Daft thing I found in Facebook. Hard to imagine anyone coming up with this and going to the lengths of making a poster. I'm glad they did though. It made me laugh

We always reckoned my friend was a swan because she was very serene on the surface but paddling like fury underneath 😂

Luminance Thu 22-May-25 18:30:59

Oh, well, I am already fully qualified it seems. Ha

Aveline Thu 22-May-25 18:33:43

But can you honk Luminance?

Luminance Thu 22-May-25 18:45:43

Ha!

Grandma70s Thu 22-May-25 18:46:49

I thought geese honked, not swans. Swans make little sound until the end of their lives, hence “swan song”.

Grandma70s, we have a pair of swans that nest on one of our local rivers and they definitely make a sound when anyone gets too close to their nest - a loud hissing noise together with much flapping of wings!

I would enjoy gliding serenely. I might apply.

Do they teach landing on water? It's so funny!

Polly7 Sun 25-May-25 14:35:05

I'd love to apply
Watched tv yest how they use wings to take flight! So graceful and peaceful up there

Just watched ‘The Wild Robot’ ( Sky) this weekend… lovely tale about a Robot teaching a young gosling to eat swim and fly, etc
Recommended for young kids of nearly 80 like me!

Me a swan...ah go on😁

Grammaretto Sun 25-May-25 14:54:31

You could be a poet though olderme!

I would like to come back as a bird if I get the choice. A puffin? Maybe not a Swan although they are beautiful and graceful.
Blackbirds sing sweetly. Hmm. Choices 😂🤣

It would probably take more than turning me into a Swan to make me glide serenely!

Grammaretto Sun 25-May-25 14:56:08

Here's a little family I saw last week.

Chrissie7 Sun 25-May-25 15:14:33

I 'heard' Danny Kaye's voice when I read this! Were you giving a nod to the Ugly Duckling song?

CariadAgain Sun 25-May-25 15:16:29

Brings a whole new take to the pervasive "self-identification" lark that's going on currently....

Chrissie7 Sun 25-May-25 15:16:35

Sorry that was to Olderme about "Me? A Swan? Oh, go on"

Whingey Sun 25-May-25 19:32:03

I honked and stunk the flat out!

Yes it was...Loved Danny Kaye. Every time I hear the word swan, I think of that phrase.

I watched that too! It was rather sweet. I'm not far off 69

Tuckshop Tue 27-May-25 16:57:05

I misread it and thought at first glance it said "swain" but I am definitely the wrong sex for that!
