Good morning from a dry Bristol.
It poured with rain all morning, but surprisingly, there were quite a lot of punters at the church coffee.
DD had invited me to lunch and I took the bus straight from church. Iris was making bread (which wasn’t cooked until well after lunch) and her sister was making soup…. Both delicious.
The rain had eased off enough for the three adults to do the garden trail. A lot of walking, a lot of indifferent gardens, mostly communal garden, rather like the private London squares.
I came home, pooped and went to bed early after dinner.
Today, I’ve got to make a load of marmalade (from a tin) as my stocks are down to 1 jar!
Have a blessed Sunday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Greyduster Sun 08-Jun-25 05:36:56

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Going to be a dry day in South Yorkshire.
I had to cut one of my rings off yesterday. I couldn’t get it off because my knuckle has started to swell with arthritis and the ring was becoming very tight, making the finger painful. Fortunately the shank had become quite thin so I clipped through the metal with a pair of pliers. It’s a ring I’ve had for a long time and am sentimentally very attached to so I hope I can have it repaired and enlarged for another finger. I miss it being there.
DS is coming down today for a flying visit before they go away next week, and DD and her menfolk will be here for lunch this afternoon, so a busyish day for me.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Pantglas2 Sun 08-Jun-25 05:59:39

Good morning all from a hot already Antalya 🥵

I’m just popping in to see you’re all ok - good news for Iris prompt rearranged appointment but not so good for FGTs - hope new treatment goes well and reinstatement happens soon 🙏

Will be back in between dips in the 🏊‍♀️ pool…x

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 08-Jun-25 06:30:19

A quick morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I’m getting up soon. We are heading off to a Car Boot Sale to hopefully sell some of OH’s honey. I’ve booked lunch at a favourite place and then we’re going to the Arts Festival we would have liked to attend yesterday. Not much rain is forecast so we should be ok.

Have a good Sunday everyone and maybe FGT2 will be back among us.

Ashcombe Sun 08-Jun-25 06:34:38

Good morning from a bright and sunny Torbay.

Yesterday morning, I managed to go to the local shops where I had a coffee before returning home as the first few drops of rain fell. This turned into an absolute deluge with water rushing along the road like a river as the drains were blocked with leaves which came down in storms earlier in the week.

I do sympathise about your ring, Greyduster as I had to have my wedding ring cut off last February due to the arthritic swelling of the joint. The joys of ageing!

A blessed Sunday to all and a happy holiday to Pantglas2!

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 34°C. The week ahead looks as though it will be much the same.

Had a day inside yesterday getting my chores done and planting my new plants. It looks so pretty on my small front terrace, long may it last!

I was so tired I went to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon but set the alarm so I wouldn’t miss the Ladies Final.

This morning I have some ironing to do before Mass. No weekly chat with my pal in Leicester as she’s off to Portugal for a week with her son and family.

I am looking forward to the Men’s Final this afternoon!

I don’t understand what has gone on with FGT but am very upset for her. I do hope she will be back with us soon and, as always, she and Hinself are in my prayers.

Wishing a good Sunday to all.☀️

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the sun is trying to shine through the cloudy sky.

Yesterday was fairly quiet as we were both wiped out after Friday’s childminding. The school fair was very busy although they did have some interesting stalls and displays, the children enjoyed it.

No real plans today. I’ll catch up with the washing and ironing this afternoon I think.

Has something happened to FGT?

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's not raining but not warm either.
Today I have invited a friend over for coffee and later the annual garden party for volunteers at our town's community store is supposed to be happening in my garden. It is weather dependent. If heavy rain we will have to move indoors.

Yesterday I had a visit from some people wanting to hear how I go about hosting helpers from around the world. I hope I gave them a fair account and not an over rosy impression. It's true that after 17 years, 240 helpers there have only been a handful of poor experiences.

Last night I went to a local concert in aid of a cancer charity. It was most enjoyable with well known songs and much joining in!

Have a good day everyone.

Kalu Sun 08-Jun-25 07:02:56

Good morning all. Sunny and dry so far in Glasgow this morning.

Another broken sleep last night as the pain in my leg is worsening, something I didn’t expect to happen so quickly. I have a telephone consultation booked in a fortnight to discuss with my GP the results of my X-rays and where I go from here.
Meantime I have packed what little I need with a plentiful supply of pain relief, cat is in her carrier and I am heading to the but n ben in Perthshire. WiFi connection is poor but I will post whenever possible.

My best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday, especially to those with difficult days.

glammagran Sun 08-Jun-25 07:05:30

Good morning all. The forecast thunderstorms did not materialise yesterday, although there was some heavy rain during the afternoon.

We went round to see DD2 and family later in the afternoon. DGS2 (4) had enjoyed his first cinema outing with his mum while his sister was at a party. They saw Peppa Pig which was only an hour long. He was excitedly starting to tell me Peppa had a new baby sister but DGD3 stole his thunder by telling me so he thumped her hard and tears ensued. SiL was frustrated by the rain which started as he and a friend were finishing laying the paving slabs in the new undercover area of garden and had mixed cement but couldn’t finish it with 3 slabs to go.

Today I will watch the men’s tennis final from Roland Garros. I didn’t see the women’s final though but I’m glad Coco Gauff won.

Pork chops in Dijon and mustard cream sauce for dinner which I haven’t done for many years.

I’m so sorry to read about FGT2. I hope she will be back with her uplifting posts asap. She and Himself are never far from my thoughts.

Hope you all have a good Sunday.

RosesandLilac Sun 08-Jun-25 07:10:51

Good morning, a much brighter start here in south Glos thankfully after yesterday’s deluges. Once again we got thoroughly soaked while dog walking 🙄, not that they minded.
I lit the wood burner again as temperatures barely made 12° , so a cosy afternoon crocheting and listening to an audiobook.
I didn’t sleep well again but a quiet day today so it won’t bother me too much. Tiddler and I will enjoy our earth walk, DH will take bigger dog to the village for his Sunday coffee and chat with anyone around.
I will get the ironing done before sorting out something for dinner, probably roast gammon I think.
I do hope FGT is okay, I couldn’t believe that she’s been banned.
Have a lovely day 🌹

NanKate Sun 08-Jun-25 07:11:36

Good morning Mick and All from a the Brighton area where we have been staying to celebrate DH’s 80 Birthday weekend with the family. Their final gift to us is taking us All out to see Mission Impossible tonight. It’s been an action packed weekend. Tomorrow we return home to recover, but it’s been fun but we are in need of a rest 🥳🥳

I hope Bella to watch the Final at Roland Garros on our afternoon off from the family.

luluaugust Sun 08-Jun-25 07:21:29

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Quiet day today, a telephone call to my DB and a lunch to cook. Having read about The Chelsea Detective on one of the threads we started watching the series and thoroughly enjoying it
Best wishes

karmalady Sun 08-Jun-25 07:21:58

Good morning from s somerset, dry for now, some sun and strong gusts

Yesterday I made granola, it is lovely and good for adding as a sprinkle topping, I made cushions, all 60x60, very full feather cushions, I wanted the rustic look in my living room and not the formal piped look. I used quilting cotton, a thick one from cotton and steel called magic forest and a cream striped linen mix. Made 3 so far and one more today. I have had the bees fabric for many years, I loved it but never knew what to make with it. I put hidden zips on the backs

It was tiring standing up all day and I could not wait to get to bed

Ocado just arrived and now the day is my own. I will make that last cushion and go for a walk. My machines need cleaning and oiling but generally only pottering today

Have a good day

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue sky and sunshine so far, showers are forecast, it feels cool and the heating came on briefly. We had lots of showers yesterday but no thunderstorms. I changed the bedclothes yesterday, with the usual battle with the duvet cover! All washed and dried, now needs ironing.
Went to DD1s for a fish and chip supper, from a newly opened shop. I wasn’t impressed but didn’t say anything as I wasn’t paying!
I’ll do some gardening today, hopefully the ground will be soft enough for me to put some plants in. I did very little yesterday and feel quite stiff today as a result so must do more today.
grammaretto I hope the weather behaves for your garden party today.
ashcombe, well done for your trip to the local shops, you must feel that your life is returning to normal again.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone, have the best day possible.

harrigran Sun 08-Jun-25 07:32:45

Good morning from a fairly bright NE, I am afraid it won't last though, forecast is for thundery showers.
DS and GD came yesterday after she had done her voluntary work.
DS did a slide show on the TV, all of their photographs from their week in Northern Ireland.
I won't see GD next week as she will be away for D of E training, but hope to see her the week after when she is singing in the school concert.
Have a good day.

GrandmaC47 Sun 08-Jun-25 07:35:53

Good morning from a bright Co Durham.
Greyduster, I had to have both wedding & engagements rings cut off about 15 years ago for the same reason. A jeweller blend the two together which I’ve worn ever since. It took a while to get used to just one and not two. Unfortunately I had to have it cut off ( in the local fire station) last month when I damaged my hand. It is currently being repaired but I’ll have to wear it on my other hand as my ring finger is so misshapen now.
Sis-in-law and I have enjoyed our stay in Dundee, but nice to be home.
I, also, hope for a quick reinstatement of dear Fgt.
Have a good Sunday everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 08-Jun-25 07:37:01

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and bright. Kalu enjoy your time in Perthshire but a pity about your leg. Glammagran sibling wars! We have them here too, sometimes. Bellasnana it sounds like you needed that nap.
Yesterday was busy. The garden centre for birthday cards and presents first of all. It was quiet but filling up as I left. The washing was done when I returned so it went in the tumble dryer. I made lentil soup in the slow cooker and will portion it up, ready for the freezer. I cleaned the bathroom and finished the boys room. Then hoovered throughout. I started weeding the path and swept it before lunch. In the afternoon, my aunt and uncle popped in for a chat. I was very happy to see them. My aunt has kindly offered to take me to hospital for my other cataract op on Friday. It'll mean an early start as I've to be there for eight o'clock. Both of them were delighted with their birthday gifts. We don't usually do birthdays but they have been extremely supportive to me this year in particular. After they left, I finished weeding the path and put down weedkiller. It looks a lot better. I did some ironing and remade the bed then decided I would make the chicken and leek pie for dinner, however I had bought all the ingredients - except the chicken! Dinner was a fish supper instead. Despite the car park being mobbed, the chippy was empty so I was in and out quickly.
Last night I slept better and was only up twice and awake for a little while. Today I'll head to Aldi for the chicken and definitely make the pie! The work today will be clearing my drive of weeds and moss. I expect visitors in the shape of dd and the boys. She will bring back my KitchenAid, I hope! I bought two wee cars for the boys to fight over. Now I can see better, there are marks on the radiators that need dealing with. And the floors need cleaning! It was almost better when I couldn't see it all. A state of blissful ignorance 😂
Have a good day all

Jaxjacky Sun 08-Jun-25 07:44:28

Morning, we have sun after yesterdays cold and rain, we went to a wedding reception last night, did I really used to wear skimpy summer dresses in 10 degrees! My Raynauds really put a downer on the evening.
Today I'm going to lift the first new potatoes to have with pork steaks for dinner, sow some more lettuce and beetroot before meat draw in the pub.
Have a lovely holiday Pantglas and I hope you enjoy your break Kalu.
FGT 🥰

Good morning all from a sunny (at present) Glasgow.)

Lovely to see you posting NanKate and sending best wishes to your DH.
LLFL, good luck with the car boot sale!

I was out of the house from 9am until well after 6pm, stopping for a Chinese takeaway en route. I am a very tired lady today.

Despite the torrential rain, our fête was a roaring success. I saw people I hadn't seen in years and many of my former pupils with their young families, it was a very happy day for our parish.
So far (and still counting) we have made approx £11, 000 for our restoration fund.

I was extremely weary and took myself over to the church for some quite time and a break. Suddenly I heard a key in the lock 😱 ( I always lock myself in) it turned out to be the young sacristan, I was training. He asked if I was free to talk to his friend, a former pupil of mine.
This extremely tall and handsome young man came in and gave me an enormous hug. He then handed me beautiful flowers.
Of course I was puzzled, because I hadn't seen this pupil for fifteen years. He told me that he had never forgotten the influence I had on him, especially as he had an over inflated ego and had been extremely arrogant. ( His words!) He now realised how I had seen his potential and had set him on the right path.
This was so unexpected and I could feel my eyes filling up.
In my present fragile emotional and physical state, it gave me such a boost.😭

Today we are off to Dollie's ballet show. Thankfully, the road to the venue has reopened after a week of chaotic diversions. Otherwise, we would have had a much longer drive over the braes.
However, I am so far behind with the parish website, I need to work on that before I go out.

I was sorry to hear about FGT, at a time when needs support.
I think she was suspended previously and GNHQ are very strict regarding this, regardless of how heartbreaking their situation is. They make no exceptions.💐

I wish you all a pleasant Sunday and safe journey Kalu..

brook2704 Sun 08-Jun-25 07:48:25

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a sunny start to the day, just a few light clouds about
Enjoy your break away Kalu and hope your leg pain improves soon
I hope you can get your ring repaired and enlarged greyduster
Yesterday didn’t go to plan as DD2 asked if we’d go round to watch DGS whilst she went shopping with DGD. He’s at the age now where he definitely doesn’t want to go shopping, but he’s ok to be left home alone for a short time but not too long. It was nice to see him although we didn’t get much conversation! In the afternoon I went to the hairdressers, always lively and chatty. Today we’re planning pottering in the garden and a trip to the garden centre cafe as a treat later
Hope the rain holds off grammaretto and enjoy the party!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Sun 08-Jun-25 07:52:59

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here today as DH has covid. We should have gone to an outdoor performance of Taming of The Shrew but, obviously, couldn't go. Het ho!

ginny Sun 08-Jun-25 08:17:01

Good morning from a brighter N. Bucks after a very wet day yesterday.
Last evenings concert was most enjoyable. An eclectic mix of music and song and the acoustics were brilliant.
DGSs 2 & 3 called to tell us that they had both won their races at their first swimming gala. They were so pleased.
Today I’m off to join my scrapbooking pals, always a fun day.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

cornergran Sun 08-Jun-25 08:17:06

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Somerset.

Yesterdays torrents have cleared, showers forecast for today. I hope to get outside, some pot moving and weeding to do. Mr C will change the bed, I can’t grip the bedclothes to help so I’m best out of the way. I’m a bit down this weekend, being outside will help brighten me I’m sure.

Hope your husband isn’t too unwell kitty and you stay covid-free.

Have the best day you can everyone.
