Are his tattoos an offence, is it not possible to judge a persons
deeds , I so dislike tattoos too , do they brung to mind thuggish
behaviour ?

I know it is wrong of me, I just can’t get round all the tattoos.
The ones on his neck just make me cringe.
However if the powers that be don’t mind, why should I?

All right, perhaps it's not the most egregious knighthood ever bestowed upon someone by a British sovereign. That, I suspect, would be when Benito Mussolini was made an honorary knight by King George V “for services to making the trains run on time and instilling a sense of discipline into a feckless, libidinous, cowardly and idle race”. I think those were the words.
Or there's Robert Mugabe, knighted by Liz in 1994, presumably for killing more of his fellow countrymen than Ian Smith could have dreamt of. Or Nicolae Ceausescu, knighted in 1980 because he occasionally hacked off the Russians, I would guess.
That's before we get to the traitor Anthony Blunt and, of course, Jimmy Savile. So there have been plenty of real bad'uns. If you want a rogues' gallery, just look at who the British state has honoured. And who it will undoubtedly continue to honour .
We should bear all this in mind before frothing at the mouth over the knighthood about to be bestowed upon David Beckham

More than anything I hope this announcement will prompt Brooklyn to contact his father.
The estrangement from their eldest son who was once so close to them must be heartbreaking.

Daft system but if you have it he seems to deserve it as much as anyone. Certainly more than some of the drug affected pop stars.

Currently watching the England game and thinking back to the days when Beckham, Owen etc were in the team. So boring now. I wouldn’t go to an England match these days even if someone paid me.

Another Beckham fan and I'm pleased he's got his knighthood. I was impressed by him standing in line to pay his respect to the late Queen instead of trying to jump the queue, I thought it showed humility which is not a characteristic shown by many famous people these days.

Interestingly when other footballers come and go on the international scene, there are several who are regarded as legends, icons, stars or whatever when their career is long finished. Beckham is one. The foreign newspapers this weekend are full of reports about his knighthood, (which they probably find intriguing seeing as their footballers will never get one!).

David Beckham was a very good footballer although he never won the Ballon D'Or. I don't see him as anything exceptional.

No English footballer has won the Ballon D'Or but Beckham gained 2nd place, the highest place for an English footballer. Not having won the Ballon D'Or didn't preclude other footballers from being awarded knighthoods, nor diminish their abilities. It seems a strange award to dig up to prove some obscure point.

I think David Beckham is one of the good guys and well deserves this knighthood.
