Which COUNTY/region would you live in, if not your own

North Yorkshire. Somewhere where I could see the moors and the sea

Somerset, it’s only semi laid back, my second daughter has her family there. Maybe Devon, rural not coastal, we’re not nautically inclined, nice to visit the seaside on a sunny day.

Back to my birth county - Cornwall . Devon at a push.

I like where I live - London, but I also like East and West Sussex.

My husband and I lived in North Yorkshire for 15 years. We used to go on camping holidays there a lot and thought it would be great to live there. We were from the Midlands originally .After my Husband passed away, my Son suggested that I moved to Lancashire to be nearer to him and his wife.It was a good idea .I am not familiar with the area but gradually getting used to it.

Sussex where I went to school.One of the little villages at the foot of the Downs,north of Brighton.My brother lives there,it is stunningly beautiful.

Isle of Mann - such a beautiful, relaxing place. We have had many happy holidays here.

Cornwall. I was born right on the Devon/Cornwall border.

North Norfolk or The New Forest.

I was brought up on the Isle of Wight and miss it very much but I'm well used to the noise and bustle of my surroundings now near London. I visited Frinton on Sea last year and I really liked it - there's a lot going on there and people were very friendly and welcoming

Monmouthshire , Pembrokeshire , Somerset , the counties of my childhood , my family and relatives .

Interesting replies! so many beautiful places mentioned here, sometimes it's hard to pinpoint just one. I do like to transpose myself sometimes in my mind's eye to living in other parts of Britain it's the Escape to the Country effect that sends me off into these realms of fantasy.

Actually I love my own too Norah, I was knocked out on Escape to the Country last week when Alistair Appleton showed the viewers around his very quirky off grid house that had amazing views over the Seven Sisters. Sussex beaches are a bit too stony for my liking though, with the exception of West Wittering. I like a sandy beach, In that respect I've enjoyed lovely walks on stunning beaches in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Wales and Holkham in Norfolk, Bamburgh, Northumberland another wow! but a bit chilly.

I like your choice of South Devon, by the beaches😃only been once but what a great part of the country to live if I had the choice.
I saw the ETTC programme with Alistair Appleton’s off grid house by the sea, stunning.I was a bit cast down tho, finding that he’s gay as if it didn’t work out with DP I had earmarked Alistair for my next great romance 🥰😲🤭

Good Luck with your house move Monica it sounds a practical choice but also a good one, Cambridge has a lot to offer and being near your DD will be lovely.Always hard to leave a place tho when you’ve lived there a long time.Hope you’ll be very happy in your new home.

I'm staying in scruffy old suburban East London. Bus, train, tube, shops within limping distance. Car not essential. Anything medically non-trivial gets referred to Barts or the Royal London Hospital. Cemetery up the road.

Moved from Essex, by the sea, a couple of years ago to be nearer to my DS & DDiL for health reasons! Would move back if I could take my family back with me! Would upset the GC because they are settled well at school. My DDiL could get a Vet Nurse job easily & my DS can turn his hand to a few things. So would be off there if not for my lovely GC. Always come first till they are grown more!

I live in Edinburgh which is a lovely city in lots of ways albeit usually chilly.
However, I’ve always fancied Somerset, Devon or Cornwall, but sadly I hear they hate incomers!

Shrewsbury, Shropshire. My children were born and brought up there, but I moved away in 2007. No coastline though, so perhaps the county of my birth, Devon. As another poster said, the home of my ancestors going back centuries

I like attractive market towns within easy reach of London. A good selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, plus a handy train station. Somewhere like St Albans, or maybe Saffron Walden. Bury St Edmunds is nice, but not as near to the capital. Having said that Broadstairs is lovely with the bonus of the coast, but again further to London.

Essex, I would return to Essex, I lo ed the flat lands.

Suffolk - flat and reasonably dry compared to the wet and windy West Country where I live!
