Which COUNTY/region would you live in, if not your own

I missed out I woukd choose to be in Devon

Trouble with Norfolk is you have to travel a long way before you get out of it and on your way, to wherever. At least that’s what my friend who moved to N.orth Norfolk 30 years ago, says, but she woukdnt come back to our ridiculously busy, crowded, expensive part of the country, and is very happy there.
I would love to move away from the south east, somewhere quieter and beautiful, be a furriner in perhaps , but probably too late now, couldn’t face the stress of it all,

I would not enjoy the scenery living in the south east of the UK, as I find the landscape dull. I like mountains, or if not, big hills. If I had to leave Wales, I’d choose the Lake District, North Yorkshire, or Derbyshire. I like Scotland too, but further north the weather is even wetter and colder than it is in Wales.

Devon. I'm not that far from the Lake District so that would come a close second as I love it. But Devon for the climate, sea and way of life. It just seems different.

Not surprised that my county crops up again and again. Norfolk has everything ….. fabulous deserted beaches, marshland, heathland, forests, ancient woodlands, The Broads.

We are famed for our “big skies” (especially in North Norfolk), we have no horrible motorways, our villages and market towns are beautiful and we are not densely populated.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to be born and bred here.

Somewhere "towards" the west coast.
Almost certainly Wales.
I'd be fairly happy just a bit further west than I am though I think.

If I'm with my husband I could probably settle fairly easily. It would be different if I was alone.

We moved from wonderful Hexham in Northumberland to the Peak District to be nearer family. We’re both northerners so this is the furthest South we’ve ever lived ! The walking (which is my passion) is lovely and being near family is perfect. But we are a long way from the sea - our other passion being sailing - so have a boat on the west coast of Scotland which would have been our preferred place to live some years ago but not now we’re in our late 60’s ! We miss Hexham very much as it had everything you could possibly need and Northumberland is a beautiful and quiet county with excellent health care .However we have been warmly welcomed by our new community and made a lot of new friends . It is so much busier though !

Yes I was carried away by the position and outlook, without factoring in every day practicalities, but that's Escape for you, it often sends me off into the realms of fantasy

I love North Norfolk, the sea, countryside and the people but I think my heart is still in the East End in London!

I m lucky enough to live in North Yorkshire and I love it but would happily move to the Northumberland coast which is beautiful or further south Dorset perhaps

I’d move back to Sussex where I lived until I was in my early 30s. Lewes.
I moved to Devon 2 years ago. Lovely to be back by the sea after 5 years in the wilderness of south Cotswolds, after 40 years in coastal Scotland, but I don’t like it and haven’t settled. Too big, too noisy, too many people and most don’t talk as they do in villages. I’ve only met one neighbour, the rest look at me with surprise as if I’m something the cat brought in 🤪. But, I’m close to DD3 who has been wonderful since my BIG op last year, and there’s no family left in Sussex so, unless a miracle happens, it looks as if I’m here to stay.

I moved to Devon aged 21 and was a furriner until I married a Devon boy, I was accepted then and in fact lots of other furriners were moving there too. I didn't want to leave, would have gone back were it not for family near where we are now, which is lovely, but not near the coast.

Moved from Essex, by the sea, a couple of years ago to be nearer to my DS & DDiL for health reasons! Would move back if I could take my family back with me! Would upset the GC because they are settled well at school. My DDiL could get a Vet Nurse job easily & my DS can turn his hand to a few things. So would be off there if not for my lovely GC. Always come first till they are grown more!

When my grandchildren were small, my husband and I had the opportunity to move from Kent to Pembrokeshire where I desperately wanted to live. I had spent all my childhood holidays there with my Grandparents and adored it. However, when push came to shove, we just couldn’t leave our young grandchildren, so we stayed here. The plan then was to move to Wales once they were older and at school. Fail! We still couldn’t do it.
They are grown now with children of their own, added to which, I now have a great-grandchild. (My husband died five years ago, sadly), and I am going nowhere! But I love them so much, it really doesn’t matter!

Norfolk

Anywhere in Hereford, it’s a lovely county. East Sussex and Suffolk too. But that’s just fantasy. I need to live where I do because of the many facilities I now need and the easy journey into London for whatever reason.

Anglesey or Northumberland as both so beautiful with fantastic coastlines. I would have e moved years back apart from my husbands reluctance. Great regret.

I would go back to Cornwall, where I lived for 25 years, but I'm to involved with my family now.

I have always lived in Cornwall, and I don't think I would move, but other places I like are Devon, South Yorkshire, South Wales and London.

I was born in London and I would love to live there again but I couldn't even afford a garage if I wanted to return to live anywhere near where I was brought up.

I loved the London buzz and like you no chance. But I would love to return to Swansea which has a buzz of its own, and so friendly with all of the scenery and beaches on my doorstep. Not forgetting Joe's ice cream

I have family and friends all over the country and have sometimes wondered if I could see myself living there. Some places l definitely could - others not so much, even though I enjoy visiting. One place that springs to mind is Devon, where some of my friends live. It is a beautiful county and we have had many lovely holidays down there but it is very remote and far from everywhere else - although not as much as Cornwall - and the congestion in the summer is very high. Now to where l would live if I didn't live in the beautiful place I now live in. First choice, in a heartbeat, would be my childhood county of Norfolk. I think other places l would like would be Derbyshire, the Peak District, the Malvern Hills of Worcestershire, Cumbria or North Yorkshire.

So many beautiful places to choose from. I love Yorkshire. Then again Northumbria is stunning. The Scottish borders and the beautiful town of Kelso is undoubtedly in the running. But this morning as I drove along the coastal road to work and watched three yachts sailing out of Kirkcudbright along the River Dee I thought this truly is perfection!
