I’ve just taken my evening tablets with a glass of champagne.

What do you do that is wrong?

Not always that easy AJKW.

Going back to Brandy and Babycham if I was out with a guy I wasn’t keen on I always asked for a brandy and babycham!Never had a second date🤣🤣

AJKW Wed 04-Jun-25 15:24:25

Personally I’d would work hard to improve my general health naturally and I’d ditch the pills but still enjoy an occasional glass of champers.

Shirls52000 Wed 04-Jun-25 06:55:17

Loving this thread ! As for the babycham try a Southern Comfort and Babycham “Southern Baby” lol that leads to forgetting about the chunky Kit Kat, cheddars and Hagen Daas ice cream 😂

I cannot tell you how much I love this thread. I am 75 and my mobility is very bad. In fact when I go out my darling husband pushes me around in a wheelchair. However I love having a vodka and tonic before dinner. My great sadness is that I can no longer drink white wine or champagne. I make up for it by having a brandy and ice around 9.00pm. In my youth I had some wonderful times and parties. Enjoy yourselves while you can. BTW I also love chocolate.

Keeping up the trend, I have just taken painkillers washed down with Chenin Blanc (stress headache 🤕)

Thought of this thread an hour ago when I was sitting in a lovely bar overlooking the sea in Lanzarote. An old chap came in - must have been well into his 80’s. Had a zimmer frame and oxygen via nasal prongs. His family helped him and had a coffee. He had a pint of beer, a big dinner and a big ice cream sundae. He looked like he really enjoyed it, and asked his daughter for half a tablet because he felt a bit sick. He washed it down with his pint. That’s the way to live your life!

None of these things are wrong!!! 🤣🤣🤣

TheWeirdoAgain1 Tue 03-Jun-25 12:34:18

I don't like champers or wine etc. so I take my pills - even strong ones - with Baileys or other cream liqueurs or with beer/lager but mostly with soft drinks or milk and I scoff copious amounts of rum and raison ice cream!

I'm 60 and going to snuff it sooner or later anyway so why not?!

Nanacool Tue 03-Jun-25 05:47:28

Brandy and babycham I believe they were called Flying Angels, oh the memory, never again.

Nanacool Tue 03-Jun-25 05:45:09

Oooh the memory. I tried to climb the lamp posts in the pub after being given several of these, I was soooo ill. I was about 18 at the time.

Catterygirl Tue 03-Jun-25 00:10:02

A lovely fun thread. I take my medication with water, oh what a saint, swiftly followed by a vodka and coke.

I was more interested in the red wine and dark chocolate than the apples! Yes flavonoids!

Crossstitchfan Mon 02-Jun-25 22:51:03

A great sense of humour at over 100! Brilliant! That’s how I’d like to be. I believe a good sense of humour helps you live longer and my doctor agrees with me! So keep laughing folks!

Allira Mon 02-Jun-25 22:34:41

You asked how old the poster is - you said she sounded about five. Well you sound about 93, old and humourless!

Well, I knew someone who had a great sense of humour even when he was over 100!!
I can't remember him being fond of vegetables, apart from chips, but he did like an occasional Guinness 😀

Allira Mon 02-Jun-25 22:31:54

Sorry that posted wrong but you get the idea!

Yes - flavonoids!

Is this a pee take. Not funny or do have somekind drink problem..Also not funny.

Alcohol and medicine not advisable.

Lastly. How old are..You sound about five.

What is the matter with you? Have you actually read the posts properly? If so, how can’t you see they were funny?
You, Withknobsonit, are a miserable so and so and I feel sorry that you have the sort of life that makes you as sanctimonious as this!
You asked how old the poster is - you said she sounded about five. Well you sound about 93, old and humourless!
Off to have a large glass of brandy, (maybe even two, shock horror!) so, cheers!!

There is good news for those who find cramming in five portions of fruit and veg a day about as appealing as limp lettuce – you can now count red wine and dark chocolate.
Telegraph today!
A new five-a-day diet including tea, apples, oranges and berries, all foods rich in chemicals called flavonoids, will help people to live longer, a study has found.

And this always calls to me Iam! I printed it off - the late great Lynda Lee Potter musing (and whoever did the drawings, brilliant) and it’s framed on our little apartment in Málaga. It always makes me smile when I visit. 😁

love it, I shall use that as an excuse forever.

At my age who cares. A few weeks a Dr, not mine advised me I should be eating more plant food, which I know all about BUT does she do 24/7 caring, does she have plenty of energy. I would not be rude but I just went yeah yeah, then came home and managed MY life. Just care for you....

Shortbreadandkilts Mon 02-Jun-25 20:27:57

What a fabulous question! Lots I wouldn’t put on here. But having a cigarette sat on the garden bench at the dead of night looking the stars with a cuppa.
