Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it promises to be another pleasant day.

I managed to tick a few items off my to do list yesterday. A couple of cupboards are tidier than they’ve been in a long time. Donation bags are full and ready for the charity shop and the laundry and ironing baskets are empty. A fairly productive day.

DD isn’t working this week so we will get to meet her today for coffee and a wander around a NT garden close to where she lives. A rare treat to have her to ourselves for a couple of hours.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning from a dry, overcast Bristol.
We are promised a “heatwave” in May…
Yesterday was a bit odd. I did some domestic goddess-img before going off tongue FAB cafe. The 96yo birthday boy was very touched by our cake and good wished. Not terribly well attended. I think that’ll be the trend for the summer.
I had barely had lunch when I received a call from the Salvation Army asking if they could collect the bed and mattress, now. I was delighted, less so when the driver did all he could to put me down and make me look stupid, mansplaining and patronising. I didn’t show it (I hope) but was absolutely furious by his behaviour.
The rest of the day spent tidying the room where the bed had been and making marmalade, from a tin. My stocks are low.
This morning, I’ve got tai chi and need to do my Spanish homework- describing a film/programme/book which has caught my attention over Easter.
I hope any news you get is good and “your cup runner hover” today.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather gloomy South Yorkshire where it will be cloudy all day. Sun might break through at some point. Yesterday was a frustrating tussle with the building society about some maturing funds. but in the end I phoned the branch who were very helpful and sorted it out. Writers group in the afternoon was fun.
Walking this morning and then my usual lunch with DD, and GS who will be revising at home today.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning Michael and all who follow, early start today DH has his first fishing contest of the season.

Good morning from a fine looking start to the day here in Torbay.

DH woke an hour ago coughing and I feel like I have a cold! Great start to our holiday! Before we set off for Southampton, I have an online physiotherapy appointment regarding the occasional inability to weight bear on my left leg. It was a case of accepting an appointment at 8.00am today or waiting several weeks.

Our ship is Balmoral and she has already docked in Southampton. We’ve sailed on her several times so it will be like reuniting with an old and trusted friend. Good weather is forecast at our ports of call, too, which is pleasing.

I might not be able to post every day but I’ll be thinking of you all, especially those who are struggling with health issues.

Good morning from s somerset, bland weather expected today

I filled my bag with assorted very fresh veg from my greengrocers yesterday, one of this, two of that, very happy with the price. Then decided to attack a pair of db trainers that I use for cycling, the grommets have torn off or are hanging loose. Obsolescence is built in, no reinforcing under the grommets and made to be unwearable in time. Ridiculously expensive too as they are for wide feet

I could so easily have chucked them but no, I spent the whole day repairing them with 2 strips of waxed canvas each, much hand-stitching and 20 new strong grommets. I glued the strips down first. The grommets are 7mm and I only have a 4.5mm hole punch, cutting snips around the holes was difficult. Anyway job done and they will last for years now. I am happy as these trainers work safely when I cycle

I am starting the food at 10, they are leaving home early for early lunch here. Very simple food of pressure-cooked lamb shoulder and lots of varied roast veg, the spices plus herbs from my garden will give the uplift. Old fashioned pressure cooker, works beautifully

Have a good day

Good morning from a grey Essex coast, although we are promised sun later.
I saw a Nurse Practitioner yesterday who diagnosed an eye infection and has given me antibiotic cream and oral antibiotics. I'm struggling to see as my eye waters constantly.
This morning we are out early to pick up our new car. It's bigger than the one we have now so I'm a bit apprehensive about driving it. Big girl pants on and just get on with it.
Have the best day you can everyone best wishes xx

karmalady Thu 24-Apr-25 06:25:26

Ash, safe journey and a very good holiday to you both

RosesandLilac Thu 24-Apr-25 06:28:27

Good morning from south Glos, it’s cloudy and dry here and I hope we’ll see sunshine at some point.
I cleared the ironing pile yesterday, I actually enjoy doing it and nothing’s nicer than the smell of line-dried bedding.
Today I have a double optician appointment for my contact lenses and glasses, that’ll take nearly two hours I suspect, and sewing group this afternoon with a scramble to get lunch in between.
I need to walk one of the dogs first thing, DH will do the other one a bit later, then again later on. Plenty of steps today!
Take care everyone 🌹

Just popped in to say good luck to mr FGT2 today, and let mrs FGT2 know I managed one of their walks yesterday.

From Torremolinos square down the infamously steps turned left at paseo to Los Almos, turned around and walked all the way back past Benalmadena Port. 15,450 steps!!!!

My knee and ankle along with my back are letting me know it this morning 🙋‍♀️

NannyJan53 Thu 24-Apr-25 06:59:56

Good morning from a brighter Black Country.

Trip to Dentist proved it is going to be expensive, over £327 eventually after 2 more appointments.

Managed to de-weed and tidy the front drive in the afternoon.

Thursday walk this morning, along canal with a cafe stop halfway round. Then I may clean the windows this afternoon.

Phew GG13 that is a walk we have done a few times in the past. We have stayed in Benalmadena Pueblo in the past, a lovely village.

Wishing Ash a great holiday.

Thoughts with FGT and himself today. Fingers firmly crossed.

Morning from an overcast S Hants, grey skies due all day. My tyre was sorted yesterday, they tried to sell me two more which I ignored, I know the legal depths.
The D&V house is almost recovered, my daughter managed dry toast last night, wrecked their Easter though.
I’ve a jumper to collect from M&S and a piece of garden at the pub to weed out, I’ve adopted it.
Have a smashing holiday Ashcombe
Happy driving Sar
My thoughts are with both FGT and himself today, also SueD 🌹

Good morning from Amsterdam where at 7.45 I have overslept!
Last nights first night was amazing. The opera was stunning, absolutely wonderful music and of course production. The conductor used to be the Opera House resident conductor and the performance originally planned for 5 years ago had been designed as his swan song. The reception he got last night showed the obvious affection Amsterdam has for him.
So proud to see DD with her flowers at the curtain call and then we had been invited to the after performance party with lots of free bubbles. We (sisters in law and I) baled out around 1 and walking home along tiny cobbled streets beside the silent canals was magical.
SIL had Eurostarred back specially for the opening night (he and DGS had gone back to London on Monday) and he and D both go home today. We fly home today too, but it’s been a memorable few days.
Kind thoughts to all especially Ash and FGT.

kittylester Thu 24-Apr-25 07:08:12

Good morning all from a greyish North Leicestershire.

I have a hair appointment for a cut and colour today. Our second car is in the garage so DH will drop me off in town. He has a volunteer drive so I will have to make my own way home.

Sainsbury's delivery at tea time.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Bellasnana Thu 24-Apr-25 07:09:12

Good morning from Malta where a sunny but windy day is forecast with a high of 19°C.

I will be going over to watch the boys then take them to nursery as DD3 and her DH need to go car shopping.

Unfortunately, subsequent to the car accident last week, the car is a write off. It’s really upset DD3 as it was in no way her fault ( a man in a van shot out through a stop sign and straight into her).

Her car was a Mercedes, quite old but still in pristine condition, however the cost to repair it is just not feasible. It’s very frustrating.

Hope you have a lovely cruise Ash and Oldd, and hope your eye will respond quickly to the treatment, Sar.

Wishing a good day to all, especially those for whom life is difficult at the moment.☀️

Marydoll Thu 24-Apr-25 07:10:17

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow where it is 7C.

I’m so looking forward to seeing Babydoll. We haven’t seen her for nearly two weeks, due to the whole family coming down with that awful bug and DS terrified that I would succumb..
DS will be here early and will take the train from here into his office in town, a rare occurrence, because he mainly works remotely. I find it fascinating that he can troubleshoot IT systems all over the world, without leaving home.
Instead of taking Babydoll home, we will giver her dinner and bath her. It is going to be a very long day, but on a positive note, we don't have to brave the rush hour traffic! 😉
The plan is to go to Braehead shopping mall, papa will taker her for a walk along the Riverside, (R. Clyde) while I force myself to have some retail therapy in Primark and hopefully TKMaxx. 😁
BayD is growing so fast that I need some new changes of clothes for her. Primark is the perfect solution.

My visit to the dentist yesterday had a positive outcome. No fillings nor crowns needed, sixth months supply of prescription toothpaste (normal toothpaste is excruciatingly painful to use at the moment) and a referral to the dental hospital to investigate the lesions in my mouth. The dentist didn’t mess about, nor say much, just that I needed to be examined by an oral surgeon, as the ulcers were unusual in appearance. Of course my imagination was in overdrive by the time I left!
To my utter embarrassment, I burst into tears, trying to explain how painful my mouth is and how desperately I need help.

When I got home, I phoned the GP surgery to leave a message for my GP, advising him of the hospital referral. The receptionist was exceptionally rude and asked me what exactly I wanted her to do. She must have been related to your rude Salvation A driver, GM 😉
I also asked her to advise my GP that the lesion on my neck was still not healing, despite various prescriptions and I was requesting a dermatology referral, as promised. “You will need to make an appointment ”, was the response, despite me trying to explain that I already have had three appointments regarding this and my GP has said I was to leave an update for him.😡

Enjoy your day out Baubles and safe travels Ash. I hope you and OldD are coming down with something.

Have a good day all and best wishes and prayers for those, who are struggling.
I need to dash, my phone is red hot with instructions about baby, I suspect she will be hear earlier than normal!!

Grandmabatty Thu 24-Apr-25 07:17:28

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and cloudy. Safe voyage Ash I hope you both have a lovely cruise. Grannygravy a lovely part of Spain. GrandMattie I can understand why you were so annoyed. My brother behaves like that often.
Yesterday I tidied up in the morning then did a couple of hours in the school library in the afternoon. The primary seven (year six) teacher would like me to work with her class this afternoon, encouraging them to read. That'll be interesting. I read two of my library books that I borrowed on Tuesday and I don't fancy the third, so a visit to the library is on the cards. Back home, I blethered to a couple of neighbours for a while. They are lovely people and were the first to welcome me when I moved into the street.
Today I must get petrol as I'm running on fumes. A quiet morning where I'll do a little ironing and faff about. Then the school library this afternoon. No idea what to make for dinner. I think it'll be macaroni cheese. Have a good day all.

Good Morning from Durham. Another grey start. Yesterday didn’t improve and was really cold - heating on, but there’s better weather on the way next week.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning, then, at some point, DD1 will follow me to the garage to leave my car, then take her’s home. I’ve quite enjoyed driving it and now wondering if my Mini is a bit too small.
Walking tonight with DD2’s Little Dog.
Fingers crossed for the FGTs today and hugs to the Gingsters. MD too!

Best wishes to all.

Redcar Thu 24-Apr-25 07:20:29

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry, cloudy and mild so far today. Not sure what the forecast is. Yesterday I put some flowers on my DH’s grave, today would have been our 54th anniversary. I’m looking after DD1’s dog today and also have a podiatrist appointment. Will see DD2 at some point too.

ash I hope you have a lovely holiday, enjoy the tulips! They’re my favourite flower but those in my garden are nearly finished because they’re an early variety.

fgt I hope that your DH’s scan results are good, thinking of you.

rosie your trip to Amsterdam sounds amazing, you must be so proud of your DD.

Have the best day possible everyone.

harrigran Thu 24-Apr-25 07:27:36

Good morning from a dry NE where it is starting to brighten.
DD returned to Belgium yesterday but she will be back in two weeks to take me on holiday.
SIL is coming to take me shopping.
Thoughts are with FGTand her DH and others who are poorly.

Gingster Thu 24-Apr-25 07:34:54

Good morning all.

Happy cruising Ash I hope your colds don’t develop.
Sar look after that eye.
A long day for you Marydoll, but you’ll enjoy your little one.
What a wonderful time youve had RosieandherMaw. How proud you must have been.

Dh is still in hospital and threatening to break out. Doctors are happy to let him home but physios not so. He still has a catheter in so I need him to stay put until that’s removed. He told me yesterday that Ive betrayed him! 🤦‍♀️.

Dd and I will do the same as yesterday - buses arrived quickly and journey there and back , perfect.
DIL is on standby if he needs picking up .

Enjoy the day if you can 🌱

Gingster Thu 24-Apr-25 07:35:59

Thinking if you FGT and himself. 🙏

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 24-Apr-25 07:37:47

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

It is my Book Group today. We meet in the local cafe over lunchtime. The theme this month is books with a seaside setting. I will talk about Persuasion by Jane Austen and the French Lieutenants Woman by John Fowles. Both coincidentally set in Lyme Regis. We will also talk about other books we’ve read.

Elder son and his family are back from Italy today so I will order flowers for son’s partner whose special birthday it was last week.

Have a good day. I’m thinking of the FGT2S and their appointment today.

grandMattie Thu 24-Apr-25 07:38:06

Of, FGT, I do hope the news is positive. Prayers are on the cards.
gingsters, MD and anyone else, I hope you have a better day.
Ash, have a wonderfully relaxing cruise and enjoy the flowers!🌷
