Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. Sunshine in the forecast.
A general pottering day ahead. Nothing exciting for sure!
The latest covid jab floored me too grandmattie. Please do rest and recover. Hope mr gingster had a comfortable night. Understand you’ll be unsettled susan. I’ll be thinking of you and hope there will be some reassurance.
A wish that Sunday is kind to us all.

Good Morning Sunday 27th April 2025
(46 Posts)Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it is already bright.
Just having TiB to give us strength to cope with DD3 and Co arrive. We love them to pieces but they are not quiet. Wolfie is currently pushing boundaries and, after the last time we took him out, he had to write us a card apologising for being 'rood' and promising to be good if we would take him out again. Made us smile.
Forest on the TV later - stressful.
Enjoyed DS’s flying visit but back to solitude again. We have a group service this morning in our “old” village and I am reading so must practise so that I do it well. Otherwise a quiet day with the paper and the DVD of Conclave, lent by a friend. Hope Madeleine has a more satisfactory day after the frustrations of yesterday.
Good morning from a foggy Essex coast, but I do believe the sun will shine later.
I am one happy gran as my team won at Wembley yesterday and are on their way to the FA Cup Final.
DH will be happy today as his team should hopefully win the Premier League this afternoon.
As you may have guessed we are a football watching couple.
I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell GM, hopefully you will feel better soon.
DH is off to rugby with his grandsons soon and I will watch some of the London Marathon.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone xx
Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it looks like it’ll be a lovely day ahead
Sorry to hear that you tripped bluesapphire but good that it was only your sunglasses damaged and you could still enjoy the day. Thank you for sharing the gorgeous photos
Also georges and roses sorry to hear you’ve been struggling with injuries
We had a really enjoyable day yesterday, DD1 and I went into the city centre which was very busy but still enjoyable. Last night we looked after the DGSs whilst they went out, they don’t often get the chance so it’s nice to help out. I think we’re all off out for brunch somewhere and then we’ve got to head home to Inverness this afternoon
Hoping all goes well this afternoon Susan
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. The mist is just clearing leaving a nice blue sky with sunshine. The heating came on briefly, so probably quite cool out.
Yesterday developed into a lovely sunny mild day, but my back was painful so I didn’t do very much. I did clean the shower tray which annoyed my back even more!
I needed to use some eggs before they went out of date, so spent a while looking through cake recipes - I made some brownies as I had ingredients for those! I hope the family will eat some today when they come over. The seven year old has a party to go to this afternoon so they’ll be here this morning. The ten year old has swimming this morning so they’ll come over after that. I may get a bit of ironing and gardening done in between visits. Boring stuff!
grandmattie I hope you feel better soon and georgesgran and rosesandlilac I hope that resting will help your poor feet.
blue and glammagran beautiful photos of your visit to Mykonos. Enjoy your day at sea!
Have the best day possible everyone, enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather!
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
Thank you for all the best wishes. I had a lovely birthday. The mosaic workshop was great fun. There were eight of us (seven women and one man) plus the tutor. I was quite pleased with my effort. OH and I went out for dinner last night. My steak was so enormous I brought half of it home in a doggie bag!
A quiet day today. I will cook roast pork for dinner. Of course if the promised heatwave happens, I’ll think again. Maybe salmon.
Have a good day.
Good morning from Shropshire where a warm, sunny day is forecast.
I have a late afternoon appointment for a scan and biopsy so that will be on my mind all day.
Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and cloudy. Some injuries on the thread this morning! I hope everyone heals quickly.
Yesterday I met a friend for second breakfast at the garden centre. There's a lovely fruit and veg shop there, so I bought rhubarb and some asparagus. Both were very expensive but worth it. Once id dropped off my pal, I did very little. My motivation had disappeared.
Today I plan to make lentil soup in the slow cooker. Then do the housework I didn't do yesterday. I'll water the garden pots too. Dinner will be trout fillet with asparagus and tenderstem broccoli and sauté potatoes followed by rhubarb crumble. Have a good day all
Good morning from sunny south Glos, it’s a glorious start to the day here!
We enjoyed our longer dog walk yesterday although I was hobbling badly for most of it after stubbing my little toe first thing- it swollen and very bruised, I can’t move it either 🤬
Anyway, a pleasant afternoon sitting in the summerhouse enjoying an audiobook, with my foot elevated, helped.
Today more of the same; I will take my drawing stuff down with me and do some sketching I think.
A lazy day for me!
I hope you’re feeling better soon grandMattie and the same to anyone who’s under the weather 🌹
Good morning Mick and all GN;s on a still clear morning in North Yorkshire. Looks as though it is brightening but not sure yet.
Well , a mixed couple of days, but this morning trying to be back to normal, and will watch a bit of the marathons, and listen to a lot of radio, to soothe and enjoy and get back some balance. May meet a friend this afternoon or if the weather heats up might go to the coast.
On friday I was awake before 5am and very stressed out about the dentist, but got myself together and arrived in good time for the 9am appointment. The receptionist goes through all the stuff about change in prescriptions and so forth and I know her from before. But today she said did you drive here? I said yes and she said she would need to tell the dentist as they had planned treatment and using the gas and air etc. I immediately felt very panicked and said I thought it was a check up to decide what to do . This was my first time meeting a new dentist, as my previous dentist , whom I knew and trusted had retired. She had always seen me for a check up and then arranged any treatment usually for the following week or fortnight. It had been some weeks since I had seen this dentist and since then had lost the filling . So a mix up.
Anyway went in to see her, taking my cushion as my back was very bad. She said the previous time counted as the check up, and so she would look at my teeth and see what needed doing and I said I could either leave the car or get someone to come and pick me up if I could not drive. So she started checking my teeth and looking at where the filling had come out. The nurse , who knew me from before, asked if my back was no better , as I had brought the cushion. I replied saying I had had a cataract operation and had to lie flat which always causes me problems etc. The dentist immediately stopped what she was doing and asked me about it. I said it was a local anaesthetic and I had no change to any prescription,.
It was a good job I had mentioned it as they will not use gas and air for about 6 months after this, because if there is a small hole near your eye, the gas can go there and cause damage. So after all the stress and worry, I couldnt have anything done anyway. I didnt know whether to cry, punch a cushion or say some very anglo saxon words!! Did none of them of course and tottered off to have a much needed coffee and then home.
So had a horrible night and my back was so bad yesterday that I couldnt bend well or walk or anything, and was full of aches and pains and frustration. I came onto gransnet and wrote a post, which then promptly disappeared! Decided I needed to get out, so got a picnic organised very slowly, and then went off to see a garden. They had promised sunshine and warmth, but it actually stayed quite grey and chilly all day. With the weather we have been having the garden wasnt as far on as expected to be, but nevertheless was worth seeing and , for me, was calming and cheering to be with fellow gardeners and talking plants and gardens. Definitely the right thing to do.
So today is going to be a slow and steady day for me. Still in quite a lot of pain but not as bad as yesterday and will watch a bit of the marathons, and firstly need to get the flat in some order, and empty the car. Then will check through my picnic box and make sure it is all set and up to date for good weather (hopefully) . I also put in a "hopeful" bag of clothes. That is to say T shirt, and shorts and sandals, and one of my older swimming costumes and towel, so that if I am out doing boring things like shopping etc, can take advantage of good weather and choose to go off to the coast without having to come back for stuff.
So if nothing else , hope to get things sorted out here and in the car, and may meet a friend this afternoon for coffee. If I can I will get the garden fork out and attack the dandelion clump, and go round with my secateurs to make sure I have deadheaded the daffodils so that the goodness goes into the bulbs for next year. Tonight I will give them a good watering, and in the meantime , last night I managed to knock over some paperwork, and couldnt even bend down to pick it up, so by tonight hope things will be much more back to normal.
Well the sun has decided to come out, which is a good start now. I shall enjoy some good weather, but hope it is not too hot for the runners today. It is very uplifting, when there is so much news of selfish and dreadful things caused by humans in the world, to see so many people making such a great effort, not only to push themselves to their limit, but to raise money for so many charities. The effort to just actually manage to complete the marathon is huge, but to wear a costume too, adds to the effort, but it really does help to get publicity for their causes, so well done to them all. Wonder if there are any GN's running? Or perhaps cheering family on from the side. Well best of luck to them all.
I have obviously missed various posts and will try and look back and catch up with the news from yesterday. Hope everyone has a good day and the weather keeps fine for you all
More pictures of the pretty village we stopped at after our visit to the vineyard.
Good morning everyone from a sunny day in the Med somewhere between Greece and Sicily. At last a restful day at sea after 5 days of excursions on the trot.
Yesterday we were in Mykonos, which turned out to be rather eventful as I completely missed a step on our visit to a vineyard and ended up with a grazed face and knee. Luckily no more damage done except to my pride and a very expensive psir of prescription sunglasses badly scratched, but at least I can claim on my insurance for that.
Apart from that it was a lovely day out, the wine was good and the scenery amazing. We had free time in the village and a bit of
retail therapy was undertaken...
Formal night tonight again, so on with the glad rags! Hope i can still get into my dress...
Photos are at the vineyard, glammagran too!
Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is up and ready to go. I slept a full eight hours last night. I was tired before I started yesterday. I washed my car yesterday afternoon, and cleaned up a mess of feathers behind my garden wall where a sparrow hawk had taken a pigeon off the wall where they often spend time billing and cooing. I doubt she would have seen it coming. There was just a neat pair of wings left and so many white feathers it looked as if it had snowed. Sad. The male looked quite lost yesterday.
Today I’m going to watch GS play football. It’s their last ever match as a team because all these young men will be off to pastures new in the summer when they leave school. Some of them have been playing together since they were seven, and I have been watching them for that long. The end of an era.
Have the best day you can, folks.
grandMattie so sorry you are suffering. It’s not like you to sound so unwell. Try to get a good rest if you can. You’ll be in my prayers.💐
Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 24°C. Still a bit breezy as well.
I didn’t manage to post yesterday due to sleeping late then having to dash to meet my friend for coffee. I then got stuck into watching the Pope’s funeral.
Anyway, apologies to Llfl for missing her birthday. I do hope you had a lovely day.🥳
I babysat the boys last night, both absolutely sweet, cuddly and excited to see Nana. How lovely it is to feel loved by them.
They went to bed quite late but with no trouble. Mum and Dad rolled in at 2am from a friend’s party. They had had a good time so I’m glad as they don’t get much alone time.
This morning I’m going to Mass, after which FaceTime chat with my pal, then there’s tennis to watch plus a bit of tidying up before I start my early morning childcare again tomorrow.
Take care Georgesgran, I hope resting your foot will help speed your recovery.
Wishing you all a good day.☀️
Good morning from a misty Bristol. This promised heatwave is due to start today. I have to confess feeling rather glad as I’m tired of the cold weather.
I’m feeling rather our of sorts, with an uncomfortable arm due to the latest COVID top up. I think we were given block appointments, as I arrived on time for my 0915 appointment only to see a queue of about 30 people in front of me. It moved fairly quickly, things were a bit less clunky. It was a pity that only four chairs were put out for so very many, old people; every one was old…
I tried to go to the church coffe and chat only to find three others looking forlornly at the empty church! I’ve no idea what went on. It certainly wasn’t my turn,I’ve done th3 last two Saturdays.
I went home an£ did nothing as I was starting to feel unwell. My arm still hurts…
Much the same today - church and doing very little as I’m not feeling terribly well.
May you all enjoy your various holidays and outings, have respite from sorrow and pain. Have a blessed Sunday .
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good Morning from Durham. Grey, still and misty again.
I shall be bored rigid today, but I’m trying to rest my foot as much as I can and Amazon is delivering a variety of products later to try and alleviate the discomfort.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning from s somerset, sun today
I was busy allotment weeding yesterday, went up in my car as I took a strimmer to store in my locked storage box. I want to go there again today, cycling with beetroot seedlings in my pannier and a few seeds to sow plus I will de-weed another bed
I expect I will be back at lunchtime, likely change my bedding and take the electric blanket off. Gather washing for monday and give the bedroom a quick bottoming. Conclave book beckons too, it is easy to read
Have a good day
Good morning everyone from a dry and mild north Wales coast where much cheering for Wrexham football ⚽️ team’s performance went on at PG Towers yesterday 🥂👏
Belated birthday greetings LLFL 🎂 and how marvellous that Mr Gingster is home at last - hope the nursing needs improve 🙏
Another quiet day doing the necessary…cooking, eating, drinking and pottering in the garden so that we can relax and enjoy the promised 🌞 this week, aren’t we lucky! It’s like winning a free holiday 🤣
Hope you all have lovely weather wherever you are 🤗
