Good morning from a dull Suffolk after a lovely sunny day yesterday. Not a drop of rain here and none forecast. I had to water the pots in the back yard as,once again, they were so dry and the roses in some of them were beginning to look a bit droopy.

I need to finish off the simnel cake later. DD2 sent a photo of hers yesterday, made and decorated by 8 year old DGD5. It’s a triumph.

There was no service in the church at the end of our garden but I popped in yesterday and met someone from the village who had brought beautiful flowers for Easter Day. She was leaving them in the vestry until tomorrow as the altar had been stripped and all decorations removed.

Hope all have the best day possible.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on another dont know what morning with patches of blue sky and grey clouds, and cant tell which way it is going to go wet or fine. We have had heavy showers forecasted and it looks as though that will be about right.

At last this morning a few leaves showing on the tree so am pleased as I was beginning to worry if it might have died. Managed to get up and sorted with a bit less hassle today. The squirrel has been rushing about in the tree and the birds are again inspecting various branches. I am shortly going out to get a couple of bits from the market and buy the Yorkshire Post , but in particular to see if there is anything special going on today. Am meeting a friend who lives near durham, and is moving shortly, so we are hoping to have a pleasant day together. We shall enjoy each others company whatever the weather but it would be good to have some sunshine.

Yesterday I went to my meeting and tried to sort some paperwork out in the afternoon. Pleased to see cream flowers coming out in a hyacinth I bought to cheer the place up and have a lovely perfume. Some sorting of the kitchen surfaces and cupboards revealed a small dried mint sauce container that had been behind other taller jars etc. Shows how much I check carefully, but it did remind me that I had a lamb steak, that I had bought in the reduced box and so had a very enjoyable - to me very spring meal - lamb with mint sauce of course and new potatoes and peas. Very good and not a lot of standing to cook it. It does seem ironical that we are surrounded by lambs and sheep everywhere we look , and yet at the moment the price is so high I rarely buy any.

Havent got any plans in particular for the next couple of days, and now I am retired I tend to keep out of the crowds on holiday times as I can visit places in quieter times, which I prefer. So if I am up to it, when I get back this afternoon I might at last get a bit of weeding done, but will just wait and see how the day goes.

from the posts it looks as though there are quite a lot of people who will be glad of a quiet day or two. Wishing you all a good day and some peace and quiet to enjoy the moment

Good morning everyone. I'm being an early bird at the moment and my body seems to approve of that as a summer routine.
Karma your wander through the old part of town sounds idyllic - like stepping back in time. I can imagine the 'Hovis boy' on his bike clattering over the cobbles on his way to deliver some freshly baked bread!
I too had a lovely day yesterday, but nothing like that. I met my niece for a quick coffee and chat before getting my hair cut. The hair cut was exactly to my liking - a 'Sheila Hancock' at the moment, which I'm hoping will morph into a 'Camilla' as it grows. (Can't stand Camilla, but I do like her hair 😉). Then I met my niece again afterwards and we both 'did' Next and M&S. We're comparatively close in age, and getting closer as she gets older (and I don't of course 😉) and there's often reminiscences of when she was little and I was late teens. Yesterday she was remembering dancing to Greig's Peer Gynt Suite. Greig would be disappointed to know that when it came to the Hall of the Mountain King she and her little brother were "hanging out the washing and then it rained and we had to rush and get it all back in again"!
A quiet and mundane weekend ahead for me - my socialising was last week when DD and New Man were up in Scotland - but there will no doubt be flurries of WhatsApp conversations.
Have a lovely Easter Weekend everyone.

Good morning everybody from sunny and windy Lancashire.

I am feeling better every day now I’m home. I need to start building up my muscles again so am starting some gentle regular exercises. My legs are feeling stronger and I am finding standing up easier. My arms are responding well to stretching but I need some small weights to help with strength.

Enjoy your weekend, hope you have as good a day as possible whatever you’re doing today. Sending love to those going through difficult times. ♥️🌹

Good Morning from Durham. Grey and gloomy again.
After DGS2’s first ever sleepover here, it was a manic morning yesterday, as DD1 and DGS1 arrived to exchange Easter goodies. They stayed a couple of hours and the house remained a tip, until after DD2 decided to take DGS2 home last evening, as they’re off to a soft play session nearer them today. Later, she’s going to meet a friend for dinner and I’ll have DGS2 to entertain and put to bed. Her dog is still here of course for another week. I’m hoping to be mobile from today, if DD1 drops off her car for me. I’ve fully insured it for my use - not cheap!
After 4 loo visits through the night, I’m going to drop my bedtime cuppa - I don’t feel rested at all.

Hope Marydoll is alright and .Gingster’s DH continues to improve - we were told it could take up to 4 years for things to repair (if they could, of course).

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from a dull Black country more rain was had overnight.
Haven't read through yet as I'm late up and being Saturday usual full English calling.
Not a lot planned for today, the ironing is staring at me but think I will ignore it nothing that is needed in there.
Over to our friends this evening for a few hours.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.

Grammaretto if you come across a gold wedding ring give me a shout. I lost my original one on Gullane beach many years ago. You never know grin.

baubles Sat 19-Apr-25 08:32:24

Good to hear that your recovery is going well Blossoming.

Kalu Sat 19-Apr-25 08:33:26

I so enjoyed sharing your lovely day yesterday Karma. An uplifting read. Your mention of hollyhocks, one of my favourites, reminds me of many visits to Île de Rey where hollyhocks of every colour grew in abundance outside cottages, almost weed like in habit. Such an easy flower to grow here in Scotland in my own garden.

Grammaretto Sat 19-Apr-25 08:35:20

Baubles will do! That must have been awful at the time.

I'd love to see your simnel cake(s) Liberty

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 19-Apr-25 08:37:27

One of the nice things I enjoy about reading all your posts is looking up on Google points of interest, such as the flowers you tend, the places you mention etc.

This, for example is Gullane beach. I tired enlarginggthe pic baubles but sadly I was unable to spot your wedding ring….

Grammaretto Sat 19-Apr-25 08:43:48

We're going at low tide so you never know baubles lurking in a rock pool...

Is it Penzance, I wonder, Karmalady? . We were there on our honeymoon and again 50years later. Almost our last holiday before he died. We stayed at the Egyptian House.

Liberty Sat 19-Apr-25 09:03:13

Granmaretto…I’ll try and post photos tomorrow of the simnel cakes. DD sent hers on the family WharsApp and I’m not techie enough to separate photo from text. I’ll ask her just to send a photo and,if mine is worthy of a photo,I’ll include that.

I found I only had 3 eggs rather than the 4 the recipe required so I made 3/4 of it and could only find a too big tin…. So not the best start. Hopefully it will taste ok irrespective of how it looks!

Good morning from N Bucks where it is brightening up nicely after rain in the night.
Euros this morning and a couple of “bits” then the podiatrist and also Rosie to kennels. I’m trying hard to stay 😎 cool, but am getting rather excited!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

harrigran Sat 19-Apr-25 09:11:40

Good morning from a cool and overcast NE, yet again.
Yesterday was a day spent wrapped in a blanket on the sofa, quite unwell with joint pains and upset stomach.
I have a sore arm where I had my vaccination so can't lie on my left side.
No visitors today as family are off to stay with other GPs for a week.
Happy Easter everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 19-Apr-25 09:13:11

Concerning again not to hear from Marydoll?

Jaxjacky Sat 19-Apr-25 09:21:29

Morning from a soggy S Hants, I’m not minding the rain, it was badly needed.
Our friend had an overnight in hospital and is now home, not sure what the issue was ‘vitamins’ according to him? I was relieved.
Grandson has D&V, soon to be daughter in law has a muscle in spasm, so todays planned Chinese meal here is off, the defrosting duck will do us tomorrow.
Sallyforth if you download the Merlin app it should identify your birds.
A proper plant nursery Gingster how lovely, rare beasties now.
I’ve got to sort out a slow puncture on my car, I’ve a feeling in our wasteful society it’ll be a new tyre; paper to read and sport to watch on this April day.

Good morning from a soggy Co Armagh

Candle will be lit

hollysteers Sat 19-Apr-25 09:42:31

Good morning from a dull northwest coast sandhills.
My cat has had me up and down in the night. Sometimes wish she could talk (only sometimes) as I’m not a mind reader.

Just a quiet day yesterday, housework, washing, but a FaceTime with flying DD in the south back from LA and two Easter eggs arrived.

Tonight out into the city with long-standing soprano friend, meeting early for a meal and she doesn’t want a late night which stands well with me these days.
Glad you are making good progress Blossoming and thoughts to all🌺

GrannySomerset Sat 19-Apr-25 09:56:10

Have been for covid jab (very efficient and I knew everyone in the queue), second load of washing in machine and it isn’t even 10.00 am! Who knew I could still be so efficient?

Family arriving later so must finish preparations as beady eyed GD will notice if standards are slipping and say so. I too am concerned that we haven’t heard from Marydoll and am hoping for the best.

Crossstitchfan Sat 19-Apr-25 09:58:47

Lazy day for me today after a couple of busy ones. Had dinner with daughter no 2 and family on Thursday and was out yesterday too. All my family (except me) are great cooks. We had roast lamb which was a real treat for all of us as we haven’t had lamb for ages. Daughter no 1 was invited too as her husband is away this week. It was a lovely evening, and when daughter no 1 went home, I went with her so I could keep her company when she walked her adorable rescue dog. We had a really enjoyable walk around the town in the dark. Particularly nice for me as, living alone since my husband died, I don’t go out for walks at night on my own, and I used to love our night walks along the seafront.
Today, I am having my breakfast and looking out over the harbour, where there is a cruise ship waiting for its passengers to board. It will leave later this afternoon. I’ll look up where they are going later. From now on, there will be a cruise ship in almost every day, increasing as the Summer unfolds.
My pregnant granddaughter’s baby is due today! We are all finding it hard to settle until she has him. Her husband is quite apprehensive and told me it doesn’t help at all that he is a paramedic!
Healthwise, my hormone injections are still keeping me alive. I have them monthly. I just hope they keep working as I have no other fallback option. What with cancer, diabetes and a slight heart inefficiency, I marvel at the fact I’m still breathing! Luckily, and surprisingly, I feel quite well, which is quite a feat even when well, if you are coming up to your 80th birthday!
Have a lovely day everyone. Hope the sun shines for you. It is for me!

Redcar Sat 19-Apr-25 10:11:46

crossstitchfan the wonders of modern medicine! So good that your monthly injections are keeping you going! I envy your view of the harbour with all its comings and goings.
Another one who is concerned about marydoll. Hope all is well with her and her family.

Ziplok Sat 19-Apr-25 10:34:42

Good morning.

Dry but cloudy and breezy here today. It is trying to brighten up a bit though. Not sure what is on the agenda today, but won’t be going far. We never travel away anywhere at bank holiday times, too much traffic.

I hope all who are feeling unwell or under the weather soon feel an improvement 💐.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 19-Apr-25 10:42:56

Happy Easter to you CrossStitch 🤞 those injections work their magic for a long time to come. Where do you live please? Must be wonderful living by the sea.

sazz1 Sat 19-Apr-25 12:22:52

Morning from Devon and it's quite cold but not raining yet. I'm sat here wondering where to start as son daughter and granddaughter have just left. My washing basket is overflowing with bath towels, bedding etc, house needs dusting and vacuuming.
Onwards and upwards I'll start in a bit ....
