What has given you pleasure today? ( An anti-rant thread).

A lovely walk in Dockey Wood in Ashridge I have never seen so many beautiful bluebells.

Our Mr and Mrs Pigeon are welcome to relocate to your garden, Mirren.

Last summer I was thrilled to watch a pigeon pair raise and fledge 2 babies in the apple tree outside my bedroom window.
Sadly, their second brood succumbed to one of the local cats and it broke my heart.
This year the apple tree has abundant blossom and, to my huge delight, this morning I saw Mr and Mrs Pigeon back at the nest.
Hopefully I will have another " pigeon summer " .
My terriers will need to do a better job of deterring marauding felines !

Potted on some lupins which I grew from seed. Keeping my fingers crossed that they will grow on.

I managed to put an ancient clock (works only of a cottage long-case) on eBay - never done it before - and have actually received 2 offers!

I went for afternoon tea with my DD, she booked for Mother’s Day, but this was her first Wednesday off. Some lovely sandwiches, cakes tea and Prosecco. Plus the sun was shining glorious

Eating lovely soup, bread & tofu for lunch. 😊

Working in the garden along side my husband. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and there is a nice bottle of wine waiting for us once we've had a bath to ease our aching backs!

Went to Rock Choir this morning with my 2 friends then sat out in the sunshine for a light lunch on the way home. Fab!

Playing in the paddling pool with my 4 year old granddaughter. First time this year.

I did a good tidy up on my patio decluttering old pots etc makes a big difference.
Went for my mammogram and the ladies on reception said I was glamorous. It is nice to get a compliment when feeling a bit anxious it bucked me up.

Sitting in the garden, once again a beautiful day glorious sunshine enjoying all that surrounds me and I've just eaten a hot cross bun spread with divine Bonne Maman raspberry conserve, a real treat given Easter has been and gone now.

Reading these postings has been my treat for the day. With all the horrendous things going on in the world, it's so good to be reminded of life's little pleasures.

Why did you say an African man? A gentleman would have been more appropriate; no need to say that. The age of chivalry hasn't passed, has it?

I passed my PhD appraisal today - so relieved!

I’m on holiday and today I enjoyed beautiful gardens and, even better, many wildflowers in the hedgerows by the coastal road.

I cleared out the bottom of my wardrobe and found some sandals I'd forgotten all about! Lots of dust and cobwebs but thankfully no spiders....

I made the teas and coffees at our village exercise class for older people with health problems run by young instructors who are highly trained.
We meet every week and are a very happy group who are grateful to be able to attend and I love feeling useful doing this small voluntary act.

Getting my hair sorted. My knees have gone, my hips are going, and my bone cancer prevents any replacements of either. I managed to hobble down to the local hairdressers and finally get a much-needed hair cut. My I feel good!

I did my big start-of-the-month shopping today - yes, I know it is the 30th of April today, but my pension is paid in to my bank account on the last bank day of the month, and I shop in Germany, where May 1st is a public holiday.

Came home, put the shopping away and then weeded a six foot long flower-bed (all right, all right, it is only 45 cm wide, but I never got round to it last summer, as I was painting window frames) planted the plants I had just bought and moved some "elephant ears" that are encroaching on the path in the back garden into my newly weeded front bed, watered the lot and believe it or not: I AM NOT AN ABSOLUTE WRECK (the usual result of gardening).

Oh, and I met a friend and had a nice chat while on my way home from the shops.

My dentist told me she can repair the tooth I thought was a complete gonner with a simple filling.

How funny, same thing! I was expecting to be told it needed a root canal and crown. Absolutely delighted to hear a filling would suffice. I’m avoiding peanuts now!
