Good morning Mick and all GN;s on a still clear morning in North Yorkshire. Looks as though it is brightening but not sure yet.
Well , a mixed couple of days, but this morning trying to be back to normal, and will watch a bit of the marathons, and listen to a lot of radio, to soothe and enjoy and get back some balance. May meet a friend this afternoon or if the weather heats up might go to the coast.
On friday I was awake before 5am and very stressed out about the dentist, but got myself together and arrived in good time for the 9am appointment. The receptionist goes through all the stuff about change in prescriptions and so forth and I know her from before. But today she said did you drive here? I said yes and she said she would need to tell the dentist as they had planned treatment and using the gas and air etc. I immediately felt very panicked and said I thought it was a check up to decide what to do . This was my first time meeting a new dentist, as my previous dentist , whom I knew and trusted had retired. She had always seen me for a check up and then arranged any treatment usually for the following week or fortnight. It had been some weeks since I had seen this dentist and since then had lost the filling . So a mix up.
Anyway went in to see her, taking my cushion as my back was very bad. She said the previous time counted as the check up, and so she would look at my teeth and see what needed doing and I said I could either leave the car or get someone to come and pick me up if I could not drive. So she started checking my teeth and looking at where the filling had come out. The nurse , who knew me from before, asked if my back was no better , as I had brought the cushion. I replied saying I had had a cataract operation and had to lie flat which always causes me problems etc. The dentist immediately stopped what she was doing and asked me about it. I said it was a local anaesthetic and I had no change to any prescription,.
It was a good job I had mentioned it as they will not use gas and air for about 6 months after this, because if there is a small hole near your eye, the gas can go there and cause damage. So after all the stress and worry, I couldnt have anything done anyway. I didnt know whether to cry, punch a cushion or say some very anglo saxon words!! Did none of them of course and tottered off to have a much needed coffee and then home.
So had a horrible night and my back was so bad yesterday that I couldnt bend well or walk or anything, and was full of aches and pains and frustration. I came onto gransnet and wrote a post, which then promptly disappeared! Decided I needed to get out, so got a picnic organised very slowly, and then went off to see a garden. They had promised sunshine and warmth, but it actually stayed quite grey and chilly all day. With the weather we have been having the garden wasnt as far on as expected to be, but nevertheless was worth seeing and , for me, was calming and cheering to be with fellow gardeners and talking plants and gardens. Definitely the right thing to do.
So today is going to be a slow and steady day for me. Still in quite a lot of pain but not as bad as yesterday and will watch a bit of the marathons, and firstly need to get the flat in some order, and empty the car. Then will check through my picnic box and make sure it is all set and up to date for good weather (hopefully) . I also put in a "hopeful" bag of clothes. That is to say T shirt, and shorts and sandals, and one of my older swimming costumes and towel, so that if I am out doing boring things like shopping etc, can take advantage of good weather and choose to go off to the coast without having to come back for stuff.
So if nothing else , hope to get things sorted out here and in the car, and may meet a friend this afternoon for coffee. If I can I will get the garden fork out and attack the dandelion clump, and go round with my secateurs to make sure I have deadheaded the daffodils so that the goodness goes into the bulbs for next year. Tonight I will give them a good watering, and in the meantime , last night I managed to knock over some paperwork, and couldnt even bend down to pick it up, so by tonight hope things will be much more back to normal.
Well the sun has decided to come out, which is a good start now. I shall enjoy some good weather, but hope it is not too hot for the runners today. It is very uplifting, when there is so much news of selfish and dreadful things caused by humans in the world, to see so many people making such a great effort, not only to push themselves to their limit, but to raise money for so many charities. The effort to just actually manage to complete the marathon is huge, but to wear a costume too, adds to the effort, but it really does help to get publicity for their causes, so well done to them all. Wonder if there are any GN's running? Or perhaps cheering family on from the side. Well best of luck to them all.
I have obviously missed various posts and will try and look back and catch up with the news from yesterday. Hope everyone has a good day and the weather keeps fine for you all
