Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and damp. Thank you all for your kind words. They are very much appreciated.
Yesterday I went to Aldi and stocked up. It was a lot cheaper than when I have the boys! Then I met a friend for brunch and a blether. The afternoon brought sad and welcome news. My son, who has not been in touch with any family for over three years, contacted me and his sister, asking if we would see him. Both of us replied immediately, so I saw him at dds house for the first time in all that time. It was bittersweet. He apologised for his behaviour and explained why he had lost touch. As I suspected, he has been mentally unwell and shut himself away from everyone. He still isn't well, but at least the death of his grandma made him reach out. I hope he feels able to attend today.
So today. The forecast is for showers so I'll take a brolly. Dsil is picking me up and the day will unfold.
Happy birthday to GrandMattie. I hope you have a lovely day.

I have visitors for lunch today including a three year old and a three month old ( who will bring his own lunch) and am looking forward to seeing them.

Roof work finished in time for the rain so that is good news. Now have to get the kitchen repainted! There is always something.

Good morning from a dull and wet midlands.
Blood tests this morning to try and find out why these headaches will not go away.
I’m feeling positive though and the depression is held at the door.

Good morning from a wet and mild mid Essex.
granmattie have a very Happy Birthday today!

grandmabatty I hope today goes well, a sad day for you.

I had a lovely weekend with both daughters and their families at Center Parcs at Elvenden Forest. The weather was sunny and warm and it was great to be with family. I’d been anxious about all the walking involved, but my sons in law managed to attach my rollator to the bike rack on one of the cars, so I was fine! I must have walked miles which was no doubt good for me. Enjoyed the pool too.

Back to reality today, a wet morning but I need to go into town to collect my watch after a service and new battery. I also want to look for a new pair of trainers and spend some gift vouchers.

Have the best day possible everyone, with thoughts to those who are poorly or anxious.

Good morning from another hazy day in Malta where the high is forecast to reach 26°C.

Many happy returns to our dear grandMattie and her DGD. Sounds as though you had a good day celebrating yesterday.🥳

Hoping all goes as well as it can on such a sad occasion Grandmabatty. May your mum rest in peace.💐

The boys are back from their little holiday so I will be seeing them this morning if I can haul myself out of bed. I’ve woken feeling more tired than when I went to bed so it’s going to be a struggle.

Wishing a good day to all☀️

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 15-Apr-25 06:37:23

Good morning all from a rainy West Oxfordshire.

It looks like there are birthday greetings aplenty this morning. Others have a difficult day and I’m thinking of them.

I’m not sure of my plans today. I need to buy a present for my great nephew in Australia. I had bought one but took it back as it would have cost a fortune to post.

I was a bit under the weather yesterday with hay fever/rotten cold. OH did the weekly shop. Our cleaner came and the gardener too. She planted a new Rosemary bush for me. It’s probably the herb I use most.

It sounds like trump has been mean about President Zelensky again.

Have a good day.

Sallyforth Tue 15-Apr-25 06:36:24

Good morning Mick and everyone from Andalucia. The sun isn't up yet but after some spells of heavy rain yesterday, there will be sunshine and showers today.

Thinking of you and your family today Grandmabatty. flowers

My nephew has asked me to write about when his DM and I were children. I was tearful at first, but I started yesterday and it was actually therapeutic as more lovely memories keep popping into my head.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned, May the cruisers have calm waters and sunshine. Special thoughts for those with worries and sickness. flowers

Grammaretto Tue 15-Apr-25 06:31:37

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Chilly again here.

My Helpers leave today. I shall miss them though it's also nice when the
house is just mine again.
They/we did some major clearing yesterday and I drove a full car to the tip.

We had haggis and neeps for dinner washed down with a thimble of single
malt.

I have to drive my car to a garage this morning to see if it can be kept on the road a bit longer.

I hope your day goes well Grandmabatty. So hard for you.
💐

Happy birthday gMattie. 🎂
It sounds as though you had a merry time with your "twin".

Hope everyone has some joy today.

Greyduster Tue 15-Apr-25 06:19:03

Happy Birthday, GrandMattie!🎂🥂

Ashcombe Tue 15-Apr-25 06:17:25

Good morning from a dry Torbay where a wet day is forecast.

Thinking of you and your family today, Grandmabatty. 💐 .

Birthday greetings to grandMattie and DGD 🎁

Yesterday, I was pleased to accomplish the drive to my holiday static at Whiddon Down. We brought back quite a lot of personal items as it's being sold. I've owned it for nine years and had some good times there with family and friends or alone. However its increasing age (and ours!) and the rising site fees plus the cost of maintenance have made selling the sensible option. As I locked up prior to leaving, I said, “Thanks for the good times…”

Back to Props this morning whilst DH sees the dental hygienist. He is finding it more convenient to have his dental work done here although it’s more expensive than France but the treatment is more thorough.

A good day to all including the cruisers! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Greyduster Tue 15-Apr-25 06:14:47

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very gloomy, cold South Yorkshire. There will be no joy in the weather today but we do need the rain. My water butt is nearly empty and I haven’t used the hose for so long that the outside tap appears to have seized up! Can’t shift it. I’ll try WD40 and if that doesn’t work I may have to call a plumber.
I am going to haul myself off to the gym this morning and then I have a volunteer session at school this afternoon. Back in the old routine.
Photos are young beeches just coming into a froth of green.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Pantglas2 Tue 15-Apr-25 06:14:12

Oh birthdays…🥂Grandma and DGD your very good health x

karmalady Tue 15-Apr-25 06:12:35

Good morning from s somerset, dull, rainy and cooler today

Yesterday was not as planned, my asparagus crowns turned up and I found that my soil had an underlayer of big stones embedded in solid clay, it needed much work with my heavy gorilla bar. These crowns are in for good and needed a good home so it took me 5 hours to clear their homes. Anyway it is done and my hands are a bit swollen again

Very much an easy day at home today with nothing involving energy nor effort. I prepped a big veggie lasagna, in the fridge waiting for the white sauce today, lunch and ready meals are sorted

Comfy warm loungewear on me today for reading and film-watching. I do want to make stage 2 of my fermentation, stage 1 worked very well so tonight I will make enough for a week. No effort involved

Have a good day

Pantglas2 Tue 15-Apr-25 06:11:04

Good morning all from another moist day in north 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿- showers are infrequent but no chance of getting a wash dry so it can stay in the linen 🧺 until the weekend!

A tough day for Grandmabatty to get through x. Thoughts with all of you juggling different worries, your own or loved ones doesn’t make a difference does it 💐

I have some pearls to rethread this morning (so that I can clutch them at suitably horrifying moments 😱) and a Reiki session with a friend who is training and practices on me!

A quiet but good day at PG Towers…🤗

Susan56 Tue 15-Apr-25 06:03:42

Happy birthday grandMattie🥳🎂.It sounds like you had a lovely day celebrating with your DGD.

grandMattie Tue 15-Apr-25 05:58:41

Good morning from Bristol. Another in different night. Grr.
DGD is 15, and I’m 77! We had a lovely, if exhausting, afternoon together. She can be so incredibly funny and entertaining. We met on the bus and got to the mall. It’s very big, noisy and wearing. She wanted to shop but found nothing, I got a few bits from Lakeland and Boots, then went for our early afternoon tea. She was beside herself with excitement, thanking me for asking her as my +1.
As we finished a very pleasant tea and took a doggy bag of cakes back with us, we were met by DD and Iris. Shoe shopping for Iris is doubly problematic as she has two very different sized feet. Very expensive too.
Once back at theirs, we played rummukub while DD made dinner, after which presents were exchanged; they are spending the day at Stratford and seeing “Much Ado” tonight.

Exhausted , I asked to be taken home after dinner as I was so tired. I’d sent selfies, etc., to DGS (the donor of the tea). He rarely replies to anything, so I was very taken aback when we had a nice little chat by text. He’s on a Mediterranean cruise with a friend for the next fortnight.

Today will be busy-ish, some baking, laundry, then I’m making dinner for our Lent prayer group all three of us. The session will take place here.

Yesterday, we were talking about the use of nasturtiums in salads, here is a photo of a salad I made with only our own greenery when I lived in Sandwich.

Enjoy your cruises, enjoy your families. May the day bring peace and contentment. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
