Hello everyone, It's a bit overcast ☁️ in our little corner of Somerset, but that's ok as I spent most of the morning hacking branches of a tree which is looking a bit poorly. Hopefully that will help what's left to rejuvenate itself. As usual I hadn't intended to do more than a little light pruning so I wasn't wearing my gardening clogs or gloves! No wonder I have hands like a navvie. Now planning on sitting knitting while Himself cuts up said branches to take to the tip. Happy Sunday afternoon everyone. smile

Hope all goes well tomorrow grandmabatty

Susan56 Sun 11-May-25 12:02:36

All the best for tomorrow Grandmabatty.I’m so glad to hear you had such a lovely time with your son yesterday and that he is considering going on holiday with you all.Such joyous news☺️

Taichinan Sun 11-May-25 11:16:39

Good wishes for tomorrow Grandmabatty - and of course thoughts with FGT and Himself.

cornergran Sun 11-May-25 10:04:57

Good wishes from me too for tomorrow grandmab. Good to hear you so upbeat

Grandmabatty Sun 11-May-25 09:58:29

Thank you ladies for your lovely messages. Karma, I am joyous. It's a good word to describe how I feel. Yesterday he blethered non stop for ages! I think he misses human contact and enjoyed the company. Dd and Dsil have invited him to come on holiday with us in the summer and he's seriously thinking about it. Thank you also for the good wishes for tomorrow.
Pots are watered and I'm off to weed.

karmalady Sun 11-May-25 09:12:29

Thank you Brook, I need to stay in for a bit longer, drat, dpd is delivering a massage seat with heat from a seller on ebay. I really want that homedics massage seat so will wait in for it

I have to kill another 35 minutes, lunch is ready in the fridge, scone is out of the freezer, cycling clothes all over my bed, decisions decisions what to wear as I will be cycling through some cool shade. Bottle of water ready. Tyres pumped and so am I, raring to go. I have been waiting for that feeling for weeks

GrandmaBatty, how joyous you sound after such an uplifting visit

Stilllearning Sun 11-May-25 09:10:01

Good morning ing from sunny South Lanarkshire, what a treat this weather is.

Thinking first of the FGTs having an anxious day and keeping them in my thoughts.

Enjoy your holiday harrigran, I hope you’re not in midgeland and can enjoy our beautiful country happily. That’s very disappointing about the lack of a welcome pack, not good at all.

So nice to hear about your lovely breakfast catch up with your DS Grandmabatty and good wishes for your cataract operation tomorrow.

Enjoy your Mother’s Day Bellasnana.

It’s lovely to watch those dance shows baubles, well maybe lovely is the wrong word but it’s good to be involved and see the children enjoying themselves!

Good luck with all your house moving preparations Grammaretto, your organisation and energy is really impressive and your ability to work so well with all your helpers, they will have good memories of their stays with you.

Enjoy your special family holiday Marydoll, you have absolutely knocked it off with the weather!

A relaxed day for me hopefully with a visit to a friend to a friend with memory problems this afternoon. They are getting worse now and her DH is doing well but beginning to show the strain a bit.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning from a sunny Co Armagh
I was up early so have a few minutes to post before my whirlwind cleaning lady arrives
I will have to tell her I spilt milk earlier ! I hope she improves upon my feeble attempts to clean up
Mass this morning , I’ll sett the candelabra alight with prayers for all my GM friends

Blossoming Sun 11-May-25 09:07:18

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. The Met Office is telling me it’s cloudy. It definitely isn’t 😊

Well done on those steps Ekwa, hope you had a good rest afterwards.

Sending best wishes to GrandmaBatty for tomorrow’s cataract operation.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your weekend away Marydoll, sounds like just what you needed.

Sending love and healing thoughts to FGT2 and her DH. Hoping for good news tomorrow.

Yesterday MrB and agreed that I should concentrate on my physio exercises as the partly paralysed leg didn’t want to cooperate. So it was a morning, and part of the afternoon, of hamstring stretches, burpees, squats and other forms of physio torture 😁 The steam trains were running, as they do every Saturday in the summer, so we watched from the open window and waved to the driver and passengers.

More exercises today and a stroll later.

As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.

Wishing all you all a peaceful Sunday🌹♥️

Good morning all. There's a bit of cloud over the Angus coast but that is forecast to have burned off by 10am. These sunny days and beautiful evening skies are so wonderful - oh that they could last forever!
It was so lovely having DS here last week, but of course I'm missing him now. But not to worry - there's lots to keep me busy.
I hope Marydoll enjoyed her visit to St Andrews yesterday. It's a while since I've been there, but it's where I went to school, and where I spent my whole teaching career (all two years of it before I went off round the world with my RAF hubby!). In 'the olden days when I was young' the students all wore their red gowns as they moved around the town between lectures - very colourful and picturesque. Happy memories.
I do hope we hear from Madeleine again soon and that all is well with her.
Enjoy your cycle ride this morning karma - and a well earned cream tea this afternoon. Sounds lovely.
Now I must be off and get some more bedding on the line - ready for more ironing! Have a good day everyone, and those of you who are feeling less than 💯, feel better in the sunshine.

Good morning from sunny N Bucks.
I have “lost” my two posts so far angry so suffice it to say I hope today will be kind to you all ! ☀️☀️☀️☀️

cornergran Sun 11-May-25 08:36:42

Morning Mick, morning All from a hazy corner of Somerset

I wasn’t sure where to,post, then figured it didn’t really matter smile. It feels warm, rain and possibly a storm forecast later. The garden could do with the water, we’ll not be here to see it as it’s a family lunch today along two motorways where it might be fine.

Pleased you’re enjoying the break maryd, todays plans sound just right.

Have the best day you can everyone.

ginny Sun 11-May-25 08:34:01

I have posted on the other thread.

I thought there were a lot of people missing and that I had missed some sort of happening .

Marydoll Sun 11-May-25 08:07:55

Good morning all from the East Neuk of Fife.

I am very confused and couldn't decide where to post, but have decided to go with the flow.

Happy Mother's Day, Bella

GMB, I was delighted to read of your meet up with your son, that must have made you very happy. 💐

The weather in St Andrew's yesterday was glorious. We didn't have as much time there, as I would have liked. DH as is his usual habit, refused to look at the satnav, nor listen to advice and the journey took much longer than it should have,
This is despite having done this journey many times in the last forty years.
I kept texting DD in the back seat, saying, Now do you know what I mean about not listening? 🤣

We hadn't seen Bbydoll for over a week, due to her being on holiday. She was so happy to see us, but even happier to see Dollie, I was no longer the Queen Bee. 🤣
After a delicious and happy family meal^, I sat on a bench, benevolently watching my girls playing in the sand and the adults playing football.
I will need to post the pictures separately, they are on my phone and the WiFi isn't great..

Today DH and DS1 are playing golf (what else would they be doing?), Babydoll and her parents are spending the morning on the beach, DD, SIL and DIl are going for a coastal walk, and Dollie is gran's carer.
Dollie is escorting me to my favourite boutique, then we are going to visit the ice cream shop for a treat,
That way everyone is catered for.
Lunch is arranged in the golf club in Anstruther, then we may play boules on the beach. A nice relaxing afternoon.

I hope you all have a pleasant day and best wishes for all in the sick bay.

Liberty Sun 11-May-25 08:00:27

Good morning from another gloriously sunny Suffolk. We shall go for our morning dog walk sooner than usual because of the heat. We get on to the field paths directly from the back gate so no hot pavements for her.

DS and family were going to pop up later but since it is an hour’s journey and the roads going to the coast will be busy, I’m going to suggest that they stay at home. DH will do a roast chicken for dinner and we’ll have a peaceful day reading and napping….him not me. I’ve decided the ironing can wait for another day.

harrigran Sun 11-May-25 07:55:29

Good morning from a cottage up a track and beside a loch in Scotland.
The weather is good and it is so peaceful.
Need to do a grocery shop this morning as the fridge is empty, all the houses we have stayed in before have had welcome packs with milk, bread, biscuits and even bottles of wine.
The house has it's own jetty and boats, owns the Loch and has invited us to fish there. Might pass on the fishing.
Have a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 11-May-25 07:52:57

Morning all from an already warm West Oxfordshire.

My knees are still aching from yesterday’s shenanigans in London! It was still a good day. The Face exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery was excellent.

Church this morning followed by lunch at our favourite riverside place. On the way home we may call into an Oxford Arts Weeks venue. There will be pots and jewellery!

Have a good day everyone. I am thinking of the FGT2S especially as they are no doubt trying not to worry about tomorrow’s appointment.

luluaugust Sun 11-May-25 07:48:14

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Unexpected surprise yesterday afternoon when DS and DIL popped in for tea and cake.
Today a chat to DB and will cook at lunchtime, hopefully a walk at some point. My tinnitus is bad at the moment I wondered if the high pollen count wasn’t helping
Best wishes to all

monk08 Sun 11-May-25 07:41:09

Good morning all from a lovely sunny Black country.
Quiet day today before our busy week ahead.
The club had a 60s and 70s evening yesterday and it was great reminiscing what the songs reminded us of places and people some no longer with us.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Grammaretto Sun 11-May-25 07:31:08

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's sunny and bright.
I made myself a mug of tea and popped outside to check on the veg garden. chased away a pigeon

This afternoon my potters are coming to do a huge clearance of my pottery studio in advance of the move to new premises.

Yesterday my Chinese Helper and I half cleared the attic and took a carload of hopefully rubbish to the tip.

She leaves later this week so I have booked us a boat trip on Wednesday.

A surveyor is coming to do the home report on Tuesday.

It does help having sunshine doesn't it. How long can it last! 🌞

I hope Marydoll is enjoying her holiday and Bellasnanna her Mother's day.

All the best wishes for those who are struggling with worries and pain. flowers

Georgesgran Sun 11-May-25 07:29:47

Good Morning from Durham. Another fine, sunny day. After yesterday’s visit to a funfair and soft play with DGS2, in theory, I’m hoping for a quiet day of pottering in the house and garden and trying to keep the weight off my foot.

Best wishes to all. X

kittylester Sun 11-May-25 07:28:01

Good morning all. North Leicestershire is bright and sunny but the heating had also kicked.

Today I have to cook some gammon while DH is at the football. This is a real needle match, apparently. We also need to water the pots and put on the watering system.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Sun 11-May-25 07:20:38

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and mild, another warm day is forecast. Yesterday was very pleasant, although still with a cooling easterly breeze. I put some of the tomato plants outside to start hardening them off, I brought them in again in the evening, I don’t want to frighten them too much! The salad leaves are coming through now and I’ll have to put my dwarf bean seeds in so I can have some fresh veggies later in the summer.
I’m going to DD1s this afternoon as they are too busy in their garden to come to me! That’s fine, but I hate driving across town on Sundays, too many cars with impatient drivers!

I hope those who are poorly feel a little better today.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-May-25 07:17:04

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° with sunshine and clouds in equal measure. Baubles the dance display sounds lovely.
Yesterday I had the sheets on the line by eight o'clock then I drove to Stirling to see ds. He lives in near a park in the traditional part of the town. We walked to the park which has a café with a good reputation. After coffee and a blether, we walked through the park and it was lovely to see how busy it was, dog walkers, children playing and a ladies football match on. Then we walked through quiet streets with avenues of trees. There was a yoga class in a grassy part too! It was very peaceful and so nice to be with my boy. He's now a director (junior partner) in the law firm he works for and I'm very proud. Back home, I ironed the bedding and remade my bed. I love the outdoor smell on bedding. My new curtains arrived and I managed to put them up then did the housework.
Today I will, yet again, prepare the house for after cataract surgery. I have a Tesco delivery coming with lots of ready meals to pop into the microwave to save me bending. Dd is determined to feed me too! I'll water the pots thoroughly as I won't be able to lift anything heavy for a while. I'm not expecting any visitors, so I shall potter about the rest of the day. Have a good day all
