Hello kitchen people.

I’m thinking of you both FGTS. Such a difficult time.🪻

I went to our tiny church this morning. Just the vicar and his wife, the Churchwarden and me!

OH and I had lunch out. Once back home I read the papers and did a little admin. I’ve paid for the second Royal Academy print and it will be sent at the end of August. I think it will go in my bedroom.

My left big toe is a little better. I’ll leave it for another day or so.

Sleep 💤 tight.

You do sound more relaxed fgt. Sleep well. Love to you and your husband.

How are you and your husband sued? It seems a worried time of year.

It should have been a quiet, routine sort of a day here. It was until Mr C reached out for a full glass of very decent red wine which somehow flung itself across the living room. Our carpet is described as almond which means a very pale cream/grey in reality, a red wine stain is a contrast too far. It took an hour but the carpet can remain. Mr C is very embarrassed, I’m just relieved.

Hope those struggling to reach family will succeed. Goodnight all

FGT it certainly has not been easy and you have better things to do than hospital visiting and with luck himself will be at home.

It rained during the night here, and it was totally dry throughout the day. A neighbour got in touch, worried his house may have floated away because he had heard about torrential downpours. I was washing and drying clothes as well as enjoying the sunshine pm. It was dull and grim am.

Look after yourselves.

Just a wee update on Dh as people have kindly asked. His latest treatment has been delayed to allow him to fully recover from having Covid a couple of weeks ago, so we’ll be heading to the hospital this coming Thursday (assuming Tues blood test is ok). Then a scan and he sees the specialist in August to see what is recommended next.

In other news, ds’s recent treatment has either stabilised or shrunk the areas of concern so that was good to hear. I do find it hard to accept that he’ll never be rid of this disease, though.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 21-Jul-25 02:38:49

What a worrying time for you SueDonim a double whammy.
Life can seem so cruel at times.
I hope you get some positive news on both your loved ones.
I have had a couple of hours sleep but wide awake now.
I have done a Sainsbury’s order for delivery on Tuesday and will read some more of my kindle book now.
I hope you are all fast asleep and enjoying the much cooler night.

Just popped in to send kind thoughts to FGT and SueD

Grannydaisy1 Mon 21-Jul-25 08:25:18

SueDonim sending hugs

Nannytopsy Mon 21-Jul-25 15:49:04

Another sending hugs to SueD & the FGTs. I hope all goes well with your menfolk.
We have had 30mm rain since Thursday and although it’s sunny now, there is more to come I think. The courgettes have doubled in size while we have been away for the weekend!
We are just off to Tesco - no real food in the fridge.

Blossoming Mon 21-Jul-25 16:15:01

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Good news about your son SueD, though it could have been better. Hope all goes well for your DH on Thursday.

It’s a beautiful sunny day here, despite a gloomy forecast. We enjoyed our usual walk down to the Dock gates, then when we got home I sorted out a problem on MrB’s mobile. He is not a techy and tends to turn to me for any problems. I like being able to help him a little in return for all he does for me. This afternoon I am trying to make a beaded bracelet. I used to do a lot of one handed jewellery making but haven’t done anything creative since my latest illness and hospitalisation. I have chosen to use the tiniest beads possible so this good take some time! Have a lovely evening everyone xx

Good afternoon from a warm and occasionally sunny Stockport.
I took myself to our local park after lunch, it is 5 mins from me on my scooter.
It was lovely sitting in the sun with a cup of tea from the cafe in the corner, watching the children on the play area.
We are so lucky with this facility on our doorstep,
I have just cooked two salmon fillets in the air fryer.
One tonight with salad and one tomorrow with new potatoes which hopefully Sainsbury’s will deliver tomorrow afternoon.
I hope all our poorlies are ok and their carers are coping.
I remember so well the years looking after my H when just every so often I felt trapped but obviously wouldn’t have had it any other way at the time.
Sorry if that sounds selfish but caring long term is very hard as some of you will know.
Kindest wishes to you all.
Thunder just rolled overhead, so pleased I am indoors.

kittylester Mon 21-Jul-25 17:12:47

Can I send healing vibes to all the poorly menfolk too - wishing them well and good news soon.

Echoing UTBB's thoughts, those of you caring must give yourselves a bit of breathing space too. It's the oxygen mask principle- looks after yourselves to better look after your loved ones.

And, one of these days UTBB, I will forget and call you Ann.

We are just back from Sainsbury's where we have been stocking up with wine in their 25% off offer.

We got caught in the most tremendous hailstorm and had to stop driving for a while as the visibility was so bad.

Safely home with brew, biscuits and the crossword now.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 21-Jul-25 18:36:03

I also took advantage of the 25% off wine kitty it was on Sainsbury’s Specially selected so I decided to just get some red I did not know.
I got a particularly nice Portuguese red, so nice I ordered another three bottles, a good experiment for me.
It has absolutely poured down this last hour of so.
No watering needed here tonight.

Blossoming Mon 21-Jul-25 18:47:19

Usedtobeblonde It does worry me how much care I now need from MrB as I become increasingly more dependent. I do encourage him to do his own thing and I try to do as much as I can but I feel terribly guilty about becoming such a burden.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 21-Jul-25 18:52:24

The teens have ordered Domino’s for their dinner (curtesy if the bank of Granny) I have got a jacket potato with tuna and a large bowl of salad.

Their garden which was brown and patchy, is now practically a brown bog, we have had so much rain in the last 48 hours. An extremely noisy thunder storm has just been over us, torrential rain bouncing off of the pavement, overhead thunder and lightning.

I have cracked open a bottle of Gavi, they have Pepsi Max 🙋‍♀️

Usedtobeblonde Mon 21-Jul-25 19:17:26

Blossoming oh dear I am concerned that I have upset you now, but as I said, I wouldn’t have had it any other way while I was doing the caring.
I am quite sure your DH considers it a privilege to look after you and we know by your posts you do as much as you can to help yourself.
If I have upset you please accept my profound apologies.
It really was me posting without thinking.

Redcar Mon 21-Jul-25 19:30:55

Hello everyone, we’ve just had a brief thunderstorm, the first one, although thunderstorms have been forecast for three days!
I had about 20 hollyhocks of different colours and all self seeded, they were about 8 feet tall, but they are now leaning at odd angles and some are kissing the ground. I’ll leave them for a few days but will probably have to cut them down.

fgt I’m sorry that life is so very difficult for you and your DH at the moment, but hope that he has turned the corner and will be feeling better soon. Look after yourself.

sueD I hope your DH is able to have his next lot of treatment on Thursday as planned.

I had an omelette for dinner with home grown dwarf beans, very tasty. Oh and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc to wash it down!

Enjoy the evening everyone.

Blossoming Mon 21-Jul-25 19:38:37

You haven’t upset me Usedtobeblonde it’s something that’s been on my mind lately.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 21-Jul-25 19:40:01

Thank you xx

GrannyGravy13 Mon 21-Jul-25 20:23:33

It is currently raining heavily in the back garden and not a single drop is falling in the front garden 🤷‍♀️

brook2704 Mon 21-Jul-25 20:23:52

No thunderstorms here thankfully but non stop rain most of the day
We had DGS stay over last night, he was awake about 7 and eventually got up about 9.30 - gone are the early morning starts with him! They do grow up so quickly, it’s interesting so see how he’s changing atm, becoming a little bit shy and awkward now but I still got a big lovely hug when he left ❤️
I had my dentist check up this afternoon, in and out within 10 mins and thankfully all ok. Just a few 1s and 2s which I think are mainly ok
Thank you for your update SueD I hope your DHs treatment goes well on Thursday and your DS continues to do well
Hi 👋 to all in the quiet corner, take care everyone x

brook2704 Mon 21-Jul-25 20:26:48

Strange GG ! 🤣

grannyqueenie Mon 21-Jul-25 20:30:01

usedtobeblonde I remember you well in your previous incarnation! I’d noticed you weren’t around and wondered if you’d been banned for doing nothing much wrong, as sometimes seems to happen! (Hope I’m not banned for saying that!!) I don’t pop in here often enough to have recognised the new you as Ann! I’m glad you’re back, albeit in disguise.and still enjoying life! 🥰 These flowers have been making me smile since I was given them on Saturday after babysitting my little goddaughter! Hope they make you smile too! x

I am glad we are drinking our way around the wines of Europe! I am fond of Gavi but tonight it’s a white Rioja.
Sleep well everyone!
