressing for bed.

After the jab my plan was to go to an independent farm shop cafe, but it was closed and I ended up in one of the large chain garden centres I’m not so keen on. My cherry scone with jam and cream was delicious however. Returning home, I cooked a pork casserole, plus mince, to freeze.

Today to the music club where I am in charge ‘on the desk’. One of my songs is a folk song I first sang in public when I was seventeen. It’s easier to remember a song from that time than learn a new one.

Thoughts to Grandmabatty and birthday greetings to Grandmattie🌺

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s been raining but the sun is peeping through.

Happy Birthday grandMattie, what a happy day you described yesterday, grandchildren at that age are such a joy aren’t they, it’s wonderful when they seem to enjoy your company too.

I hope today is going well Grandmabatty and that the huge step your son took is the start of a road back to you.🙏🏻

A very slow start this morning and I need to shift myself for the journey into Giffnock. Children are at home so it will be nice to have more relaxed time with them, they have so much on during term time it’s a lot more pressured.

Wishing everyone the best day possible and keeping in mind those needing extra support.

My son has messaged to say he'll see us at the cemetery. Huge step forward. I've warned the family to say nothing contentious - my uncle has form!
