While out in town today I had a brief sit down along with various other shoppers of all ages and races. An elderly man dropped a coin under the bench and a young African man leapt into action, ,crawling under the seat to retrieve it for him, then smiled broadly at us all and wished everyone a happy day before heading off. It really lifted my spirits.

I found (via my hairdresser) a new lightweight, quiet hairdryer that doesn't cost the earth. Futaria Professional

Out to lunch while visiting with my son partne and the GC in Gibraltar whi see every 18mths or so theyve grown so much since I last visited. One of my daughters came with me so seeing the siblings together is a real treat for me.

A long (for me) cycle ride this morning, orchards, fields, thatched cottages, duck pond with fluffy baby ducks, now back to enjoy the sunshine at home

Seeing a blackbird digging up a worm and flying into my unpruned Lonicera bush where I guess he has a nest, all from the safe vantage point of the greenhouse/hide

Watching our tortoise race across the grass when I took him his daily carrot.
He then came over and nudged my foot in the hope of getting another.

We had a lovely walk with our dog today, even finding somewhere shady when it got hot. Then lunch out before we walked back.

Still enjoying this hot weather. I had a lovely walk and natter with a friend this afternoon. The scenery was magnificent and it really lifted my mood which was a tad down this morning.

It was a few days ago, but I heard that the lovely next door neighbours of a dd (they are from an EU country but have been here for many years, both working in highly responsible professional jobs) had finally found a house they could afford to buy (in what is an expensive area) very close by - after shelling out rent to an indifferent landlord for so long.
It really made my day.

We had our annual gathering of the cousins, today.

There were 18 of us now down to 14. 10 of us and our spouses all got together at the house of one of ua, all bought our party piece for the buffet lunch and had a very nice time.

Quite a storm last evening, so pond full and vegetable garden looking good.

Having planted several new plants yesterday I went outside early this morning to check them and re-water. I love watching new plants grow.

While making a cup of coffee at 6.00 this morning a young male fox was leaping about on the grass. I haven't seen one in our middle of town garden for about 30 years. When he lay down quietly a magpie flew down and sauntered about until the fox moved his head.

Now I know why my DDs dog spends ages sniffing the grass when he is here.

And the sun was up and the sky is blue. What a pleasure.

"Final" appointment with cancer specialist to say no more scans needed cos all is clear, just a follow-up in six months.

Wonderful news.

We went to a garden centre, bought all the annuals for pots in our yard and treated ourselves to a cream tea 😊

Mr RLW has bought me my very first denim jacket! I've hankered after one since I was a teenager. I'm not too old at 3 days off my three score years and ten, am I?

Never too old, a denim jacket is a classic, enjoy!😃

Long sunny/shady walk through woods and fields, edged by a river, much to the delight of our dog, who would now like to sit on me to dry off!

My DH has set up a small waterfall in our little pond and it's become very popular to our delight. We've already had visitors eg a crow [which surprised me because of it's size but seemed delighted with the opportunity for a good wash] and several small birds also are enjoying a bath and sprucing their feathers. DH also put in 13 [!!!!!] frogs of various sizes we found in a puddle in the garden which also seemed to have found themselves happily at home. The birds thankfully [well at least so far] have not tried to catch the frogs preferring to preen themselves! Nature is wonderful - and it makes me feel good too!

I had a wonderful day yesterday at the care home where I volunteer. The place was a sea of union jacks and great music blasting out. People were in the beautiful garden and a class of nursery children came to visit and chat. Smiles all round. A fabulous tea party followed.
I loved hearing the war time stories from people who were actually there. A terrific day all round and I drifted off to sleep with my mind filled with bright memories of the day.
