What's Your Favourite Music ?

I enjoy all kinds of Music but my favorite is classic rock. I especially love Yes, Genesis, Crosby-Stills-Nash & Young, Santana, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Traffic, Grateful Dead, Phish and Billy Strings. Anyone else ever heard of Billy Strings? He is a Blugrass Guitar Virtuoso. Google him, you won't be sorry. I am one of the Grandma's who lives 4,500+ miles away from my Grandson and Music is my #1 coping skill for grief.

I have quite a variation with regard to music. I like the Big Band sound like Glen Miller, then there is Billie Holiday. Love the Beach Boy, Brian Wilson was an amazing musician and songwriter but my main love is Rhythm & Blues, Motown etc some incredible artists from that genre. Oh mustn’t forget Gerry Lee Lewis. Was fortunate to see him along with Chuck Berry and Little Richard at Wembley Arena some 25 years ago to celebrate husbands 50th birth.

I love Blues, too - and have just discovered a brilliant group called Gov't Mule. Love it.

I love opera, especially Wagner, but embrace a wide range of music. Queen and Pet Shop Boys and music that belongs to different stages in life. All very varied.

I intend to watch the Gareth Malone Messiah programme, but one choral piece that sends me into raptures is a video recording of Paul McCreesh and the Gabrielli Consort rehearsing a huge choir of children and adult singers Fromm all over the country in Parry’s “I Was Glad”. It took place in Ely Cathedral and it absolutely blew my socks off! It’s probably still on YouTube.

I think you’ll enjoy the Gareth Malone concert.
It’s done over three programmes where he’s training them for the first two and finally the concert is the last programme.

You’ll need tissues as it’s poignant in parts but it’s such a good feeling when everything comes together in the end.

It’s an amazing concert I really enjoyed it.

We saw them last year. Loved them as we knew Maddy from local folk clubs.
Just as enthusiastic , but getting on now and her voice has changed. Enjobyed the evening but saddened

We are going to see Steeleye Span in May. Remember them?

I was a huge fan, I used to sing in a folk group and we covered many of their songs I just wished I'd been as good as Maddie! I still love the folk music of the 70's and earlier. Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, June Tabor, Carole King etc were the backdrop to my younger life and I still listen to them. However, my actual taste in music is very eclectic, pretty much anything except Jazz. I went to a lunchtime concert recently at Birmingham uni and listened to a recital by The Queen's Six ( group made up from the chorister's at Windsor Castle). They performed A Capella, beginning with a madrigal and finishing with Video killed the radio star! Totally brilliant with such an unusual choice of music but all arranged beautifully and great fun! I've also been to ABBA Voyage and enjoyed every minute!

Mostly Status Quo. Also Thunder, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Muse, Disturbed, Korn & loads more depending on my mood!

Only me with rock? Muse, Green Day, Imagine Dragons... something with bass, guitars, drums, noise!! Also Meatloaf . and stuff with words - Post Malone, Hozier. Miley Cyrus.. Also enjoy hearing new stuff - although Radio 1 sounds very familiar a lot of the time. Not just fashion going full circle!

Oh yes CountessFosco. The great Tom Lehrer. So many wonderful, if at times gruesome! Beatles, Queen and Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff too for me.
