I love music but my favourite is Country., eg Gene Watson,Rhonda Vincent, Alan Jackson and Brookes & Dunn.
I love to hear the Steel Guitar.

What do you like .?

I love many kinds of music ranging from Portuguese Fado to folk music and much classical music, but if I could only have one composer it would have to be J S Bach, no question. But oh I would miss Mozart and Brittain and many others. I would NOT miss madrigals at all. Have sung all my life, and originally madrigals were interesting and told stories etc but the victorians bowdlerised them and they are now filled with boring Tra la la's which you also have to count or you may show yourself up when you sing one extra one at the end of a boring chorus!Dont mind the occasional tra la la's in G@S, which is another matter. Oh dear, it is like being a child in a sweetie shop trying to choose. How would I choose the artist too? must have Callas and Paul Robeson and those wonderful russian basses. Those crunchy bulgarian folk singers and Dolly Parton. Oh dear will have to stop!

Definitely pop of all kinds, lifts my spirits on a bad day and gets me humming or singing along on a good day.
I like jazz as a background music in a bar or restaurant.
I like some classical music when sitting relaxing.

C&W..and the 60's music, I love Ricky Van Shelton.

Why confine myself to one kind of music- there is good music in all kinds.

I listen to anything from classical to pop and all music inbetween.

It is the universal and timeless language we can all share.

I love many different types of music, traditional folk, Celtic, music from the 1960's the Beatles, Rolling stones. My favourite group of all time are Queen. I also adore Classical music, Opera and Ballet. As keepingquiet says no need to confine ourselves to one kind of music when there are so many to enjoy!

Vivaldi, Corelli, Bach, {family}, Wagner, Carl Orff..... but also Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Becaud et al, and even Tom Lehrer's The Elements [anyone know this masterpiece]?

I love all kinds of music but I’m not keen on Country & Western.
Classical, especially choral, will always be top of the list though.

kittylester Sun 20-Apr-25 17:16:44

I love all types of popular music. Not so keen on Jazz or Classical. It's the words that draw me in so I particularly love country music, soul, and lots of more up to date stuff.

DH doesn't listen to the words at all and is a real jazz buff - his current favourites are people like The Ezra Collective.

Anything with a deep bass usually

I love many genres, so my taste is very eclectic. I would be hard pressed to say which I favoured.
It depends to some extent on what mood I’m in as to which music I listen to at any given time.
I do not have a preferred type. What I really dislike though is barber quartet music (which you don’t hear a lot of, I admit), and some of the punk “music” (though it depends what it is - I never, ever liked the noise sounds Sid Vicious made, but can tolerate Madness, for example).
Even within given genres, there is some music I love and other music I find unpleasant to listen to.

Classical is my favourite but I have a very long list of favourite composers. Handel, Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Brahms, Bruch, Elgar and Ravel are particular favourites but I like many others, too. I enjoy hymns and choruses at church and traditional British folk songs. The pop music l like is of the gentler, tuneful variety with ABBA and Blondie being all-time favourites. I like Billy Joel and Rick Wakeman. Again, the list is far from exhaustive. One other genre of which I am very fond is light/film music. I like the British composers of this style but, in my opinion, the American composer Leroy Anderson was the best of all.

My musical tastes are quite eclectic, but my music collection mainly consists of punk, indie, emo, rock and some metal.

Imarocker Sun 20-Apr-25 17:59:48

Bruce Springsteen, Bach and Ella Fitzgerald are my favourites.

lizzyb Sun 20-Apr-25 18:04:03

Northern Soul!

joannapiano Sun 20-Apr-25 18:15:17

George Michael and Beethoven.

Frenchgalinspain Sun 20-Apr-25 18:16:54

Depends where we are or where I am.

Grand fan of The Gypsy Kings / Celine Dion / Barbara Streisand / The music from The Phantom of the Opera, Michael Jackson, Barry White, Donna Summer, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, The 4 Tops, amongst many others especially from the 1960s / 1970s / 1980s ..

Greyduster Sun 20-Apr-25 19:58:15

Classical is my go to; an endless list headed by the three B’s - Bach, Brahms, Borodin - but I love the English composers - Vaughan Williams, Holst, Elgar, Britten, Malcolm Arnold, and female composers like Doreen Carwithen and Ethel Smyth. I also like 1940s and 50s Big band swing music, and the likes of Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Hammerstein and Jerome Kern. Anything by Johns Williams and John Barry. Pop left me behind with Fleetwood Mac!

Greyduster Sun 20-Apr-25 20:01:50

Oh and how could you leave out Eric Coates from a list of British composers. Unforgettable tunes.

NotAGran55 Sun 20-Apr-25 20:45:38

As long as the Fender Stratocaster or Gibson Les Paul are featured I’m happy. Hendrix, Beck, Guy, Gilmour, Moore, Page, Townsend, Bonamassa, Green, Cray, Townsend,Knopfler, my son, and Clapton all make my heart sing 🎸

merlotgran Sun 20-Apr-25 21:18:54

Composers of so called Light Music were in a class of their own:
Eric Coates, Ronald Binge and Trevor Duncan, to name but a few.

I'm anything from Mozart to Iron Maiden and Guns and Roses - actually nothing much more recent than Guns and Roses.

I do. I like Tom Lehrer, very clever. I’m mostly a classical music lover, though, with Mozart, Bach, Mahler, Schubert, Britten particular favourites. I’ve sung music by all of them. Britten wrote superb vocal music, like Rejoice in the Lamb (love the section about the cat) and of course the great War Requirm.

I like all kinds of music. Favourites are Queen, ELO, Abba, Neil Diamond, and too many others to name. And some classical, opera, choral music.
Nothing beats good old rock and roll though.
