Good Morning from Durham. Barely 3 hours sleep with a recurring dream of being a serial killer!! The death toll is higher than a Midsomer Murder! I’m exhausted trying to stay one step ahead of being caught!
As I’m trying to limit using my car, DD2’s Little Dog is being dropped off today by her DH, as he’s off to New York tomorrow. Jealous? Moi?? You bet I am!
Later, my friend is picking me up for coffee. I’m so grateful that friends are doing this for me. Having them reasonably near is an important reason why I don’t want to move just yet.
I was pleased to read GB’s mum’s funeral had gone well, but such a bonus of her son in attendance. Sometimes it almost needs a traumatic incident to reunite a family?

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick, good morning followers, it’s a stormy, wet hillside here in south Glos. Despite being very deaf the winds awoke me several hours ago, it’s definitely blowing a hoolie out there 😵‍💫
Yesterday tiddler and I went to the village and had a lovely walk around woodland and along quiet lanes, in warm sunshine and the only sounds were birdsong.
DH went out for lunch with his sisters so I enjoyed a salad for lunch and sat outside on the patio, making the most of the weather.
Today I don’t have any plans except to spend some time doing drawing and playing with pastels.
I hope all’s well with you all 🌹

grandMattie Wed 16-Apr-25 05:38:14

Good morning from a wet and windy Bristol. We needed the rain, so if we are going to have “weather”, we might as well have more rain - sweet April showers and all that.
GMB, I hope all went well, susan your scan also. Hope the sale of you little mobile home goes well, Ash, ginster that your DH carries on improving. Lots of people are missed, I’m sorry, but wish you the best.
Yesterday was quiet, I was interrupted from baking by a lovely neighbour. He’s a retired architect and is quite concerned at some of the neglect on our buildings. He was writing to a manager, listing things to be done. I offered to type it out for him.
In the early evening, I had our assistant vicar to dine with me; m6 other guest had a migraine so called off. We were then joined by another lady and held our last Lent prayer meeting here rather than in church.
This morning, prayers, then FAB cafe, the rest of the day is empty.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from dark and damp Shropshire.

After a tiring day yesterday I plan a restful day today.I have my shingles jab at 9 then home to do nothing much.

A busy day for you Mick. You must be exhausted Georgesgran.

Grandmabatty I am glad that all went well yesterday and that your son felt able to attend.

Have the best day you can everyone🌻🦩

Susan56 Wed 16-Apr-25 05:44:12

Thank you grandmattie.I have to see the consultant for the scan results but the sonographer gave positive hints🙏🏻

karmalady Wed 16-Apr-25 05:49:01

Good morning from s somerset, windy and cool today

I was not expecting the strong noisy wind this morning, it woke me. I am going to look around the garden at first light, to see if any trays have been upturned

As planned, I did nothing yesterday but felt like a tired blob at the end of the day. It was not worth it, I need to be moving, getting exercise

Whatever the weather, I will be doing my exercising walk this morning, no chance of cycling in this wind. Not sure about the rest of the day but I will be doing something or other

Have a good day

Pantglas2 Wed 16-Apr-25 05:56:56

Good morning early birds from a well watered Wales! There’ll be no hosepipe bans here this summer🤣 (actually we’ve never had one!)

Hopefully Grandmabatty will be uplifted after her mum’s funeral with her son’s return 🙏 . Also 🤞Susan's scan results are ticketyboo x

I’m sure you’ll miss your holiday home Ash (as I do mi Casa) but you’ll find new places to explore with OD 🤗

We’re off to the cinema to see The Amateur after a brunch of pancakes 🥞 made with my sourdough discard - Karma will know! The film stars Rami Malek who was excellent as Freddie Mercury and my Reiki friend recommended it.

Have a good day and I’ll pop in later to read about your bizzinesses (or boringnesses 😉 - I love reading them regardless cos I’m plain 👃 nosey!)

cornergran Wed 16-Apr-25 06:02:17

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet and very windy corner of Somerset. It’s wild out there.

Howling wind and rain beating on the window woke me. Suspect the magnolia will have taken a beating, such a shame when it’s in full bloom. Will check for damage when it’s light.

Have the best day you can everyone.

karmalady Wed 16-Apr-25 06:04:59

Yes Pantglas, sourdough discard, wink wink, I know. smile Waste not want not, I used to make pancakes too

Bellasnana Wed 16-Apr-25 06:14:22

Good morning from a very gloomy-looking Malta where the Saharan sand is making it very hazy. The high today is forecast to be 24°C.

Yesterday I went to see the boys who were happy to see me. They had lots to tell me about their trip but seemed happy to be home. They take it all in their stride at that age.

Unfortunately, I’ve just had a message from DD3 to say littlest is running a fever and hinting for me to go over so she can go to her hair appointment at 8am. I’m afraid I declined as I’ve just woken up and am not ready to spring into action.

I cleaned my car yesterday, just a quick €2 worth in the do it yourself car wash. I suspect it will already be covered in sand due to this weather.

I’m meeting a friend this afternoon which will be nice as long as it’s not raining.

There’s also tennis to watch from Barcelona, I saw a few matches yesterday. I know they earn a lot of money but the schedule seems relentless.

Hoping for a good day for all.☀️

Ashcombe Wed 16-Apr-25 06:21:28

Good morning from a dull Torbay.

Last night we had just nodded off to sleep when we were awoken by a thunderstorm! Heavy rain, several flashes of lightning and loud claps of thunder lasted over half an hour! This was completely unexpected as we hadn’t had a warm day but a rather showery one.

The supportive comments about selling my holiday home are appreciated. It is something I had come to terms with last Autumn, due to increasing costs and my decreasing mobility.

Thinking of Grandmabatty, Susan56 and Gingster and her DH.

Happy hump day! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 16-Apr-25 06:42:53

Morning all from a wild and wooly West Oxfordshire.

I had a quiet day yesterday. Mainly relaxing on the sofa with the cats. I perked up by the evening and cooked salmon for dinner.

Today it is the monthly U3A lunch. We are meeting in a nearby village pub where the landlord and his wife used to run my favourite Sunday lunch venue in another nearby village!

Tonight it is the WI where the speaker will talk about how to avoid being scammed. This will be my first meeting where I won’t be sitting on the officer’s table!

Have a good day everyone.

Grammaretto Wed 16-Apr-25 06:50:44

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
My friend's funeral today and there's weather to match. 😓

I hope Grandmabatty survived her emotional day.

My car is still at the garage, my Aussie helpers stayed one more day and did lots of cooking and cleaning so I won't need to prepare for my visitor
this afternoon. There's enough veggie Shepherd's Pie and chocolate brownies to feed an army.

I had a good video call with a planning consultant who will help me navigate the system for my attempts to build a house for myself in my garden.

Glad to hear Susan you have been reassured after your scan.

Hoping everyone here is coping with whatever they have to deal with today.

Greyduster Wed 16-Apr-25 06:58:23

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s very gloomy here in South Yorkshire and while it’s not raining yet, it won’t be long. Yesterday, after my stint at school, I set about going over my delphiniums, hand picking with tweezers some nasty grubs they are infested with and then spraying them. I’m not sure I’ve got them all now. They seem to have attacked the growing points so who knows whether they’ll flower this year. They are one of the glories of my garden (it doesn’t have many!).
Writers group - a librarian led session - this afternoon.
Have the best day you can folks.

Kalu Wed 16-Apr-25 07:07:20

Good morning all. Grey skies at the moment in Glasgow but it is supposed to brighten up later.

From a grey start to a beautiful sunny day yesterday which I spent mostly outdoors which was fortuitous as I have begun switching winter clothes to spring/summer. Being such a lovely sunny day two washings were hung out and dried, lighter clothing ready to don soonish I hope.

Dental scan early afternoon then lunch at DD1s with both GDs who are off for the holidays. I will stop and buy her some flowers en route.

Hopefully all went smoothly as possible for you yesterday Gbatty.
Sounding positive re you scan susan. 🤞
Thoughts with Gingster and her DH.

Have the best day possible all and supportive thoughts to those with troubling times.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 16-Apr-25 07:13:17

Morning everyone, no idea what the weather is like as I am hunkered down in the bedroom trying to be as quiet as possible so that I do not wake up the GC.

I need to go to Lakeside first thing to buy a couple of gifts, then it’s the gym afterwards I really need to get cracking on packing for Easter and my trip to Spain.

Have a good day 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Wed 16-Apr-25 07:16:48

Good morning everyone from a breezy and mild mid Essex.
Yesterday I drove into town, walked to one of the shopping malls and bought a new pair of trainers. Then bought some more chocolate Easter treats for the grandchildren, collected my watch from the jewellers and came home. I was a bit achy afterwards, but am trying to increase the distances I walk, although I still need the rollator.
Today I have a physio appointment at the local surgery so will walk there using the walking sticks. Then DD1 will drop the dog off for me to look after while they go shopping at a nearby outlet village. They’re out all day tomorrow too, so I’ll go over to keep the dog company in the morning. I have a hair appointment in the afternoon so can’t stay with the dog all day.

I have a food delivery this afternoon and must tidy the kitchen in readiness for the hairdresser tomorrow.
ash I’m sure you’ll miss your holiday home. On sunny summer days I still miss our touring caravan, on rainy days I don’t miss it at all. I think for every warm sunny holiday we had, we probably had two or three indifferent ones!

Best wishes to those having medical appointments today.
Have the best day possible everyone.

ginny Wed 16-Apr-25 07:25:04

Good morning from the Isle of Man where it is breezy and dull
Never mind we are on our hols. with friends and other travellers. After a long journey were greeted with a very tasty dinner.
We are off on the Snaefell mountain railway to Laxley Wheel this morning and will see what else the day brings.
A good day wished for all.

Grandmabatty Wed 16-Apr-25 07:28:46

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° with dark, foreboding clouds above. Ash I love thunder and lightning! Grammaretto were those the last helpers you will have? I would imagine where you live is very popular during Edinburgh Festival time. Susan it was very remiss of me not to ask about your scan. Hopefully the doctor will confirm the good hints.
Mum's funeral was ok. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and words. It was a private, small affair, according to her wishes. She is buried along with dad's ashes beneath a tree. The birds were singing lustily. My son came and was supportive, helping me to the graveside (I have bad feet) and he came to the hotel too for afternoon tea in honour of mum. She loved afternoon tea. She would not have been pleased at the lack of tablecloth though! He bought everyone a drink to toast mum. My uncle completely forgot he told me he was paying for the food! His memory is a bit dodgy after the stroke he had last year in Spain. However my Dsil quietly paid it. My brother was useless. He has made an appointment to see the lawyer regarding mum's will and it's on a day I look after the boys. No attempt to check if it was suitable. We are joint executors and both need to be there. Dealing with him continues to be a challenge.
Today I'm doing very little. I will head to Aldi at some point as I'm having the boys tomorrow and I'm not sure I gave enough food in. My son has agreed to come for Easter Sunday lunch and I'm really glad about that. I have missed him terribly. Small steps though. Have a good day all

harrigran Wed 16-Apr-25 07:31:10

Good morning from a grey and rainy NE.
I think it will be a bit cooler today.
GP appointment went well yesterday, I was in and out before my appointment time.
Called at the supermarket on the way home and got a refund of large amount of money they took out of my account twice. Luckily I always keep my receipts and had a printed bank statement too.
Quiet day today as I am waiting for a phone call to arrange a medical appointment.
DD is travelling to the UK so I will get to see her tomorrow, she will be working from my home while SIL and I do the shopping.
Best wishes to poorly people and carers.

EkwaNimitee Wed 16-Apr-25 07:36:51

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle. It's a grim, grey, wet and windy day here.
Yesterday was damp, the rain having happened overnight. I went into town where it was quite busy, quite a few families out as it's the school holidays of course. I went on my planned visit to the rag rug artist exhibition featuring the work and designs of one Winifred Nicholson, whom I'd never heard of but who was apparently pretty well-known. Some works I liked, some I wasn't keen on. She also painted, but really, I've seen better by amateurs, though have to admit I'm a bit of an art ignoramus! And prefer watercolours.
After that, I treated myself to chocolate from the chocolate emporium, my excuse being that it's Easter...
Home to finish the last of the trilogy I've been ploughing through, now it's off to the charity shop with it. I don't suppose I'll want to ever read it a third time, good as it is. If I do, it will be better on my Kindle, the small print in my older books is increasingly trying in spite of my glasses.
Today, finish off some chores and get some indoor exercise, I doubt I'll be going out for a walk.

Have a good day if you can possibly do so.

luluaugust Wed 16-Apr-25 07:38:09

Good morning from a bright and breezy W Kent. Off to my U3A art group this morning, they are a friendly group. This afternoon I am visiting a friend for tea, it’s all of nothing happening at present.
Enjoy your holiday Ginny I have very happy memories of the Isle of Man
Best wishes to all

brook2704 Wed 16-Apr-25 07:47:17

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and cool Inverness
Sounds early positive news about your scan Susan hoping all is well
We’ve nothing much planned yet today but lots to keep us busy, will see what we feel like later
Well done with the walking redcar, hope the physio helps too
Enjoy your holidays and the railway trip ginny and everyone else out and about today
grandmabatty❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Liberty Wed 16-Apr-25 07:58:11

Good morning from a dull but brightening day where everything is looking very fresh and green after yesterday’s heavy but not very long lasting rain. Several patches of cowslips are emerging in the grass, one of my favourite wild flowers so very pleased to see them.

Off to my keep fit class a bit later and then some shopping before returning home for some essential admin jobs. We heard yesterday that DGS3,aged 11’ had been knocked off his bike by a car coming out of a drive without looking. Although shocked and frightened neither he nor the bike were damaged although DiL took him to A&E as he said he had a headache. After a 3 hour wait,he was declared fit and well.

He now knows the importance of always wearing his helmet which, occasionally in the past,he has slipped out of the house without it.’ Never again granny, will I do that’ his sensible comment now.

Thinking of those with worries and ill health of themselves or others to cope with.
