I’ve just taken my evening tablets with a glass of champagne.

What do you do that is wrong?

Smileless2012 Sat 31-May-25 19:33:58

Probably too many to mention Sago but taking tablets with champagne isn't one of them, well not until I read your OP grin.

Oh dear if that’s the worst you ve done you re sure to go to heaven
Unfortunately I don’t like champagne you can keep it for your next tablets 🤣

Sitting around and vegetating when I should be doing something more useful with my time.

Binge watching TV to the exclusion of everything else.

sago we must be twins separated at birth 🥂

Buying crisps for the grandchildren to have as snacks after swimming, forgetting to take them with me - so munching them in front of the TV later, instead.

Having TWO Caramel Wafers with my 8pm cuppa - I’m beyond saving!

My SIl's dear Grandmother told me not to take my tablets with coffee, always with water. I often feel guilty if I take them with other than water and think of her.
Thanks for the reminder to take my tablets. Now, should I swig them down with my wine?

Luckygirl3 Sat 31-May-25 21:15:11

I take mine with a glass of laxido - how are the mighty fallen!! grin

Best one yet!! 😂

I did take them with water then swigged the wine afterwards.

I have been known to be that desperate with a migraine, when nothing else worked to take my prescription medication with an extremely large glass of wine.

Wine for a relaxant, meds for pain relief, dark room for hope.

Chocolate- it calls to me every evening. If I don’t have any in the house I feel deprived.

Spent most of my Saturday feeling like rubbish-also binge watching and eating the wrong foods like ayse.

Iam64 Sun 01-Jun-25 08:55:49

Sago - as my friend and neighbour aged 78 said to me when I refused a gin and tonic - go on, what are we saving our livers for at this stage 🍾.
I must add I’m not advocating binge drinking 😇

And this always calls to me Iam! I printed it off - the late great Lynda Lee Potter musing (and whoever did the drawings, brilliant) and it’s framed on our little apartment in Málaga. It always makes me smile when I visit. 😁

How does that poem go? "I take my pills with beer, Ive done it all my life. They do taste kinda funny but...."

Oops wrong poem.

Chocolate for me too. The “let’s see how long you can make this bar last” doesn’t last very long. And the “don’t buy it this week” is a non-starter. I fall at the first hurdle!

What a lovely lot you are!

I love this thread and at one time or other I'm guilty of doing all the 'wrong' things mentioned here!

Aber57 Sun 01-Jun-25 10:40:52

Love this thread. It makes me seem normal.

There have been times when 2 co-codamol and a glass of brandy was the only thing for the pain. I think your champagne and prescribed meds is a lot classier.

Iam64 Sun 01-Jun-25 11:52:54

This is imo the best thread on Gransnet at the moment.

Co-codamol doesn’t agree with me, I took two so that I could get to a parents evening, the next day the head teacher rang me and said she was extremely disappointed that I had attended whilst obviously drunk

I had to struggle in once again showing her my prescription and medication, we did have a giggle eventually, she sent an internal memo explaining the situation.

Rather embarrassing as I was a Mum helper with reading and trips etc along with being a longstanding member of the PTA 🤭

Sitting playing word games when I should be cleaning the bathrooms

LizzieDrip Sun 01-Jun-25 12:32:14

I’ve done all the above, apart from attending parents’ evenings whilst ‘drunk’ … but then I was the teacher, so that would be REALLY wrong🤣🤣🤣

Loving this thread🖤

What a refreshing thread. I live in a constant state of guilt because I enjoy a few glasses of wine and have a few other bad habits.

Let's face it - if you -
Drink too much
Smoke
Get too fat
Get too thin
Don't get enough exercise
Done eat enough fruit and vegetables
Don't watch your BP and cholesterol

And other such warnings, you'll die. Newsflash - no one is getting out of here alive.

At nearly 76, I'm too old to die young so I'll carry on regardless.
