Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and cloudy. Ashcombe 'It's a wonderful life ' is my favourite Christmas film! Sadly I'm much too far away to visit. Redcar a lot achieved yesterday for you. Karma and Mattie I'm another who likes Philip Glass.
Yesterday I met a dear friend for brunch. She wanted to see me before my rescheduled cataract op. We spent a lovely couple of hours blethering and eating perfectly cooked poached eggs on sourdough toast. And drinking copious amounts of tea. Parking was a challenge though. Clearly everyone and their aunt were making use of free parking on Sunday. Back home, I reverted to lazy gran mode and did nothing else apart from cook a gammon joint for dinner.
Today I have no plans. I'll empty and load the dishwasher and do an ironing (which I should have done yesterday) and do a quick hoover. I'll probably rewash the front door as it looks streaky. I don't think I'll see the boys. Dd has a holiday and she likes to go out with the boys. Dsil is working and gets extra for a Bank Holiday. Have a good day all

Handsome young decorator due to start on the water damaged kitchen shortly so must be ready for a tiresome few days. Am glad he can fit the job into his busy schedule but will be even more glad if there are no more expensive things to be done in the house. The bank balance would like a rest.

Nothing else planned for this week but I expect life will happen.

Good morning from a sunny but nippy midlands.
Hay fever has been really bad lately with the tree pollens. Black dog day yesterday but must try and keep busy today. Positive thoughts needed.
I’ll write some poetry.
Hugs to all suffering. flowers Marydoll

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, but it is only a chilly 0°C. Brrrrrr!

I have just received a photo of Babydoll in her onesie, about to board a flight to Paris.
Now I shall spend the next few days working about them, her mum and dad , are so laid back about everything.
BabyD and DS appeared unexpectedly yesterday, DIL needed peace to pack. 😄
Despite DS being forty three years old, I interrogated him about having insurance etc, especially as he carries an Epi- pen.
Many years ago, just as he was leaving on a boys holiday, I discovered he had no travel insurance.😱 I have never let him forget it.😉

My plan yesterday had been to go into the garden after church.
Between being very busy and late back, DH arriving back too early from his seaside golf outing and BabyD's visit, it did not happen.
Hopefully, I will get out today, for a time. I'm not feeling my best, but I need to keep going!

This morning, I am going to count the fête raffle ticket money ready to go to the bank and do a few church admin jobs. To our delight, we have sold them all, which, if all the money is returned, should raise £4000 towards the church restoration fund.
Even better, the Diocese has approved our loan for the first phase of the restoration.

GM, I hope you managed to get through yesterday and that your celebration goes well.
Pants, enjoy your anniversary treat.

I expect DD will appear at some point to pick up her birthday gifts. She has never grown up, still expecting a bag of goodies, (bath bombs, a Toblerone, etc.) all individually wrapped.
I woke up worrying about her. She had been out celebrating yesterday and didn't respond to my texts, so unlike her. It turned out her phone had died.
Once a mother, always a mother, you never stop worrying!

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.
Sending my very best wishes to all, who are unwell, in pain or struggling.💐

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but chilly Carlisle. It was 4C° at 7am.
Nevertheless, I shall be changing to my lighter duvet this morning, I've been getting too warm sometimes during the night. It will just be a usual Monday of jobs this morning but I intend to pop down to the park after lunch, something might be going on as we're commemorating VE day this weekend.
I've more or less sorted myself out after my trip away. Below, hopefully some photos.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Portsmouth having recently arrived back from our cruise. Waiting to disembark which may take some time.

It was very chilly yesterday so nobody was out on the decks other than for walks round the promenade deck. Looking forward to being back home now - 22 days was quite a long time away.

Hope you all have a good Bank Holiday Monday.

Good morning, chilly but quite bright here in N. Bucks.
We are going to the local country park to see DGS 2 taking part and n a cycle event for cubs.
This afternoon DH will be finishing off the DIY for DD2 whilst I prepare dinner and do some water colour painting to painting. She will join us to eat.
A good day wished for all , hopefully with some sunshine.

Good morning from a much chillier Shropshire.

I am relieved that DD2 is home from her trip with eight other teachers taking aid to Calais. It was a very emotional trip as usual. They had taken so much but ran out of baby blankets. So many people needed help. They were making hot drinks but in the end could only let the children have one biscuit each.Absolutely heartbreaking situation💔

Another quiet day today.I am spoilt for choice with books to read as have several on my kindle, borrowbox and a couple I have bought.

Hoping madeleine is feeling better today.

Lovely photos everyone and also Ash yesterday.

Have the best day you can everyone🌻🦩

Good morning all and it’s chilly here in Essex.

Yesterday was busy with gardening. DS1 worked hard clearing grass from the drive, taking me to a nursery for pot plants and potting them all up for me. He’s had to go to work in London today so at least he’s sitting down and no physical work to be done. He has a big garden himself and is always running around after everyone. Two teenage girls and wife to look after, so I try not to ask too much of him. But it’s his nature and we can’t stop him ❤️.

I like your quote FGT - a marathon not a sprint, but finishing line is ahead! Lovely, thanks 🙏. Enjoy Malaga and send us some warmth! 🥶.

Take care all 🪴

The dining room where we’ve just had breakfast and the well stocked Cape Bar

monk08 Mon 05-May-25 08:30:50

Good morning all from an overcast Black country.
Well yesterday evening was a disaster enjoying a film when the power went off, lights remained on went into the dining room and could hear water gushing on entering the kitchen water everywhere coming from the boiler. DH switched water and boiler off. Rang British gas who were out within an hour it seems the tank has a crack he was here until after 1am having problems isolating the hot water. Being bank holiday it will be Tuesday before hopefully parts can be sort and it repaired, he was a very nice engineer and insisted on leaving us with 2 fan heaters in case it got to cold for us.
Because it means heating kettles for hot water DH has said we will eat out this evening save me the trouble.
Safe travels those on the move not long now to you are back in your happy place Fgt. Those havinge VE celebrations enjoy.
Have a good day everyone ☀️.

Thanks Ashcombe we are down that way later this year, I’ll keep an eye out

GrannySomerset Mon 05-May-25 08:43:55

My sympathy, Monk, there is no worse sound than water where it shouldn’t be. Glad British Gas were so quick off the mark.

Blossoming Mon 05-May-25 09:22:35

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire 😊. Definitely cooler today.

Hope your afternoon tea goes well GrandMattie after all the work you’ve put in. Perhaps those non communicative residents will join in when they see others enjoying themselves.

Safe journey FGT, have a wonderful time.

What a nightmare Monk08, hope it can be sorted tomorrow.

Yesterday MrB accompanied me on a walk down to the lock gates. I got to wave at a train on the way back. My arms were very tired by the time we got home, I need to work on building up some strength there. I also did half an hour on my mini pedaller to give my legs an extra workout. Today’s planned walk will be shorter but more challenging, as it involves walking on cobbles. Might be a bumpy ride.

Sending healing thoughts to all the poorlies and those with sadness in their hearts at the moment.

Wishing you all a happy Monday 🌹♥️

Ziplok Mon 05-May-25 09:34:20

Good morning all,

Sunny spells and cloud here today. It’s considerably colder, too - the heating came on.

Enjoy your holidays all of you away on your travels and enjoy your tea parties all of you commemorating VE Day.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a still clear morning in North Yorkshire. Looks as though we have had a shower in the night but nothing like the amount we could do with.

Am still struggling at the moment. Back not good so very frustrating too. No plans , just see how the day goes. Glad you enjoyed Spiegel im Spiegel, lovely piece. Thankyou for your good wishes.

Hope you all have a good day
