Just back from our tai chi on the beach on what is turning out to be the hottest day of the year for us here. And not a whisky cloud did we see 😂😉

I posted on soops instead of this thread 🤦‍♀️ oops!

Off to take our 8 yr old GD clothes shopping for her birthday and lunch today. DH has declined the invite to join us.

Will read and catch up later 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from cloudy grey Lancashire, where the sun is trying to sneak out. Still no rain as yet.

Thank you Ashcombe, the problem was made worse by dehydration and diarrhoea which was probably caused by an infection. The hospital treated me with various antibiotics as they weren’t able to isolate the culprit and fortunately it worked. I’m recovering well now, but I still have no memory of the events of the morning when I was rushed to hospital or the first 3 weeks or so after my admission. Your comment added another piece to the jigsaw. We are all urged to cut our salt consumption, but too little is just as dangerous as too much. I hope you are doing well too. My daily breakfast banana helps with the potassium.

Yesterday’s scan appointment went well, MrB drove me to the clinic then I used my walker. The radiologist was a pleasant young Irishman, he said he will be sending a full report to my doctors. He did tell me that he could see no further damage from my recent episode, no treatment required. I should just carry on with drinking lots of water and keeping an eye on BP. Then usual monitoring via annual blood tests. This is a weight off my mind, I have had CKD for years and have tried my best to keep them from deteriorating further. MrB had indeed sneaked into Kennedy’s Chocolate Shop while out on Thursday so I enjoyed a chocolatey treat and a mint tea once we were home. I think he may be a keeper grin.

Sounds like your DH is making a good recovery Gingster.

So glad you enjoyed your day yesterday Marydoll, what a lovely family you have.

Hope FGT2 and DH are making progress with the new treatment plan.

I love reading about everyone’s daily lives - gardening , pottering, shopping and traveling. It keeps me from feeling isolated when I can’t get out and do these things myself. I have certainly learned patience over the years! I’m not a patient person by nature but life in the slow lane has its own reward.

As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.

Wishing you all a happy Saturday 🌹♥️

Taichinan

😂😂😂. That should be whispy cloud, not whisky!!

Taichinan you corrected it before I could go outside with a glass hoping for a cloud burst. 😂

Good morning everyone from Severnside.
Housework this morning and then pottering outside later.

Good wishes to you all 🌼

Just checked yesterday’s thread and caught up with FGT’s news and thinking of you both. 💐

I’m still in bed finishing a cup of tea but I must get a move on and get up and shower. Both DDs and one son in law are arriving this morning, he says he’ll be deaf by the time he gets here! Really looking forward to them coming although it’s just for a long weekend. At least the weather looks good.

Good morning from an overcast Worcester where we are off to enjoy a day on the trains. Around 25 of us in the group all saying we are never out at this hour of the morning!
Thinking of all struggling along.

GrannySomerset Sat 17-May-25 08:37:23

No plans for today apart from a lot of plants to tend. Need to decide where precisely they will go but will wait for my helpful gardener on Monday to deal with the physical business of compost and hauling big pots about. If I try my back will make life intolerable and I have learned the hard way to accept my limitations.

Thinking of FGT and all dealing with worry and struggle.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-May-25 08:35:04

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and the blue sky is appearing through the mist. Georgesgran enjoy your holiday. Marydoll sounds like a lovely day.
Yesterday I was very lazy and read or watched tv all day. Dd didn't turn up to take me to the doctor's with a letter from the hospital. I didn't remind her as she's done so much for me. I'll leave it til next week.
Today I have the excitement of a Tesco delivery! Otherwise more sitting around and reading etc. I would love to be out in the garden doing stuff but it's much too dusty. I might water some pots though.
I have realised I am not a patient person! Have a good day all

BlueSapphire Sat 17-May-25 08:28:58

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but the sun is trying to peep through the cloud, so I think it will burn off.

I took things very easy yesterday and enjoyed my shopping trip including a coffee in M&S, where I ran into a couple of friends. I got everything on my list, plus a mini meal for lunch today. I nearly came home with a new top as I spied a lovely animal print one in Next. I don't know how I resisted temptation, but if it's still there next week I may give in....

When I got home I made my turkey keema curry and put it in the slow.cooker, so I just had rice to cook later on. It was a good curry, and I have three portions to put in the freezer today.

A quiet morning at home, the dishwasher to empty, an early lunch, then out to watch rugby this afternoon. It is the last home match of the season, and we are putting out a good team in preparation for the European cup final next weekend. We cannot progress any further in the English Premiership, unfortunately, but our boys will still put heart and soul into today's match. Looking forward to meeting up with DD.and her DH at the game - we sit next to each other.
After the match we (the fans) will be allowed onto the hallowed pitch to take part in the annual presentations and farewells to departing players.

Thinking of those with worries, especially FGT2 and her DH.

Greyduster Sat 17-May-25 08:15:07

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a rather dull, cool South Yorkshire. The sun will put in an appearance later. Yesterday was blistering. I had plenty to do inside and will carry on with that today after a small food shop. I won’t buy much as I’m running my freezer down, aiming to empty it by the time we go on holiday so that I can buy a new one when we come back. I called into the garden centre yesterday on the way back from the gym and bought a bag of compost. I now have to work out how to get it out of the boot and into the garden without killing myself!
Have the best day you can, folks.

monk08 Sat 17-May-25 08:14:47

Good morning all from a dull Black country not a bit of blue in the sky.
Yesterday I changed plans and spent time gardening in the front, it also involved a good catch up with passing neighbours.
So today I must go to the bank if I'm early enough can meet with the boys after Dgs1 has finished gymnastics.
As usual Saturday full English is calling so will read everyone's happenings later, enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Georgesgran Sat 17-May-25 08:13:57

Good Morning from a grey, gloomy Durham. I’m making an effort to stay in bed until 8am now, I can’t see the purpose of getting up at 5.30 or whatever time I wake.
The case is packed, only a few cosmetics to add and we fly at 3.15. Friend’s ex is taking us to the airport - he’s unsure of the traffic (I’m not) so I know we’ll be there far too early. Still, grateful for the lift. I’m not sure how my foot will be, it still far from right and needs more rest.

My thoughts will be with the FGTs and hope next week’s op is successful.

Best wishes to all. X

Liberty Sat 17-May-25 08:12:58

Good morning from another dull chilly looking Suffolk. We seem,on this stretch of the East coast, to be paying the price of the previous 2+ weeks of glorious weather.

DDS2 is 14 today and he and SiL have gone off for the weekend for some kind of super bike festival. SiL is one of the doctors there so DGS will get to meet the riders and the officials. He has quite a talent for photography and is hoping to take some photos of the bikes I think.

DH and I are planning to visit a new cafe for coffee which is part of the shop attached to a very small chocolate factory which makes the most delicious( and expensive) chocolates. DH,a chocoholic.is hoping for delicious chocolate cakes as well as coffee.

Hope all have a good weekend, especially those who are unwell or caring for others who need support.

Taichinan Sat 17-May-25 08:12:33

😂😂😂. That should be whispy cloud, not whisky!!

Taichinan Sat 17-May-25 08:11:00

Good morning all. Off down for tai chi on the beach soon. It's a glorious sunny day with only one, streak of whisky cloud in the blue sky, but the wind is rather brisk and coming out of the north - should make balance 'interesting'!
Have a good day everyone and I hope all the people in sick bay are feeling better today.

glammagran Sat 17-May-25 08:08:54

Good morning from a soon to be sunny Wiltshire.

Well I hope so, as we are going for a BBQ at DD2’s house later. I will make a potato salad to take along. The other GP’s will be there too which will be lovely. I’m not sure it will be as warm as yesterday. The wind was incessant yesterday afternoon though.

I’m saddened the FGT’s didn’t receive better news. I wish them the very best moving forwards.

Have a good day everyone.

Gingster horse is on the mend, he looks bright and is eating. The Vet is delighted and went away with a big smile, she and my dd have worked wonders. I saw the first photo when he had colic, he was lying down and looked dead, in so much pain. The last photo was two days ago and life has come back to his eyes., his coat is looking good. Colic recently after laminitis in three feet which came on in january and caught out a lot of horse owners

His gut had moved and almost twisted. Hand feeding mash, pain killers, IV drip and bit by bit he got to his feet and the gut had a chance to move back into position. It was touch and go

He can start to build muscle after the gas bubbles in his feet have dissipated. Hè is able to wander outside at will, no grass. Miraculous recovery

Vet has known that horse since dd got him just broken at 5, now 17, no wonder she was smiling

Good morning from overcast N. Bucks. We’ll see how the weather goes. Yesterday turned out bright and sunny.

First job today is for DH to put a a curtain rail for DD2 and then I can finish off the hemming on the curtains.
A quick food shop afterwards and then a busy afternoon with DGSs 2 & 3.
They have asked to choose plants for their garden pots. So we will take them to the nursery and then home to plant them up. They made a great job of looking after them last year so hope the same for this.
Hope today brings some sunshine and smiles to you all.

Marydoll Sat 17-May-25 07:36:11

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is only 5°zc.

I was saddened to read FGT's update, but heartened and amazed by the swift response and support of the medical team.
Blossoming, I am pleased to see you making progress, keep going! 🥰

Yesterday was such an enjoyable day. We made it to the station on time, ( We usually miss the train, because I am so slow), had my £3 ready to pay for our two concession returns to Glasgow, only to be told it would be £7.50. 😱
The concessions fares have been changed. The station master asked if I hadn't been out for a while.🤣

Despite DH's allowance of a certain time shopping, the first stop as we got off the train was, Mountain Warehouse, where DH bought a load of stuff. It was 23C° outside and he bought winter fleeces. 🤣
I bought nothing, but a belt. DH was concerned that I was ill!

To my delight, I managed to eat a little food, washed down with a glass of Prosecco.
DH's idea of shall plates of delicious Italian food was an excellent one.
The streets were full of people eating outside, I have never seen anything like this, given the normal weather in Glasgow.
The only downside was the number of tourists with cases barging through very busy streets. Does no-one ever say Excuse me or sorry anymore?
The people of Glasgow are usually polite and friendly, despite its rough reputation.

Expecting Glasgow to be busy, DD had booked a table in a pub for DH and I near the station, so that DH could have a pint of Guinness they don't serve it in Italian restaurants😁, before going home.
When we got there, I saw someone waving from a seat at the window. It was DD and SIL!
I burst into tears, ( I'm doing a lot of that at the moment) when I discovered that SIL had been working from six in the morning all week to make up for the day off he took yesterday.

They wanted DH and I to have a quiet lunch together, after a busy family weekend,
DD said the had meticulously planned their own train time, lunch venue and route around the city cente in case they bumped into me and spoiled the surprise.💕
It had been by DH organised, knowing how anxious and low I am at my present medical situation. I had absolutely no inkling of it.
SIL said the reason he had been avoiding me all week was that he was afraid he would let something slip.
When I got home a book had been delivered, a translation of an ancient Roman cookbook (Ancient Rome is my favourite period in history.)
.SIL again, he always sends me unexpected, quirky gifts. 🥰

Today is First Communion for my former school. I was asked at the last minute if I could decorate the church, as I usually do. I politely declined, much to everyone 's surprise, because I never say No.
I have realised my limitations and need to slow down.
I will be on duty as sacristan this morning and at the Vigil tonight. I don't have a problem with that, for it is a great parish event and I will be able to catch up with former colleagues.

I wish you all the best day possible. Again, thank you for your support and kindness, I have been struggling, with the latest problems..

Good morning everyone from another lovely sunny day up here in Inverness
Goodness karma that would have frightened the life out of me
Have a great time at the game Sar53 and safe travels
Unless DD2 messages with any requests we’ve a free day today just to spend as we please. I think we’ll set the table and chairs up in the garden and plan a day outside. We might be tempted out somewhere for a coffee but sometimes it’s nice just to be at home
Hope your back improves a bit Roses and you can enjoy your art workshop
So good to hear of your DHs progress Gingster
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from mid Essex. It’s cloudy at the moment, hopefully it will clear later. Yesterday DD2 and the littlest granddaughter came over. DD2 did a few little tasks for me, things that I can’t reach now, like taking down some curtains and putting the spare curtains up in their place. Then we went for a coffee and cake at a new cafe that’s opened locally. Littlest devoured most of a huge carrot cupcake. It was pleasant sitting in the sun in the secluded garden.
Today I must attack the front garden. It looks nice and green, but that’s mostly weeds!

ashcombe well done for managing the bus journey on your own. Although I live on a bus route, our buses aren’t always reliable and I haven’t been on one for a number of years.

My thoughts are with those with problems and anxieties, I hope today brings some relief.
Have the best Saturday possible!

Gingster Sat 17-May-25 07:18:25

Good morning all and it’s a bit overcast but hopefully sunny later.

Yesterday was full-on with visitors. Dd came in after school, 3 therapists arrived all at once and gave Dh a good work out. They escorted him up the road with his new rollator- a funny procession - I expect the neighbours were all curtain twitching . They are all pleased with his progress and spoke about getting him back to driving and he will have to go for an assessment. I’m not rushing it 😳.

Today I have an afternoon tea in aid of cancer research. Dd and I will go and leave 9 yr old gd with dh. They will look after each other. They have phones, safety alarm and uncle 5 minutes away, so all should be well. She’s a clever girl and will be in charge. 👧👴🏼.

FGT 🙏.

Enjoy the rugby Sar.
I feel so happy for your little dog RosesandLilac. 🐶. What a lovely life youve given him. ❤️.
How is your DD’s horse now Karma?

Enjoy the day as best you can 🌼.

Jaxjacky Sat 17-May-25 07:03:59

Morning, high cloud from S Hampshire, it should lift later. Yesterday my stretch class went well, back slightly twinging this morning, just need to keep moving.
Pub was busy last night, I gave away my spare tomato plants and enjoyed a good catch up with about 6 friends.
Newspaper today, birthday cards to post and hang8ng baskets to sort out.
Enjoy the game Sar ⚽️
Thoughts with those facing a very different day.
