A very late good morning from the Angus coast. It is positively freezing here (all things being comparative) and I have not only had the heating on for a quick burst but have also raked out a thermal vest and a thick jumper and if my legs don't warm up soon it will be on with the longjohns too!
Mick I hope all goes well at EE for you - I have always found them very helpful, but I suppose it does depend on the assistant you get 🤞
Grandmabatty I'm so glad all went well with your mother's funeral - it sounds as though it was exactly as she would have wanted, right down to the attendance by your son. What a wonderful comfort for you! As Madeleine says above, it's almost as if she willed that for you 🫂
Susan I'm sure all will be well when you get the official result of your scan as no professional would indicate that all was well if they weren't entirely sure.
Sar I'm so sorry to hear your DGD is in hospital again, so worrying for you all. I'm glad for you that you are able to go over and help, and I hope there's good news for you all soon.
My adult DGS1 has had his good news regarding his Hairy Cell Leukaemia - his blood tests show all is going in the right direction (after two emergency spells in hospital, one for a blood transfusion) and he can go back to work when he feels like it. He still feels exhausted, but his attitude has been wonderful throughout and I'm sure it won't be long before he feels fighting fit. Such a relief for everybody! I know it's not all over by a long chalk, and there's another check up in two months and presumably many more after that but, just, phew!
Yesterday's tai chi class went well and it was good to get positive chats with people as they left about what they'd learned. I've been wondering if it isn't time to start stepping back, but yesterday let me feel that there might be life in this old dog yet! Thursday's class is a different kettle of fish, however, as I've been instructing most of them for about ten years and feel both they and I need a breath of fresh air injected! So I've got a handful of students lined up to take a class - and I will have a chance to be a student again. I hope it works out and I can keep my mouth shut and not interfere!
Wednesday is my 'play it by ear and not by clock' day so I will now go and get started! Enjoy the rest of your day everyone - and I hope it's warmer with you than it is here!!

Hi 🙋‍♀️ Lemondrop

RosieandherMaw Wed 16-Apr-25 10:21:27

Good morning from N Bucks where it is sunny but VERY windy.
I'm following a talk on The Marriage of Figaro this morning with lots of beautiful music.
I seem to have let the house get in a bit of a muddle and need to focus on some serous tidying - the sort I generally reserve for when visitors are due! I've felt too tired to bother much other than keeping the kitchen clean!
Rosie has taken to sleeping in a spare room but around 4 must have been feeling lonely because she came through, barked once then jumped up beside me and snuggled down . Why? No idea. My dog is frequently a puzzlement to me.
Wishing you all a pleasant day

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey slightly windy morning in North Yorkshire. Not started raining yet but looks ready to start. Well the gardens can definitely do with the water, and it really needs a good soaking not just a sprinkle of showers.

Well, the weather may not look so good, but I am cautiously better, so a much better frame of mind. Still somewhat creaky but am moving a bit easier, so life is returning to a more normal pace, which means of course less frustration at time taken to do the least thing. However I know what I am like and must not try and do all the things that I havent been able to do in one go, and then back to square one.

Last night after a rubbish sort of day I went off to the games night at the Oddfellows Arms. Not as many people as usual as it was the holiday, but still enough to play. Again I was the absolute beginner in a new card style game, so the frustration level rose through the evening for me! Trying to remember what did what, and didnt even yet recognise a lot of the cards. Trying to check on the rules and then just when I had slowly worked out what I might do, another player would block that and I was back to square one. I kept having to remind myself , as I used to say to my students, that the more you are struggling, the more you are learning , as you are now recognising the problems, whereas at the beginning you did not even know the problems. Anyway it means I have now grasped the basics of another game, and it is a great way to take the mind off whatever is in my mind, whether it is the idiot Trump or the fact that I cant weed the garden.

Tonight , have another game of cards, as it is whist night. But this is something I have been playing for 75 years , so somewhat more competent. It is always a highlight of pleasure of the week. I enjoy the game, in a relaxed way, lovely to meet the group , who are very friendly and pleasant, and such a great range of people and backgrounds. There is a lady called Faith, who is in her nineties. Absolutely on the ball, a good player, and has lived in the area all her life. So she has known one gentleman all his life and remembers his father and he is 79! So they all chat and tease each other , and I learn lots of interesting facts about this area whilst having to keep on my toes in the game. Win or lose, I have a good evening and can just about cope with the extravagance of the night as I have the game and two sets of raffle tickets for £4!! Now that is what I call a bargain.

Ah , here comes the rain, not a lot yet but expect it will get heavier. Just seen the squirrel shoot up the tree - still no sign of leaves on it yet - but no sign of any birds about. Time to get on with some jobs. As it is much cooler I think a good time to tackle the ironing and listen to radio 3. Also need to get the calendars up to date with appointments and reminders. I have two going as I cant dash about. One hanging up but the other smaller one I keep near me whether at the desk or by my chair. Then if I need to check a date, dont have to struggle up while someone on the phone waits for me. I do this for my own benefit, but also hate being late or missing an appointment, and things like the doctors, they have so many waiting for an appointment that it would be awful to waste their time. So a mundane day but hope to have got a bit done by the end of it.

Mick, hope your busy day ends with success with your phone. At least you will have someone who (hopefully) knows what they are doing
Grandmabatty, glad to hear the funeral went well . Your mum gave you one last gift in the support of your son being there and his intention to be with you at Easter. May it lead on to a reunion for good, but at least at this sad time , he is here to give you some support. Something you do not seem to be getting from your brother!! Well as he cannot be at the lawyers without you he will have to change the day and this time check a date that suits you. At least you have the upper hand there because the meeting will not work without you, so if you choose a date that suits you and tell him firmly that is the only possible one, he will have to agree, and if it annoys him or puts him out so much the better. Well I hope you can have a rest today and feel pleased that you have done everything you can to do as your mum wished. May you have a pleasant day with no stress and be kind to yourself.
Susan56, Hope it is all good news from your scan and you can relax and have a rest
Ginny, we used to sail to the Isle of Mann most years and loved going into Port St Mary and Port Erin especially. My son loved going on the little train and we used to go on the bus round the island .Peel had a lovely beach too. Did you remember to say Good morning Fairies as you went over the bridge? My goodness just thinking that my earliest time I sailed there was 1976 I think. No doubt much has changed as I think the last time we called in there was about 1992 . Well hope the weather is good for you later.

Well the rain has now stopped and a little sun coming out, but wont hold my breath as still grey clouds coming my way. Hope everyone can have a successful day whether it is getting something sorted or having a rest.

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers 8°C northwest coast sandhills.
The post covid jab sore arm is easing and yesterday to the music club with some Easter goodies to enjoy in the break.

Returning home, I found the recently bought and ‘lost’ black straw sun hat for my hols behind the door of the spare room. I’ve removed a print band around the rim to improve it. I’m a hat lover with too many…
Dreamt last night I was singing Carmen again, one of my past regular roles. Mixed feelings on waking up.

There is a folk club meeting tonight but I will see how I feel.
Thoughts to Blossom, hope the reunion was ok for Grandmabatty and thoughts to all🌺

GrannySomerset Wed 16-Apr-25 08:40:36

Awaiting visit from young handyman to advise on dealing with the water damaged wall in the kitchen but nothing else planned. Yesterday was busy so I really don’t mind though I must plan meals for the weekend when DD and co are coming and will expect to be fed.

A wild and wet night so I am glad the roofers have finished. Heavy rain is bashing the tulips and blossom but really it’s just normal service being resumed.

Good morning everyone from a sunny day somewhere off the western coast of Portugal. Just been for breakfast and off soon to the spa for another massage session - something I never do at home.

The weather brightened up yesterday, the sun came out and many people were out walking their mile or more around the deck - still too windy for me!

Formal night last night, a good dinner followed by an Espresso Martini at the bar, which is where glammagran found me again, and we had another nice chat.

Catching up on reading today mostly, and doing the daily puzzle page (provided by Saga).

Will also catch up on today's good morning posts, and hope all have a good day.

Marydoll Wed 16-Apr-25 08:33:49

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 7°C,

GMB, I am pleased to hear that yesterday went as well as could be expected. As you say, small steps, but seeing your son, after so long, must have lifted your spirits. 💐

Susan more positive news for you.

Yesterday was an unexpectedly joyful day. We had Dollie, but the rain and prospect of a soggy park visit was not in the least exciting! I was also anxious that we would have a poorly Babydoll, who has been sick since her birthday party on Saturday, I think the major factor is that we caught her drinking from the water feature in the garden. 😱 🤢
Fortunately her other grandparents took her.

Much to my annoyance, DH did his usual humming and hawing and didn't want to do much. I made it clear that Dollie was not going to be glued to a TV nor Nintendo all day,
and suggested an adventure to the Huntarian Museum at Glasgow University, with me driving (he dislikes driving in Glasgow), with the final leg of the journey on the Subway.
Surprisingly DH agreed, without any fuss.,

What a great day we had, full of reminiscing and laughter.
Dollie was excited but nervous and clung to us so tightly, because the platform on the Underground is extremely narrow.
DD had a job interview in town yesterday and it was playing on my mind.
We were waiting to get into the lift after what Dollie calls a safety pee, when the doors opened and there stood my daughter!!! There were squeals of delight from Dollie, for she and my daughter are very close. DD had been able to track Dollie, because she and SIL often take her out and have access to the tracker on her phone. The positive side of technology.

We had an interesting time at the museum, where kind staff spotted me struggling with the stairs and told me off for not asking for access to the accessible lift, which they activated for me.
We were buying a treat for Dollie, when I spotted a print of the very spot where DH and I had got engaged, in the park below the University, after my last exam.
The gentleman behind me in the queue joked how romantic!!
I replied that it was, but it had been downhill after that. I am available, he responded. Everyone was laughing, apart from DD, who was mortified at the banter.🤣

We had planned a snack lunch, but ended up in SIL's football club pub, where DH had a Guinness, because I was driving. A rare occurrence.
Dollie awarded me 5*** for my Trip Advisor review, so it couldn't have been too bad a day. She also insisted that DD come back with us, rather than get the train home. consequently I had two backseat drivers, advising me the whole journey home.😡
Fortunately, DIL was waiting for us when we arrived back and offered to take DD home. As predicted, after they left I fell asleep, tea in hand!!

I have a hairdresser's appointment today, which is also a social event. En route, I shall sneak in and drop off the yet again amended rotas at church. My mouth has flared up again and I really don't want to engage with anyone. I am feeling quite miserable.
My GP is useless, but I have a dental check up next week and hope my dentist will be more supportive.

I wish you all a pleasant day, busy or boring and a positive day for those, who are struggling.

Grammaretto Wed 16-Apr-25 08:32:44

I'm so pleased about the rapprochement with DS Grandmabatty. A silver lining.

GrannyIvy Wed 16-Apr-25 08:24:23

Good morning from Cambridgeshire.

We had a good day with DD2 and family at Woburn Safari park yesterday but it was so very cold. However the little ones were delighted to see so many big animals close up.

Today I’m off shopping with them the 11 year old has birthday money to spend. Then I’m hoping for two peaceful days before Easter. We have the family here Easter Saturday but otherwise a quiet one planned which suits me and DH fine.

Grandmabatty so pleased to hear all went well and you gave your mum a good send off and your ds was able to be with you.

Take care everyone and hope it is a good day for all 🌺

Sar53 Wed 16-Apr-25 08:17:17

Good morning from the Essex coast. Dry but windy today.
I've decided to go and spend Easter with DD1 and family. S is back in hospital, she was admitted on Monday night and put on a drip and heart monitor.
I think DD1 needs some support as either her or her husband stay with S all the time she is admitted.
The younger two DGD's need some TLC.
I'm going tomorrow and back on Tuesday.
Food shopping this morning so that DH doesn't starve whilst I am away.
Have a good day everyone xx

Gingster 😹

Gingster Wed 16-Apr-25 08:11:31

Good morning all and it’s breezy here in Essex.

A quiet ish day yesterday with just the delivery of the stool for the shower. I don’t think it’s going to be any good as our shower cubicle isn’t very roomy. We’ll give it a try but probably stick with putting the walking frame in and then Dh can just step in and back out.

Dd and gd came . They walked the dog, got lunch ready and sat with dh while I shopped. Lovely to have another pair (or two) of hands.

Today we have Occupational therapist and the call alarm being fitted.

Thankyou for your continued messages of support, it really does help to know people are thinking of us. ❤️

GB I’m glad your day went well yesterday . As you say ‘baby steps’ with your son. 🙏.

Sounds positive Susan 🙏.

Enjoy Lakeside GG. My DIL and gd went yesterday and said it wasn’t too busy. 🤞
You remember the old joke …
What’s Essex-girls favourite wine? (Whine)

I wanna go to ‘Laakesiiide’ 😬 😂

Take care all 🌱

glammagran Wed 16-Apr-25 08:01:37

Hello everyone from the Spirit of Discovery.

I’ve been having such trouble with the WiFi on board which has not happened to me before. I’ve twiddled with every setting known to man. I’ve switched to using Chrome now so hope that works. WhatsApp is working fine though.

It was lovely to meet BlueSaphhire on Monday night. We found plenty to talk about. It was very bumpy on Monday night and I started to feel abit panicky as a result of what happened in 2023. But it was a lot quieter in the afternoon and the sun did come out. Formal night last night. It’s a very calm sea today.

Belated birthday greetings to Grandmattie. 💐 Hope all went as well as it could for Grandmabatty yesterday.💐 I will read posts later.

The Keukenhof Gardens are absolutely fabulous Ash . We went there in Spring 2019 when my DS was then living in Den Haag.

Have a good day everyone.

Blossoming Wed 16-Apr-25 08:00:40

Good morning all from stormy Lancashire. The noise of the wind and rain woke me up a couple of times during the night, but I still slept reasonably well.

Nothing much planned for today, the District Nurse may call in, but she said she will call me beforehand.

Happy Wednesday 🌹

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 16-Apr-25 08:00:37

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 9°C with mostly cloudy skies (yes) and 11°C later. It rained here during the night. Such a change from this time last week. It looks grey and cold out.

L’il Miss is being dropped off at noon while her brother and mum go to the cinema to see a film not age appropriate for her. We will lunch inside Gregg’s (chicken goujons and potato wedges her new favourite!) then round the corner and up in the escalator to the library before a mooch round Home Bargains and Poundland to check out treasures she can buy with her pocket money (and a little financial assistance from grandma!).

No plans for us this evening so we will eat and perhaps watch a film. Himself is not yet gaining the weight he lost last week which concerns me.
