A mixed day here at Gravy Grange, I have done a lot of jobs which didn’t need doing, pitting off the ones that definitely needed doing.

We ended up going out for a late Sunday lunch, which was very tasty.

Early start tomorrow, new alarm system being fitted first thing, cleaning fairies are here also. I am hoping to get to the gym, but we will see.

Jaxjacky and Grandmabatty I still cannot kneel on my left knee that I injured in February, slowly trying to weight bare a bit more each day.

jaxjacky and grandmabatty I haven’t been able to get on my knees for about a year. I’m desperate to be able to get down on the ground so I can clean the shower tray properly! I think I could get down, but not at all sure I could get up again.
I transplanted most of the tomato plants into big pots, but now need more compost to finish the rest.
I didn’t prune the forsythia as it will involve getting in amongst other large shrubs. The ground is very dry again, hopefully we’ll have some more rain this week.

Night night everyone.

brook2704 Sun 01-Jun-25 22:21:33

Thank you Jax
Llfl hoping you’ve been feeling a bit better today ❤️
Hope your knees are ok grandmabatty, take it easy if you can before starting any exercises!
Another busy day here but all good. I had a lovely FaceTime chat with DS, he’s very busy with his work at school but seems to enjoy it. He’s very good at keeping in touch even though we don’t get so see each other that much. DD1 and family have all enjoyed their holiday in sunny Croatia and are home safely, back to reality for them all tomorrow
I’m off to bed soon, thinking of everyone in the quiet corner and sleep well all x

It was my birthday today, 82, flipping heck!! I went out for a meal with some of my family, 18 of us in all, then tonight I was talked into going to Bingo with 2 daughters and a friend, didn`t win though!

Grandmabatty Mon 02-Jun-25 06:21:59

Happy belated birthday Hello girl

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 02-Jun-25 07:51:07

Hello kitchen people. Thank you for your concern. I am still feeling low - mainly about the impasse between my sons, but life must go on.

I hope the Soops had/are having a lovely time with their family.

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Jun-25 07:57:05

Belated Happy Birthday 🎂🥳🥂 Hellogirl glad you enjoyed your day.

A quick pop in to say I haven't forgotten you. It's been a bit manic to say the least. A former colleague of DH came to stay with her 9 year old daughter last week which was lovely. I was given make up tutorials each morning by the little one and my routine was scrutinised minutely. They had only been here a few hours when my voice became croaky and had disappeared by the next day so I sort of squeeked through the rest of their stay. Luckily it didn't stop my operation going ahead on Thursday . It was a bit touch and go whether I'd make the orthopedic appointment the next day but I did and the hip revision will be happening sometime post wedding. The wedding is approaching at speed...DH and his best man have their suits now and I've ordered 2 pairs of shoes from Vinted in the hope that one of them will be ok. If recovering from surgery and losing my voice wasn't enough yesterday I must have bent or twisted awkwardly ( and upset the pins in my back) and my right hip /lower back is really sore. Grrrrr.
Sending love to you all. I remember you all in my prayers even if I'm not posting.

hulahoop Mon 02-Jun-25 11:04:21

Happy Birthday Mrhulahoop 🎂🥳
Nine calls on the voluntary phone today, all now matched up with lifts.
It’s been a lovely sun/cloud day, we’ve just watered, but I'm hoping for some decent rain this week, we sorely need it.
Quiz tonight, fingers are crossed.
A busy week ahead Yia not the most pleasant either, best of luck.

I’ve had a busy day gardening today, quite a lot done so I’m pleased. I should have gone to the gym but decided mid morning to stay home instead and spend the day gardening whilst the weather was good
Hoping everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, take care all

Good evening Kitcheners. A long day for me. Got the boys up, dressed, fed and dropped off at school. Then I worked for an hour and a half in the school library. It was good to get back to a routine. Back home to empty and load the dishwasher, hoover and wash a cushion cover and towels. Then reverse, pick up the boys and brought them to my house. They are everything they could like locusts. I took dgs1 to his football training and took dgs2 home. Unfortunately he fell asleep in the car and was very upset when I woke him. Then he didn't want me to go home. Poor wee man. I've had dinner and tidied up. I'm watching a new series called Department Q. The language is a bit salty but it's really good. Early start tomorrow so early night tonight. Take care all

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Jun-25 22:28:59

You are back with a vengeance Grandmabatty!
Good plan brk I was nipping in and out planting lettuce and sunflowers between phone calls.
We came third at quiz!! That’s two weeks we’ve been placed, lottery ticket tomorrow 🙂

OH’s bait hive attracted another swarm of bees yesterday! One of his beekeeping friends loss his bees recently, so he might pass these on.

brook2704 Tue 03-Jun-25 18:20:47

I don’t know anything about bees llfl but it sounds a very interesting hobby
Well done with 3rd place Jax you’re on the podium 👍
Phew grandmabatty!
It’s been a mixed day weather wise, one minute sunshine and then rain, still very windy. I did an aerobics class at the gym then 4 of us went for coffee and a chat afterwards, so a lovely afternoon. 10 year old DGD is having a bad time at school just now, lots of tears and not wanting to go. Apparently there’s a group of girls who aren’t bringing very nice to her but of course that’s just one side of the story. DD2 has spoken to the school so hopefully things will improve from now on, fingers crossed.
A quick pasta and homemade sauce for dinner soon, the veg are roasting then I’ll just add tomatoes.
Hope everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, sending hugs, take care all

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Jun-25 18:34:06

Your poor granddaughter brook. The mean girls start early.
Today I picked up the boys. Dgs1 wanted honey nut flakes which he duly got. Dgs2 didn't want anything. He eventually had half a scone on jam and some chocolate milk. They were dropped off and dgs1 told me about the scary house we pass every time. Dgs2 decided to embroidery it and the house has vampires which come out at Halloween! Apparently his best wee pal told him. She has a big sister so you can guess where the story originated 🤣. Back home, I tidied up the kitchen and got to work on sorting out their room. I haven't finished but it's well on its way. I picked them up and dgs1's teacher said she had assessed his reading and he is moving up books. He was very happy about that.
Back home and both were drawing then I took them home. Dgs1 has a swimming lesson. I sat with dgs2 til Dsil came home. Dgs2 didn't want me to go home and said he would miss me. Doesn't that make you happy? I headed home, cleaned up again and hoovered. Then made mince and tatties. So a pleasant day all told. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 03-Jun-25 18:40:28

Aw, a heartwarming day indeed Grandmabatty. I love your stories about your wee boys. Your love for them and theirs for you is palpable. x

Nannytopsy Tue 03-Jun-25 18:45:47

A good day Grandmabatty. I have cleaned and tidied the sitting room for the WI committee meeting and made them lemon drizzle cake.
I refrained 😇 !
Walked the granddog, who only wanted to eat one bouncy young dog. Sometimes she is very friendly and sometimes she isn’t! We take her home on Saturday - phew!
Car service tomorrow, with a hint of shopping while we are in town. We are about 10 miles away, so if we go in, we make the most of it. We have booked a courtesy car.
Have a good evening everyone.

Good evening Kitchen friends. MrB had an appointment at the cardiovascular clinic yesterday. This was a follow up from his fainting spells last year. The results were all fine, he is no longer having ‘turns’ and they were happy to discharge him, Today we have been out for a pub lunch, the first meal out since my release from hospital. The premises were easily accessible with my tri walker, the food was delicious but I only managed to eat about half of it. It was quite a big portion, must remember to stick to the light bite menu next time!

Feeling sleepy, have a restful night all ♥️

brook2704 Tue 03-Jun-25 19:14:07

Such a lovely day grandmabatty with your little superheroes
That’s willpower indeed nannytopsy I don’t think I could have resisted

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Jun-25 19:27:58

Thank you ladies. I have a small life. It isn't full of excitement and I won't be remembered as being famous, but I'm generally content . Nice to hear from you FGT.
