Good morning. Hoping the weather is going to brighten up after being chilly and dull yesterday.
A few bits and pieces to sort this morning and a fruit cake to bake. This afternoon I’m accompanying DD2 as she chooses new kitchen units.
Refreshments at a nearby emporium afterwards.
Wishing all a good day.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 🌞 wall to wall 🌞
Beautiful peony Kalu
It will be a relief when you can hear again Greyduster
I was so busy with house things yesterday, (solicitor, architect, home report) I didn't go out anywhere except to water the greenhouse plants.
My volunteer shift at the community store this morning. I hope I'm not quite as busy as last week. My colleagues were both on holiday and I didn't get to sit down in 4 hours.
I am missing my Helper but I heard she's arrived in Ireland despite a last minute panic to print her boarding pass. My printer didn't oblige and Ryanair charges £55, I was told. She needed to have it stamped apparently
all to do with new immigration rules
I know what you mean Bellasnanna about sharing the ups and downs of our daily lives.
I'm glad your wee boy is getting better. I hope that all with pain and worries have a better day.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks like a sunny day.
After my pedicure yesterday I had a lazy day. I listened to a talk on Trafalgar Square and it was OH’s turn to cook dinner.
Next week daughter is 44 and elder son is 42 on the same day. It was my grandmother’s birthday too! I will pop into Oxford today and buy their presents. OH will visit his bees.
I hope all is well with the FGT2S.
Good morning from a sunny Durham. Back home for a holiday.
Hugs to all suffering.
Good morning from a decidedly chilly Suffolk which was the case yesterday both here and in Norfolk although the sun did put in an appearance later in the afternoon.
I had a delicious lunch and 3 hours of delightful chat with my friend. She and her husband have just booked a cruise on a ship familiar to Blue Sapphire in August to Scandanavia . They were asked if they had been recommended and when she gave our names they got a discount of over £1000 and were told that,if we phoned, we too would get a similar discount of another cruise when we booked!
I have an appointment at the hairdresser’s later this morning when I shall get an update on all the goings on in the local town.
Hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning from Dumfries and Galloway where it promises to be another lovely day.
We spent yesterday afternoon in a wetlands park, I managed with my walking stick but DD and SIL extended their walk while I rested on a bench.
We sat in the cottage garden in the evening and the owners turned up and offered us next week at half price if we would like to stay. We would love to but DD has to return to work in Brussels and I have a medical appointment.
We went into the garden and watched the ISS pass over, it was visible for a long time.
Out for lunch today and maybe a walk with more photo opportunities.
Have a good day.
Another lovely day promised so oldies’ coffee morning and then a trip to a really nice garden centre to buy some summer colour, a really happy time in prospect.
Hoping for positive news from FGT and a good day for all.
Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Trip to the bank today cheque to put in and a bill to pay, out with our Redditch friends this evening.
Nannyjan our nephew was surprised with a personal number plate for his 30th his fiancee spotted it for sale and the family all put towards it.
Have the best day you can everyone ☀️.
Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; yesterday it was cloudy and cold all day and no sunshine at all.
My gardener came and spent three hours mainly weeding and tidying borders, then did the lawn edges; but did not touch the very overgrown section I had asked him to do. A pity I didn't notice it till after he'd gone....
DS came mid-morning to deliver a late 80th birthday present and card from my oldest friend, (also his godmother), and we spent a couple of hours catching up and chatting. DGD1 was sitting her AS Level Psychology exam at lunchtime. He also looked at my faulty printer and decided it couldn't be fixed, so we ordered a new one, which he will come and set up for me next week. I rang my friend later to thank her and we had a good natter and catch-up for half an hour.
I also sorted a bag of clothes which I have put out for charity collection this morning.
Was coughing a lot yesterday afternoon, so decided not to go to dance classes this morning. I may have a gentle trip out to the shops for a top-up shop if I feel ok.
As my cough has not eased I have started a course of anti-biotics this morning (as ordered by the doctor), hoping this will clear it.
Will be making a turkey keema curry when I get back for tonight's dinner, with plenty left over to freeze. It is an old Rosemary Conley recipe, so quite healthy and always tastes good. Will add lentils to it to bulk it out.
Wishing all a pleasant.day.
Good Morning from Durham. Back to sun and blue sky today, but a high of only 15. Sis-in-Law in Cheshire is forecast 22! It makes such a difference, as my bluebells are still glorious, and while I have rosebuds, no sign of them blooming yet.
An awful couple in the next development are having their conservatory roof replaced. The builders start at 8 prompt, but it’s very noisy work.
Another part empty day, which I’m really enjoying. Mostly packed yesterday - just those little things to add tomorrow, before we jet off. Hopefully, I’ll see both DGSs before I go.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning everyone from another cool but beautiful morning on the Angus coast. The attached photo was taken around 10pm last night - I love the night sky at this time of year.
And that's just as well, as I didn't sleep much last night!
Nothing much to say other than that - I didn't sleep much on wednesday night either, so after tai chi and a grocery shop yesterday I was exhausted and nothing, but nothing, was going to keep me awake for the rest of the day. Hence the no sleep last night - it's a vicious circle !
Have a good day everyone and I shall pop back and read the thread later.
Morning from sunny S Hants, yesterday was grey and cool, probably because I had my toenails varnished.
Ouch for your back Roses mine still has a slight niggle, I hope yours improves soon, stretch class today, I’ll be wary.
Beautiful Kalu I have lots of buds and am anticipating a good display, fingers crossed.
We’ve to change our router over today, I’m hoping for a problem free switch, MrJ might do it when I’m out - she said hopefully.
Grocery delivery later and pub tonight.

Good morning from sunny N Bucks!
Bit of a blip with the weather yesterday wasn’t there? (Shades of winter drawers on!)
Back to normal today although fresh.
I had an amazing unbroken 6 1/2-7 hours sleep and feel energised for it. Probably accounted for by my driving to Birmingham on Wednesday to be with the GC while their Mummy and Daddy were gallivanting at Buckingham Palace. Then yesterday morning I walked GD to school before driving home, picking up Rosie from kennels on the way.
A brief respite at home, quick dog walk then on the road again to London for another GS’s birthday tea! DD3 and the little boys were there too, some school friends and a Mum and also his other grandfather so I am so glad I made the effort.
Fortunately the traffic was pretty good so I was home by nine but I’d done over 200 miles in the day.
Up early for a Waitrose delivery then picking up my Canadian nephew and his wife from the station for their visit. I cooked two days solid last week to fill the freezer with meals while they are here and am glad of it now.
I also have eldest GS staying for the weekend as he has exams next week and his parents and sister are driving to Belgium this afternoon/evening to watch his brother playing football for Birmingham City Under 15’s in a tournament there at the weekend.
Who said retirement was dull?
Yet to catch up with your news but with my hopes for respite and relief for all in pain or distress and my sincere wishes for the best day possible.
Hello and good morning everyone.
Yesterday the Prof said Himself is to have a permanent oesophageal stent fitted urgently next week as he can’t swallow other than liquids - so as he told us “it’s a no brainer” now. Following that, the plan is another CT scan and back on iv chemotherapy if indicated. It’s been so sudden it’s a shock but we are slowly coming to terms with it all thanks to the wonderful support of the Christie.
Thank you all very much for the kindness and good wishes. Your cheering us on from the sidelines means a lot to me. I plan a period of quiet reflection in the hope our situation improves soonest. x
FGT 💐
Good morning from Corfu. The weather is very mixed but is set to improve soon. It doesn’t make much difference as we are all so glad to be together and have laughed so much my sides are aching.
Today we are planning to take the hire car to the Empress Sissi’s palace and I’m really enjoying the good Greek food.
Thinking of FGT in this difficult time
Hope you all have a nice weekend
