I recently saw 2 Lane names that I would like to live on .

Featherbed Lane
Bumblebee Lane.

Anyone else know any addresses you'd like to live on or not ?

Nowhere else in Tasmania. They’ve got a few weird ones there. My husband used to have a job at Savage River back in the day.

In Lancs there is a 'Ralph's Wife's Lane'. I bet there's an ancient and unique story behind that.

There’s a Tom Tit Lane near me. Also a Twitty Fee but where that one came from God knows.

^I can`t remember where it was, but many years ago we saw a (very) narrow street somewhere in Cornwall, called Squeezy Belly Alley.^
That's Padstow. You need to breathe in.

I thought that was in Port Isaac?

Remember a road sign. Harwich for the continent. Under Frinton someone wrote for the incontinent!

I live in a quiet road named after an angel.

We live on a ‘Lane’ which sounds idyllic and countrified but is actually a bus route and a busy road in the London suburbs.

I thought Gants Hill was named for the medieval Le Gant family. I could be wrong.
Valentines Park was far from romantic when I lived nearby. There was a lot of flirting at the Lido though!

My sister used to live in Middle Wallop in Hampshire

I suspect it was, Magenta8 . Much of that metropolitan Essex area was developed in a fairly short timescale, roughly 1900 to 1930 so the same architect may well have been used in both places.

Come to think of it, Seven Kings Road is a pretty interesting street name. The whole area is known as Seven Kings and local historians all seem to have their own theories about how it originated, many of them fairly unlikely-sounding. Most likely, the nane evolved from Saxon times and it was Svenke's Ing, ie: Svenke's settlement.

Nearby Gants Hill is an interesting name. I once heard that it was originally Giants Hill but I don't know if it is true.

I always liked the name Valentines Park (also in North Essex). A place for lovers to stroll hand in hand perhaps.

We have a retail park near us which has a Costkea Way - with a Costco on one side and Ikea on the other. My daughter once remarked that wasn't it a coincidence for them to build both on that street! smile

There is a Pocket Handkerchief Lane not far from us and also Sheffield has a suburb called Halfway. When I was little I used to wonder why it said Halfway on the front of the bus, why did it only go halfway and where it would go if it went all the way?

My lovely Great Aunt lived in Longdogs Lane in Ottery St. Mary. I longed to live there with her as a child. I imagined it being overrun with dachshunds.

There is a Washing Pound Lane near me in Bristol, it has a small stream beside it, so presumably there is an historical laundry connection. There's also a road called Cheers Drive, which is a very Bristolian way of thanking the bus driver when you get off the bus.

There is an area outside of Bristol called Tiddlywink, who know what the origins of that is!
