Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey slightly windy morning in North Yorkshire. There has obviously been a bit of rain in the night, but not enough to give the gardens the soaking they need.

Yesterday was a most frustrating day. Havent got a printer here at the moment and also needed some help if I needed to add a photo to the disabled railcard online. Well wont bore you with the details but after a faff about going to upfront, for help with my techie expert, overall after about an hour of hassle we still didnt get it sorted, nor the wretched fault on here which of course when I wanted it to appear so he could sort it would not go wrong! A total waste of the morning, feeling frustrated and so forth. Went to collect my prescription and had to wait for ages as they had some problem with one of the things. Well the day continued in a not good mode but was cheered up by going to play the board games which allowed my brain to think of something more interesting and meet a few people.

So the weather is chilly and they promise more showers (hope they will at least be heavy enough to do some good) . I am yet again struggling to get around, and am fed up at the moment with no plan of action for the day or any great desire to either tackle some job or go off anywhere. So I am now planning not to have a plan and see where the day takes me.!! ~At least I have the whist drive to look forward to this evening.
grandMattie you put me to shame with all the things you manage to get through. I used to be the baker for many different things, but not these days. The remembered one was when my son told me he had promised I would make a cake for school and when I asked him when for he said today!! I had to make a swift ginger parkin in a big roasting tin and take it to school in the tin as it was too hot to cut up. Thus convincing other mothers at the school gates that I obviously was quite barmy!
Ashcombe Hope all goes well with your holiday and you enjoy the gardens
Sar Do hope you get a doctors appointment today and they can help you with antibiotics or whatever.

Well just cheered by watching the squirrel go leaping up the tree, and to say happy St Georges day to myself shall award myself a large coffee and then I think I shall find something that needs tearing up, or perhaps go outside if it stays dry , with my secateurs and do a bit of snipping. On a day like this I used to enjoy making my own bread. The more you bashed it the better it became and it was a great way to relieve feelings. Well the only way is up now
Hope everyone has a day that improves as it goes along

Good morning from a wet W Kent where I shall spend the day packing and tidying to get away tomorrow
DGS3 has an important University tennis match today so we are all crossing our fingers for him.
Happy travels Ash
Hope the eye problems improve
Best wishes

We now have beautiful sunshine! I’m looking at the azalea basking in it while I drink my TIB. 16°C is forecast.

Happy cruising tomorrow Ashcombe! What a long journey from Torquay for olddudders yesterday to buy tickets!

Another here hoping Gingster’s husband is much better and able to come home soon.

Liberty Wed 23-Apr-25 07:49:45

Good morning from a dull but dry Suffolk with no obvious rain overnight.

We had a letter, and the same one hand delivered yesterday, that the power will be off from 9-3pm today because of work on the lines in our immediate area. I should be attending my virtual monthly panel but have had to pull out.

Off to keep fit and then picking up a friend and going out for lunch….tothe little cafe Gingster where we last met. My friend normally picks me up but is unable to drive at the moment so I’m pleased to be able to return the favour.

Hoping to hear that MrG is on the mend and others who are unwell are feeling better.

NannyJan53 Wed 23-Apr-25 07:51:40

Good morning from a dull and damp Black Country where it rained overnight.

Dental appointment today for the 6 monthly check up. Seems to come round faster each time! So I will walk round via town, it is only 25 mins walk.

Collected a dress I ordered from Next yesterday, so will try on this morning after my shower, then may have to go back if it doesn't fit or look good.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Gingster Wed 23-Apr-25 08:02:13

Good morning all and thanks so much for your continued kind regards and support. It’s really lovely if you all. 🙏.

Dh is now on a ward and feeling more comfortable but they’re concerned about his prostate and I’ll find out more news this morning when Dd and I will catch the bus to the hospital. We’ve had lots of offers for lifts but quite honestly the bus is easy, door to door , no worry about parking and doesn’t cost me anything.

I was so tired yesterday when I got home and fell into a deep sleep for an hour in the warm conservatory. Woke up very muzzy headed but I slept well last night. 😴😴.

Happy St George’s Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Happy holidays to Ash, GG

I hope your eye get sorted Sar

Take care all 🌱

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

I hope your DH is feeling more comfortable, Gingster,

Yesterday's visit to Silverburn was not the best of experiences.
I had planned a quick trip to the M&S food hall and Tesco and then home.
Oh how wrong I was!

In M&S, I couldn't get the self scan to work. I don't know how many times I tried, until I saw a message saying it wasn't working! I have really lost the pot.
I was so excited to find a few yellow stickers and for once I had space in the garage freezer, only because someone had left the door open. 😡
Just as I made my way to the checkout, the fire alarm went off and we were evacuated! Thank goodness it was dry, for we were outside for ages and my car was in the multi story car park.
I wasn't duly concerned about the fire alarm, more about someone snatching my bargains from my abandoned trolley! 🤣
Eventually we were allowed back in and just as I went to pay, the tills went down.😭 I knew I should have stayed at home.
SIL messaged me later to say that there had been a cyber attack on M&S.

So unlike me, I did not visit any other shops, just wanted to get to Tesco and then home.
However, Tesco was next door to TKMaxx and your fault Kalu for mentioning it , I popped in.
Sitting, begging me to buy it was a beautiful turquoise ceramic pot, very similar to the one I paid a king's ransom for, to house the agapanthus purloined from DD's garden.
It was £24, but I know they are around £80 in our local nursery.
I also knew that there was no way, I could carry it. 😒
However, I did have a cunning plan. 😉
I went to Tesco, did a small shop with a large trolley and headed back to TKMaxx where I got assistence to put the pot in the trolley.
On reaching the checkout, I realised that I couldn't lift the pot. The poor assistant had to come rom behind the checkout, fight her way through the queue and lift it onto the counter. Result!! There was no way, I was giving up!
I got home, emptied the bags and promptly fell asleep! I felt awful.

This morning, I have the dentist, hoping she will be more helpul than my GP, who has abandoned me..
I am still losing weight, because it is too painful to eat and I have lost my sense of taste.
Bumping into a close friend, I haven't seen for ages, she told me off for being on a diet and losing so much weight! If only that was the reason.

Bon voyage to all the travellers and prayers for all, who are struggling. Sally, hoping you are feeling better and Sar, please see doctor.
Why, why, why is this your hospital day, good luck.

Gingster Wed 23-Apr-25 08:04:42

Liberty enjoy your Snug lunch. I’ll be thinking of you there.

grandMattie Wed 23-Apr-25 08:10:07

Don’t worry, Rosesandlilac, your bloodshot eye is probably a “sub-conjunctival haemorrhage”
I had one recently and the eye people were not bothered. It’s spontaneous and goes fairly quickly.

whywhywhy Wed 23-Apr-25 08:11:07

Good morning from a grey and damp midlands.
Back to the hospital today for more test to get to the bottom of these headaches, where will it end? Fedup.
Hugs to all who are suffering today in some form or another.

GrannySomerset Wed 23-Apr-25 08:12:53

A day full of (expensive) workmen - oven cleaning, plumber and man to check the work done on insulating the loft - so had best get on. Hope things go well for FGT and that Marydoll has a better day.

cornergran Wed 23-Apr-25 08:13:16

Morning Mick, morning All. Weather-wise our corner of Somerset is undecided. A bit of blue, a lot of cloud and chilly.

Friends coming for coffee this morning when the world will be put to rights, not sure about after lunch, a lot of things I should be doing. Will I? Doubt it!

Smooth travels and calm seas to all on the move. Have the best day you can everyone.

whywhywhy Wed 23-Apr-25 08:13:32

Thanks Marydoll
No doubt a few hours will be spent in the hospital and I feel so low in mood as it is.
At least my youngest son is here on Friday night. Something to look forward to. Hugs. 🤗

I had one recently and the eye people were not bothered. It’s spontaneous and goes fairly quickly.

This happened to me and my optometrist DIL sent me straight to the opticians, just in case it was something more serious, due to my extremely high BP and heart problems.

Jaxjacky Wed 23-Apr-25 08:57:59

Morning, we had some sun, now cloud and according to MrJ heavy rain overnight here in S Hants.
I love how your world has opened up again Ashcombe, enjoy your cruise.
Beautiful FGT very vibrant.
My daughter inevitably got the D&V yesterday, granddaughter now tentatively eating, we bought grandson home and fed him, returned later.
Son’s fiancée awaiting a scan for kidney/gall stones, she’s in a lot of pain.
I’ll get my new tyre today, I’ve plants to put in, if it stops raining and some online admin.
Happy travels and to those away and best wishes to those poorly

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's cloudy and dull.

St George's mushrooms can be found growing in the new grass at this time of year. They are delicious.

Do you celebrate St George in Malta Bellasnanna?.

Yarn group this morning, community lunch and an AGM tonight. I can't believe a whole week has gone since my friend's funeral. I miss her so much.

I hope your health is stable Mick.
I hope Mr Gingster is better and coming home soon.
Enjoy your holidays everyone 🛳
Hoping you all have some joy today.

RosesandLilac Wed 23-Apr-25 09:15:07

Thank you grandMattie & Marydoll, it’s reassuring to hear that it’s not serious.
I actually have low blood pressure so I wasn’t too perturbed but it’s an odd thing to happen!

Stilllearning Wed 23-Apr-25 09:29:36

Good morning from Giffnock, my phone app says it’s full sun but no sign of it here.

I’m heading off shortly to Aberdeen for a few days, to visit my sister who moved up there about ten years ago. She actually lives in a very pretty village about 10 miles outside of the city and I always enjoy my time up there.

A little bit of ironing before I leave DD’s and then off to catch the bus, just over three hours journey and fortunately I can read happily while travelling.

As always remembering those needing support and wishing everyone a good day x

Georgesgran Wed 23-Apr-25 09:31:13

I get red eye a couple of times a year - it clears over a week or so, but I wear sunglasses, as it looks awful.

Sallyforth Wed 23-Apr-25 09:33:37

I must write a message after the kind wishes about my health. I tell this tale not to bore you good folk, but as proof that the NHS is working hard.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get a face-to-face with a Dr at the surgery re awful tinnitus and nausea. He was lovely and gave me lots of advice . Unfortunately the chemist was closed, so I couldn't get the anti-sickness drug till this morning.

I woke at 1.00 a.m. with a very high temperature, incoherent and vomiting and my DD called for an ambulance, but there was a 5 and a half hour wait. The operator said, Red flag, A&E is overflowing. She booked a call from a GP. We managed to get my temperature down, and with ginger the sickness subsided.

An on-call Dr rang after about an hour and has written to my practice suggesting that I possibly have an infection of some kind and could they please call me today.

My DD is queueing at the small village chemist and they've said yesterday they made up over 600 scripts.

When it works, it works really well and I am so grateful.

Kind wishes to all who are poorly or caring for someone who is. Everyone else - get out and enjoy yourselves. flowers

Litterpicker Wed 23-Apr-25 09:37:36

Good morning from sunny West Sussex. The rain during the night will have helped the poor parched earth - we are on clay and could barely get a fork into the soil.

DH has gone to his volunteering session so I have the house to myself. I have hollyhocks that I’ve grown from seed, now ready to plant in the garden.

Ashcombe, I hope you have a lovely cruise. It’s great that you are getting out and about again.

Madeleine, I hope you have a better day.

Marydoll, what a day you had yesterday, but you did get your pot! I hope you will post a photo when it is planted up.

whywhywhy, I hope you get some help for your headaches from your hospital visit.

Gingster, such a worrying time for you both 💐

Best wishes to all in your endeavours or rest from them today.

harrigran Wed 23-Apr-25 09:40:56

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Nothing planned for today, I am expecting a new WiFi hub from BT, no idea why.
Woken at 5.50 am with a phone message from Evri saying I had missed a delivery and needed to reschedule, I had never left the house so someone is telling lies or it is another delivery scam.
Quiet day today, maybe my sister might call.
DD is returning to her home in Brussels.
Have a good day.

Taichinan Wed 23-Apr-25 09:44:13

Good morning all. It is what can only be described as a yucky day on the Angus coast - thick mist one moment which lifts a little and then slams back in again. My most unfavourite weather, so I feel a not-very-happy bunny!
Yesterday was lovely though. After an interesting tai chi class I was given a tour of the improvements being made to the hall we use by the carpenter. He was obviously at the stage of appreciating the result of his labour since the end of last year. He's been amazing about keeping noise to a minimum while classes have been in progress so I was only too happy to admire his work - a suite of new toilets accessed by a wheelchair ramp.
I then spent ages standing in the sunshine chatting to a friend before going off in search of rollmop herrings and Cullen Skink, two of my favourite things at the moment which I rediscovered recently. I didn't get lucky with the Cullen Skink - a fish soup - but I still have enough of the rollmops for today's lunch. I then came home and sat in the sun trying to count the fish in the pond - a bit ironic that!
Anyway, no such thing planned for today, which is very definitely an indoors day. In fact I think I should be posting on the 'boring day' thread!
That was a lovely photo of your gorgeous azalea you posted yesterday FGT.
Gingster I hope your DH is improving and will get home soon. What a hard time you're both having sending 🫂
I'm off now to do something productive. Have a good day all.

hollysteers Wed 23-Apr-25 09:53:08

Good morning on St.George’s Day and Shakespeare’s birthday from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast. I don’t know why not much is made of this day as against St.Patrick’s Day, or why Easter is so low key against Christmas….🤔

Music club as usual yesterday and a high level of culture as I offered Daddy wouldn’t buy me a bow bow complete with stuffed cat amongst my more serious fare. I then collected my new contact lenses in town and flopped in the evening. Out and about every day tires me out these days.

Tonight I drive to the housewarming of a soprano friend. Will have to put my sat nag on and I’m not keen on driving to places I don’t know.
Thoughts to Gingster whywhywhy and all🌺
