And was an exceedingly good footballer.

Not before time! I’ve always seen him as a good role model and family man - - a couple of blips excepted, nobody’s perfect. Charitable, hard-working and talented. Exceedingly easy on the eye as well, but I’m guessing that wasn’t taken into account.

I think the blips ( eg the speeding fine) were what set him back from getting a knight hood. He was quite instrumental in getting us the Olympic Games and I’m pleased that what he has done for the country has finally been acknowledged. He was also a pretty good footballer!

I’m glad. He deserves it. He does work in public and behind the scenes for charity. He also seems to be a nice family orientated person.

The leaked email just delayed it I think. He got it eventually.

Me too. He has really wanted it for some time and I think sometimes you wait longer if you do but I do think he deserves it, he does a lot of charity work
