Fabric Repair Powder

Possibly petra, I do wear sweatshirts when it’s cold, but I’d still have to repair the holes. I do think jersey is particularly prone to them.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper and easier to wear an old jumper? Just a thought.

No, it was on a cotton tear, it did look really good when it was done. I knew about the bonding tape stuff you use for hems, but I’d never heard of powder before.

I know that my mum had a powder from an "Ideal Home exhibition" in the early 1970s.
She used it to mend a cigarette burn in a suit.
She collected a pile of fibres from the seam allowance (with a metal suede brush and some embroidery scissors I think??) and put them with the powder in the hole. Then she ironed it between paper.

It worked pretty well - you could see it if you were looking for it but as it was a flecked woolen suiting it was well disguised.

I'd be interested in trying it if it's similar.
I'm not sure I'd use it on knitted fabrics though.
Was the YouTube video demonstrating on knits?

Has anybody tried this? I saw a piece on YouTube about it, it apparently bonds small holes in clothes invisibly. I hadn’t heard of it before, but I’m forever mending holes in cotton jersey t-shirts where I’ve caught them on bushes in the garden and I wondered if it would be a better option.
