Good Morning Wednesday 28th May 2025

Yesterday was frustrating as the young man who arrived to fit my solar panels found he had been given the wrong kit (why not check before setting off on a three hour drive?) so will be here on Thursday instead. The electrician arrived though so all that part of the work is done. What do we bet that it rains for forty days once the system is up and running?

My car was collected for its bodywork repairs, a week after the incident. I could be without it for two weeks, so life may be a bit complicated and think I will need to tackle on line grocery shopping. One way and another life feels really complicated.

I went to Spar and paid £1.25 for a New Kitkat Salted Caramel bar and the same price for a Hazelnut version.

They're OK but not my favourite so I'll give them each 6 out of 10!

I was sat at the kitchen table about 2:15am with mugs of PG Tips and a tin of Heinz macaroni cheese .... cold, straight from the tin ... binge watching horror/psycho movies and the top one for me was The Traveler with the late great Val Kilmer as Mr. Nobody. He was fantastic and played the evil character very well. Lots of blood and gore, violence and and a large amount of swearing, the stunts and special effects and twitchy nerve atmosphere were amazing!

I'm back on duty tonight from 6pm to 6am, maybe longer depending if I have to cover other shifts!

Good morning from Giffnock where yet another cat seems to think I’m pleased to see him.

All quiet here, DD5 has departed for her new ‘job’ although in fact she will be self employed. I wish she had taken a wee break after leaving her NHS job, it was a huge decision and she is tired.

Ash, I think you will be interested in this, my best pal’s grandson has been picked as the new Harry Potter in the BBC series. He is a lovely boy and she would be so happy. She died nine years ago and typical of her family, just like your friends Bellasnana they have kept me included in their lives which has meant so much. Coincidentally I’m having a meal tonight with all her brothers and sisters (there are eight of them left), we meet up every six months or so.

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast.
To my surprise, I found I was ‘on the desk’ at the music club after my hols and joked I had forgotten everyone’s names…
What I had forgotten was the flower in my hair for a gypsy song (Golden Earrings), a minor tragedy😢. The song comes from an old film with Marlene Dietrich playing a gypsy, a leap of the imagination.

Then back to earth with a trip into the village for a few groceries, a FaceTime with Dsister in the south and a discussion about our intended trip to New York sometime. We’d better get on with it while we can.

My car insurance company have given me a new price for an automatic renewal and it’s over a hundred pounds cheaper than last year, so I’m going with it so don’t have to faff around.

Glammagran, my husband is a great support. I am never on my own with BabyD.
It is only one day a week, nothing like what we did with Dollie.
I just want to maintain a relationship with my granddaughter. However, my other children and their partners are urging me to call it a day. 😪

Sallyforth we saw a couple of mallards sheltering from the rain under a shrub in a neighbouring garden yesterday.

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

I wasn’t in a very good mood yesterday morning. The news from Liverpool was upsetting and I was awaiting a call from my GP surgery about my kidney scan results. I’m guessing you’re busy with pre-holiday stuff. I was dreading it in case it was the dreadful doctor that nearly killed me. It was one of the nurses that I have spoken to before, a lovely lady. She ran through the results with me then said it’s time for my annual bloods. I was a bit flummoxed as I have had so many blood tests over the last 6 months but I didn’t argue. It will be good to get a baseline. I told her I can’t use any of the blood test centres as I’m not mobile and she said no problem, I will get someone to come to you! So she’s done a phlebotomist referral and someone will phone me to arrange a visit. It was that simple and I was so relieved.

It rained most of the day, but the gale force winds have disappeared for now. During a break in the rain MrB and I went for a walk down to the lock gates. It felt so good to be out in the fresh air. Of course it started raining again before we got home but we didn’t care. It was quite pleasant to feel alive.

I have rambled on quite long enough so I shall go and read the thread properly.

As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.

I hope today is a better day for us all ♥️

Good morning all. The sun is peeping out from behind clouds so hoping for a better day than yesterday when it was cold and on off rain all day. I put my electric throw over myself last night for the first time since the beginning of April.

Ocado delivery this morning and hope to get out for a walk later.

DD2 and family arrived back from Lanzarote last night just before midnight so they’ll be very tired. I won’t disturb them today.

Photos were taken by DD1 and her DH from the King’s Road and Sloane Square last week where they went to see all the floral displays. They didn’t go to the flower show itself this year as they are going to Wimbledon instead with tickets for No 1 court at the end of the first week as a birthday present for her from her DH.

I wish Marydoll’s ongoing problems would get resolved. I’ll never know how she musters up the energy to look after Babydoll. I hope Gingsters’s DD is released from hospital quickly.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very wet morning in Cheshire. In fact some would say it's raining cats and dogs and has been dancing down for hours, Parched areas of the lawn are greening up nicely though.

There is a male and a female Mallard on my neighbour's roof, They have suddenly started visiting our gardens from a pond in the nearby woods. I imagine they're the only ones round here happy with the weather today,

The fountain in the garden is almost overflowing, I will have to go and take some water out in case the goldfish accidentally swim out onto path.

Good morning everyone from a changeable Northampton, sunny one minute, cloudy the next; nevertheless I have put the towels in the washing machine, will cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Was busy yesterday and got most of my planned jobs done, (and some unplanned!). Vacuumed.downstairs, then cleaned the bedroom windows, damp-dusted the bedrooms then vacuumed upstairs. Also cleaned the mid-landing window, then set to and vacuumed the stairs. Decided a picture of DH next to my bed looked very faded and needed replacing, so spent an hour or so going through shoe boxes of photos to find a replacement; cue lots of bittersweet memories. Found one of when we lived in Singapore (before we were married), a very handsome young man in his late 20s!

Had a late lunch and read the newspaper. A torrential downpour then ensued, so did not venture out to our well-being walk. So I sat and finished my Thomas Ripley novel; shall have a rest from those for now.

Book club this afternoon where we shall discuss 'Cahokia Jazz' (by Francis Spufford). Read it before my cruise so hope I can dredge some thoughts up from my memory of it!

Morning from sun/cloud in S Hants, we too had plenty of welcome rain yesterday, so the downstairs had a thorough clean through. Then I went to the M&S food hall, mainly for their wheat biscuits, I left with them, quiche, blueberries, carrots and some flowers.
Today is book club, I have some linen trousers to pick up too.
I’m pleased your daughter is home Gingster and her scan clear.
Dinner is chicken casserole, after two days of bbq food I need some vegetables.

Chiropodist first, then yarn group which includes sewing and chatting, and later to Edinburgh University for a lecture on Scottish literature organised by my young friend who arrived last night and hasn't emerged yet for breakfast.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10 °C.

Kalu, I always find it strange that we live so close to each other, but our weather can be so different.
When I was working, I used to warn colleagues, who lived in your area, that we had snow. Our school was quite high up and their journey was on a winding, country road. They used to message back that, saying the weather was fine where they are.

I have no plans to go out today, apart from opening up church tonight for the Ascension Vigil Mass.
I feel really weary and out of sorts, but have no idea what is wrong with me.

Yesterday DD appeared first thing with a stash of bargains from the Company shop.
Steak mince for £1 was one example. Instead of resting, I ended up batch baking. She had bought goats cheese (20p) and asked ifcI could make goats cheese tarts for her, I made a small one for myself and actually managed to eat it.
At the most she had spent £10 for over £50 worth of fresh food, which was nearing its sell by date.

I popped out to get new wellies for Babydoll, because she is growing at an alarming rate.
Although I wasn't planning to buy much, I took a trolley, it is a great substitute for a walking aid.
Just as I entered the shop, I spotted my friend and her daughter. Her BIL's funeral is on Friday and she had some concerns about the service, as our new P.P seems to be really forgetful. It is causing all sorts of situations and miscommunication for my fellow sacristans.. I said that I would keep my eye out for any issues on the morning of the funeral.
I was so embarrassed, as I was struggling to speak and my voice has become so hoarse. She had realised how bad my mouth is.
Apparently, the waiting list for urgent dental appointments is three months. 😪

As I turned to go, I noticed that my trolley, complete with £1 coin had been taken by someone. It was right beside me, next to rails of clothes. I was fuming, for I was struggling and didn't have my stick to hold on to.
Why would someone do that?

DD is coming today, with clothes to be altered, she cannot sew to save herself. I don't know what she will do, when I die, she is short like me and can never get trousers to fit.
I hope she is not early, I have been trying to tidy the spare room for days and also have Discosure forms to submit for parishioners.

Pants, I have never tried rascals, I must look for a recipe.
Susan, I hope you have a lovely day with your family and Baubles, I do like, Portobello beach! I am trying to persuade DH to spend a few days in Edinburgh, before the school holidays. He doesn't think I am well enough. 😒

Yesterday was a quiet day with a lot of reading a d some TV.
During the afternoon I thought I might take a little walk, when I reached the front door there was a sudden heavy downpour. If I had left earlier I would have got drenched as I can not walk fast.
My window cleaner is coming today, need to go and unlock the gates.
Another quiet day.

I’m another one here who can’t really sew, when the DGC were babies I did knit a few items but that’s about it. I’m so impressed with the many talented grans on here, especially Karma, well done to you all.
Today I’m off to the gym for a couple of classes and then a catch up with my pal over coffee. I have many days where I just seem to do the same things, I expect it’s the same for many of us

Good morning from a bright Suffolk after a rainy yesterday. The garden certainly needed it but the dog wasn’t so sure!

I’m off to my keep fit class in just over an hour and out early evening to a dear friend’s for dinner. 3 other friends will be there so it will be a jolly evening and only a 10 minute drive home afterwards.

Good to hear Gingster that your DD is out of hospital and feeling a bit better and to know that her scan was clear. Reassuring news for all the family too.

Morning Mick, morning All. The sky looks to be holding rain, still windy although less so than yesterday. Our garden looks very battered and sad.

Somehow I filled every second yesterday. Mr C slept for a couple of hours in the afternoon, tired after Monday.

We’ll be heading to town this morning for a while, no 1 son will be here this afternoon to move our aerial socket in the loft and bring down a couple of items too heavy for me to wrangle. I hope he’ll also take a large, heavy rug home with him. There will be fish and chips for us all for tea.

On Monday, I had a dental disaster...I was cleaning my teeth when suddenly a crown flew out. Yesterday I went into town and popped into the dental surgery for an appointment which will be tomorrow. I'm not optimistic, this crown has been out and replaced twice before, I'm surprised it's lasted this long. So he probably won't be putting it back, it will be root canal work or on a partial denture. Meanwhile, I must practice smiling with my mouth closed!

Today? A few little cleaning jobs in the bathrooms and kitchen followed by some holiday research on the Mac and I ought to get out for some exercise or work in the garden. We'll see what happens with the weather and my willpower.

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny here in Essex. We had quite a bit of rain yesterday.

Dd came home from hospital late afternoon and is feeling better to be out. Still has enlarged glands and her asthma is bad but hopefully she’ll improve . The scans were clear 🙏.

Today we have the physio for Dh and I hope he’ll take him for a walk with his rollator. He really can’t get on with it, but needs it as his walking is still poor.
